He's only played two good games since he joined mate. Debut and the following home game. I said he was the best, in a lot of cases that means the least shit. But anyway Shelvey takes risks and most things he does are either brilliant or useless. I'll take that over the middle of the roader.
-
Our best player by far, as he has been in the vast majority of games since he's joined.

I thought Drinkwater was impressive last night, was there when needed defensively, broke play up quite well. I'd certainly have him or Dier ahead of Carrick. I thought he was good defensively albeit with very little help from Lallana and Milner, but he was slow and safe on the ball. Kinda understandable really, England debut probably makes you a bit reluctant to play the 'hopeful' balls.

Depressing thing to happen at this stage, especially to one of our most improved players this season. Also removes one of the very few who show anything approaching leadership.
-
One of the most enjoyable England performances I've watched that. My view of Dier and Alli especially has gone up massively in their respective roles. The way we pressed Germany as a team was truly excellent and not something that Rooney would be able to do. Saying that, I'd still take him as the 4th striker assuming Welbeck is seen as a wide forward.

You can't pick solely on form though. Of course form has to come into it, but you need to pick players that compliment each other and compliment the system and tactic that you want to build around. If Woy doesn't want to play 2 up top in the Euro's, there's no point playing 2 up front in these friendlies.
-
Because he obviously doesn't see England as setting up with 2 strikers at the Euros, and it makes fuck all sense to play Kane as anything other than the number 9. I think Hodgson is naturally too cautious, but he's decent tactically and tries different things to get the most out of the players we have.
-
He's in because he's one of our best two fit wide players, quite simple. He's a classy player too Lallana.
-
Noble is not as good as Drinkwater, that says it all.
-
I think Saivet could be the ideal partner for him, having to play DM with Gini is basically asking him to be the creator, holder, ball winner and organiser all in one.

Who is that in response to? The last 5 posts before this, are all pretty positive? Me probably!!! The new Cabella comment was ridiculous. Even Messi would struggle in our team at the minute. He does like a step over though and also seems reluctant to pass to people over lapping him. Jury's out for me like. If the defender goes with the man making the overlap then the winger has to keep the ball, not try and force a predictable pass through which we do all the time.

Criticising aspects of Mitrovic's game is fair enough, coming out with stuff like 'worse than Shola' is just deranged. I love this guy's attitude.
-
Was decent defensively but use of the ball was typically boring and safe.
-
That's not a pen for me. We were relatively unlucky but still lots of improving to do.
-
We need to build the team around Shelvey, I'm convinced of that.

So: Rafa is a committed 4-2-3-1 man right? Be interesting where he sees the players fitting.
-
Bullshit, it's like if you started a new job, had a 9 month review where it emerged you had acheived absolutely nothing and were failing in every aspect of this job. Then being surprised and crying foul to learn the company were looking at alternatives. The concept of sacking someone without a replacement in mind is stupid.

Jeff from Byker Grove now working as an NUFC security guard.

I was thinking this too, Rafa's healing hands will work wonders. Needs to strap a block of cheese to his leg for 12 hours a day.
-
Bothered about what? Doubt he cares that much about the club, and why would he resign when he's about to get sacked and get compensation? Bothered about the fact we are basically offering his job out to all and sundry. 'Media reports' indicate he's hurt and upset. Well fuck him.
-
If McClaren was that bothered he would resign. No sympathy.
-
Aye, I saw that the other day, £72k he took, not bad like for a £50 stake but as you say, crazy to cash out this week. Sounds like a real life version of deal or no deal that does. Bookies ringing him up each week with a new offer.

That McNulty article is true to a point, but ignores so much more. Amazing that you could probably write a full dissertation on what is wrong at Newcastle United and still run out of words.

Theres a growing number tweeting paddy power asking for prices on Craig Brown. Allegedly hes 25/1 down from 100/1 since this morning. Can you fucking imagine the players reaction to that knacka turning up sounding worse than the Geordie on Castle? He's 75 FFS

Sherwood is a total moron. Pearson at least has the experience of saving Leicester last season.
