  1. There was bother if wanted it for sure & in the Keegan's 1st Saturday away game at Bolton I remember getting chased to the ground, having pieces of concrete terracing thrown at us during game, being squashed so tight together that you had no choice but to piss on the bloke next to you and it goes without saying we lost. When I was younger still I remember being in the corner of the Gallowgate when fighting broke out with Everton fans in the East Stand & we all had to escape onto the pitch. However: The thing about that Liverpool game was that it wasn't just a few Scousers it was hundreds of them & they'd just hammered us - they should have been in the pub. We'd all had a right laugh & a party; I think they were jealous of our support & the fact that the Kop had been drowned out live on BBC. They were arguable still the best team in europe & we were 2nd division! They have no class.
  2. I think your missing the piont. Why should Fred put up his money when he is weeks away from being ousted all together, you have to remember this is a business and it makes no business sense for Fred to spend £5m when he is about to leave. It would be the equivalant of Branson buying a whole fleet of Boeing's for Virgin just before he is about to sell up. Fact is while he may have promised funds the situation has now changed and those funds are not available. We have to wait for the takeover to be completed before we can do any real spending. Then FF will show that he really does not care for the club in the way that he purports, he doesn't own the club & it is not his money. MA will/ should secure the debts. This is a business struggle but it is the club that could suffer. That raises 2 issues; 1 is that FF always said the club would come first & clearly this is now untrue (?) & secondly, and more importantly, could raise questions of MA. He should be looking after his new acquisition; so what is going on? I hope this isn't a sign of things to come. Neither man is currently covering themselves in glory to my eyes.
  3. FF may well be very unwell but he can still carry out business. Mike Ashley is the new owner in waiting. It is just a matter of time. FF clearly told Sam he'd have money (I'd imagine without saying you'll have to sell first) so FF should put up as he is still in charge. If he can not/ will not he needs to move aside. MA can do what he wants with his money; there are ways & means of getting money into the club for transfers. I've said this somewhere before but we really are in danger of making a sows ear out of a silk purse. If Sam misses out on his reported "top transfer target" he will be seriously pissed off.
  4. Right now we basically have very little money because of the takeover. Ashley won't put in his millions until he has control and Fred won't be spending his money when he knows in all likelihood he'll be ousted in a couple of weeks. Basically we have a deadlock and thus no money so to get Barton we have to sell Parker. FF wouldn't be spending his money - it is our money & before MA came in with his offer FF had apparently said there was money to spend (he must have told Sam this for Sam to take the job). If Sam has said he wants Barton then we go and buy him & suffer any consequences. At the moment the Chairman is FF & he needs to ok the cash release. I can not understand why MA simply doesn't write a cheque, publisize this & make a PR killing over FF. If we then don't get Barton, a player Sam wants & a transfer MA would fund then FF would find himself in a more untenable position then he is already. The current position is ridiculous.
  5. From the article in the Chronicle, it says we want to make a payment (figure not specified) and then pay the rest in two weeks time. Perhaps the club want to pay something to secure him, with the balance conditional on the outcome of his court hearing for the GBH. If we pay the £5.5m now, he may get sent down and we are a large lump of cash + Scott Parker down for the start of next season. I certainly dont think we are just 'penny-pinching' for the sake of it. An Mike Ashleys money doesn't even come into Sams thinking until he takes over the club officially. Sam will currently be wheeling and Dealing under the budget/constraint set by Freddy. I'd be amazed if we can get a clause written in stating that if he gets sent down that we get money off the transfer fee - we may be able to write something into his contract about sacking him but that's about it. The bottom line is that if we want him we buy baggage and all. City will not give way to clauses & Barton is very unlikely to accept any clause in his contract. Surely our legal beagles have already done their homework on the chances of him getting put away. Barton clearly wants to come here and Sam wants him. That being the case we simply tell WH they must sign Parker or the deal is off & we then sign Barton. If Parker stays he stays, we may still get Barton (this is where Mr Ashley can help out & show his good faith), if he goes he goes & we should get Barton. If WH get Barton in either event it should be because that is where Barton wants to go; it really can not be because we get out-manoeuvred, don't have the cash or are wanting unrealistic clauses inserted. Sold As Seen.
  6. I can not believe that we are haggling over how we would pay the money. Mike Ashley has an offer on the table to buy the club for 133M & we are trying to pay 5.5M on instalments Get your hand in your pocket & get some players in Piss up in a brewery springs to mind - about the whole mess up at Barrack Rd - get it sorted.
  7. I remember it well; 13k/ 14k Toon fans outsinging the kop mostly with "We'll be back again next year". But my abiding memory was the scum bag Liverpool fans: small bairns mooning at your coach as it goes passed can be regarded as "funny" & we laughed but getting tonked in the game & then be attacked by 500 or so Liverpool morons is another. Walking out of the ground the 1st row of terraced houses was blocked by Police/ Horses/ Dogs. the second was blocked with hundreds of scum bags running full tilt towards us. There was hell on & my opinion of the "lovable" scouse gits has received further credance in the years that have followed. Yes, it was great day out but some poor sods will have had the shit kicked out of them........................
  8. Uwe Fuchs, Bertie Mee, Claudio Gentile mackems.gif
  9. Why would you want to replace him with that joker? tbh Nolan's a key member of my premiership over-rated list which consists of: kevin Nolan Anton Ferdinand Frank Lampard Jamie Carragher Philipe Senderos Michael Owen Matt taylor (just makes the list) You have quoted a right mixed bag there. Senderos & A Ferdinand I can agree with. I'm trying to think of anything Parker has physically, mentally or technically better than Nolan & you know what; I can't - unless you regard spinning around on yourself everytime you receive the ball as crucial to your game. Parker had lost it last year, watching him & Duff acting like a pair a Waltzers at the Hoppings was making me dizzy.
  10. Viduka & Owen could be some pairing. Both are prone to injury so we need Ameobi & Martins as back up & ideally add another striker; I'd love to see Eidur Gudjohnsen to add real competition & to allow for any rotation that may become required.
  11. 8.5M for Parker is great business. Butt had a much better season than Parker - he had a great first season but he was awful at times last year. I'd rather not use the money for Barton & if Sam can he should use it to try & get Nolan.
  12. The loveable Scouse rogues who are really great lads & love a laugh, as has been said, stitched up their own fans, caused trouble & injury to their own. If you don't have a ticket, don't go to the ground or buy a fake. Last season I went to both Arsenal & Alkmaar without a ticket, had a great time & didn't help cause chaos. Many more Toon fans did the same (although I think we were the only ones watching Orient playing Yeovil while the Toon were at the Emirates). Gutted for the proper Liverpool fans; they should sort out their scum element - too may times this has happened.
  13. I take it you mean Supermacs home debut vs Liverpool, hat trick then knocked out and carried off going for the fourth Now that's a debut I wish I had seen.
  14. Easy; Mick Quinn. Four goals against Dirty Leeds on a sunny day opening day. The image of the fat head racing away from the halfway line leaving all in his wake to score his 4th was surreal.
  15. SJH deserves our thanks; his son our derision. Unfortunately, you can not choose family & SJH has a first class numpty as a son.
  16. 100% agree - Distin was Bramble before Bramble............... I can not wait to see a Pompey centre half pairing of Distin & Shambles - hilarious!
  17. Good on the pitch, a liability off it. Can you see him down the Quayside being a good lad, no? Neither can I, he isn't worth the baggage that will come. Can he not tap up Nolan? Viduka, if Sam can get the best out of him would be a great siging, even better if Owen stays.
  18. Clark scored a last minute equaliser for us against the Smoggies
  19. Don't renew if you are sick of the club. Do renew if it just FF. The club is more important & needs the fans if we are to "remain" a big club. Don't renew & FF gets rid of fans he doesn't want, come to the game let him hear that we want him out. For the new manager & the players (those that remain & new one's in) we need to be there. There must be better ways to show FF that he isn't wanted.
  20. 6-0 at half time, standing in the corner, red hot, dewildered by how good we were & how easily we were beating a team in the play-offs. Fantastic. Leicester came out for the 2nd half & tried to kick their way to respectability.
  21. Houllier would be more acceptable than Sam & quite frankly I'd find Nancy a better bet than Sven But that is not the most important thing. What we really need is some cash rich investors to come along & for FF to do the honerable thing & sod off. We all know that short term at least that will not happen. In the meantime we will get Sam & pray that he can do the job. Quite what Kevin Bond will make of the appointment I really don't know and Roeder will also be gutted that he is being replaced by a man who badgered the PL over the fact that he did not have his badges. FF is not the man to bring success to our club. He may support NUFC & he may want the best but he cannot provide the full infrastructure that is required & has proven disastrous in his choices of manager (he even got Bobby in a few years too late). He supports the managers with money but it is our money & Sky's money he is using & we are not getting a decent return. Never be fooled that he is ploughing his money in. Heaven forbid that we appoint the new man & find ourselves in the same position at the end of the season but you wouldn't bet against it. The lowest common denominator in all of this is FF. Solution; get rid of him
