  1. Yep, he's by no means an upgrade. But if I had to choose who I'd rather have in a team, it would Guthrie over Gibson any day. Why? Guthrie contributes absolutely nothing. He's a somewhat neat passer, but not to the point of being a player who is great at retaining the ball. This is the extent of his skill. There is little else.
  2. IIRC, he wore out his welcome in MLS. DC tired of him and shifted him to some nondescript team, where it really didn't work out for him. It was more his youth-level performances that have salivated the mouths of European clubs.
  3. Adu and Dos Santos are similar in that both looked like world beaters at this tournament, but have been failures in every way at club level. Was that the US' strongest team? The lack of anything upfront will hold them back if so. You only need to look at Uruguay to see how imperative top class strikers are in international tournament format.
  4. He is 24/25 and has only had one strong season (where he did look very good) in his career. He was miserable early last season. Marseille would never admit how much of a mistake it was paying €16 million for him. Gignac pisses constantly on the rubbish that is considered as forward players at Newcastle United.
  5. Gibson is a decent Premiership player. I have no idea what the aversion to signing him is. Sissoko is better, but he'll be attracting a higher echelon of club.
  6. It think there is an embarrassing lack of statistical analysis about football available to the general public. The other sport I follow very closely is basketball, and they have many inventive ways of comparing player performance despite differences in the amount a player is used, style that his team uses, and the role that he takes up in the team. There are many flaws, but it is often a good means of comparison.
  7. Jaas is the same age as Steve Harper. You can understand why they'd want to have another good keeper around.
  8. If Osaze goes as well, I would transfer some funds to a betting site in expectation of their relegation.
  9. The lads better than Tiote Fiorentina would be considered a step up from West Brom by most people. He's a very good player.
  10. Are they planning on using him as a central midfielder? Manuel da Costa joined Nsofor Obinna at Lokomotiv, btw. Toulouse sign Abdennour.
  11. Don't think Young is anything like the player Man U need. Especially at the price, which I have not seen, but am quite sure will be absurd.
  12. I feel like a 5 foot 9 athlete like Matuidi would be more useful in the air than a 6 foot lump of immobility.
  13. Last season maybe... I am not sure we can simply "have" the top scorer in Ligue 1. He may be more difficult to obtain than a striker who is being overshadowed by a recent big buy at the same position.
  14. We need a centre back? In my opinion, the centre of midfield in the most important part of a football pitch, and you can never have enough quality players occupying that area. Tend to agree. Do you rate Matuidi? (sorry of you've already answered this recently) I rate him pretty highly. He's not as good as some of the French press linking him to the likes of Arsenal would have you believe, but he's a class, physical, box to box midfielder who could actually play alongside Tiote and Cabaye/Barton if we use 4-3-3.
  15. I wouldn't consider Jones, Fuller, or Anichebe to actually be slow. None of pace merchants, but we are not dealing with the likes of Shola and Nolan, here. I'm half joking about Victor, btw. I know he has a poor record, but he generally runs around a lot when playing for his country and this make me want to see him have success in his career.

  17. He's physical and always puts a good shift in. His touch around goal may be negligible, but he can be an effective player for teams in the lower part of the Premiership. Your assessments are overly harsh in their nature.
  18. You should enjoy life without your most consistent and hard working attacking (?) player. Honestly, the guy is talented and your team will suffer from his absence.
  19. Didnt seem to tear any tree’s up at West Ham like. I thought he actually showed well for a good portion of the season. He completely fell off the face of the earth around March, though. This did not surprise me at all.
  20. Any of the informed Scandinavians have opinions on Ujah, Nosa, and Chukwuma Bentley? I've heard a lot of decent things about the first two especially. Ujah should be cracking the SE soon if he continues at this rate. Great potential in Ujah and Nosa. Ujah seems to be a terrific goalscorer and a constant threat in and around the box. Nosa is a powerful midfielder with a good engine who can turn games around. Also a decent goalscorer. Bentley isn`t especially rated in Norway nowadays. He`s not bad though, but definitely not good enough to be shipped out to PL. Hopefully, they can follow the footsteps of Obi and Obasi by moving to a top club. Norway seems to be a nice country for talented young players to go and develop.
  21. Obinna has gone toff to Lokomotiv Moscow. The boy can't seem to stick anywhere. He's a pretty good (although stupid and inconsistent) player in all honesty.

  23. A bloke with warts, 7 eyes, a cleft lip, and Prince Charles ears could pull in liquid. Maybe if you knew what people who were born with that have to go through, you'd reconsider using it as part of a joke, dickhead. Quite ridiculous statements from these "holier than thou" people. The problem here is fitness. The boy can play football and has an ability to do it very well. It scares you that the injuries have mostly been to the groin and hamstring areas, which can often be chronic situations, but he is worth the risk. I just hope that he is an option and not THE plan. Imo, placing too much on the backs of new players with inconsistent histories has been our downfall in the past.
  24. Just going off this video alone, he seemed fairly selfish and out of touch with the rest of the team. You'll notice he didn't create too much for the others and ran into blind alleys a few times because he couldn't connect with teammates. This should improve with time. He's already our most talented player, imo.
