Nothing good about a "big club" going down. Football is just more fun when the teams with big fanbases and great histories are battling each other. Newcastle-Leeds is always going to be a more exciting occasion than Newcastle-Wigan. Still I didn't feel bad when Leeds fell off, because they had fully earned it. I think that's the way sensible fans will feel about us if it happens. It will not be a good thing to see us down, but the club have fully earned it with years of ineptitude under two different ownerships and a ludicrous number of managers. I do feel bad when clubs try to be ambitious and it just falls apart. Like with Real Zaragoza or Lens last year. Especially if it is a decent club with a past.

Bassong: 'I want to leave for my career and my future'
Segun Oluwaniyi replied to Dave's topic in Football
me, pretty poor tbh he's achieved precisely nothing in the game and appears not to be particularly willing to stick around for a season to help get us back up, can't recall there being a queue beating a path to his door when he was relegated last season myself he's a symptom of the wider disease in football, they think they've made it before they have - i was hoping for more from him, at 22 or whatever he is it's hardly like it'd be his last chance of a move is it? Sucessful top flight clubs (Everton, Lille) were after him after last season and even more successful top flight club will be after him if we go down. He has absolutely no reason to play in the Championship and if he leaves for that reason I will have nothing against him. -
Both Liverpool and Chelsea should be ashamed that they have let Man U win the title these last two seasons.

Nonsense. He's a twenty two year old man and this is his fourth season of seeing significant action at a high level of football. ITt's poor defending and that's an even poorer excuse.

Newcastle v Fulham | Sat 16th May - St James' Park @3pm

Owen is completely out then? Not even on the bench. I really really hope Oba is fit. Tbh, he looked pretty gimpy on Monday. -
It's kind of amazing how easily my mind deciphers this.

Why start Owen over Lovenkrands? (assuming Oba isn't fit to start.) I would definitely start the Dane, as Owen has really been poor in my opinion. -
Kanu is similar. Viduka might actually be quicker than him these days too.

Given - Beaten Easily From Long Range Again.
Segun Oluwaniyi replied to Crumpy Gunt's topic in Football
No, not at all really. People were rightfully criticising Given for the few flaws he had, but no one was saying that we wanted him out. In fact, the club didn't push him out or put him up for slae, he demanded a transfer. As for the replacement part, goalkeeper was one of the fews areas of the pitch in which we had adequate cover in both the senior and youth ranks. -
Remember feeling bad for Everton that season. All that hard work, and in the qualifying they draw a Villareal team featuring Riquelme and Forlan at their bests. Remember they went out on a questionable decision as well.

Salary cap is a awful idea. Maybe one could institute an idea such as in the NBA where a team that spends over a certain amount of salary are forced to pay a "luxury tax" back to the league which is redistributed back to the league and spread among the clubs equally.

Oba, Lovenkrands, Jonas? It is likely only one of those players will be starting, and even if all three were, it does not make up for the slowest midfield in the history of football. Regardless, I don't see why lack of pace should prevtn us from being dangerous at home when we should have more possession.

Darren Fletcher - Should he be able to play in the final?
Segun Oluwaniyi replied to Liam Liam Liam O's topic in Football
Not Alves. No. His yellow was deserved for accumulation and petulance alone. He was struggling to keep himself in check early in that match. -
Looks like he's off to Juve in the summer. Bayern have been in talks with him n all allegedly but its all based on whether they sell Rubbery. This has been a class game. Whenever i've watched games involving German teams they always seem to be decent - same sky canned their Bundesliga coverage a few year back Chuck Madrid in that hat too. Mind you if they kept Sneijder fit they wouldn't really need him. Madrid don't need Huntelaar if RVN is fit and they don't need Lass if Mahmadou is fit. That hasn't stopped them from splashing 34 million pounds on the two of them.

No way I'm laughin at that child. Never cried as a child, but I remeber how emotional I was about sport when I was younger. Pray there won't be little children in black and white stripes crying in a few weeks. This I hope. Also, I did not know GG supported Chelsea.
