  1. Appreciate the answer though. I shall impress the lad on Monday and tell him that I wracked my brain and eventually came up with the answer
  2. Superb. Cheers. Short thread
  3. Please can some help me out with some trivia At work today, I was chatting on the phone with a lad from Felixstowe who was an Ipswich fan. The bloke was unbelievable. He knew tons and tons about Newcastle down to stuff like who passed to set up Keegans first goal against QPR and a few other completely obscure things that I was struggling to remember. I could imagine having such knowledge of someone else's club. Anyway, he went on about our 1-5 win away to Rotherham when Keegan got 4. He asked who got the 5th. Neither of us could remember and its been bugging me ever since. Have scoured the web but couldnt find anything. Does anyone have any ideas. Please help. Cheers
  4. At least some of them had the good sense to slag him off... wonder if the stupid twat has dared to venture our of his bedroom. Bet he wakes up in cold sweats thinking about it
  5. I think we all know that football in this country is fucked in the long term while people like scudamore and his like minded cronies are in charge.
  6. Its time we just accepted that he is leaving and got the bets on for him scoring against us at the Gallowgate end next season..... cause you know it will happen
  7. Rob Lee has always been my hero
  8. Strugglers, do you think we should be happy with that when we've let defenders go earlier in the summer after the manager was promised money to strengthen by the old chairman? Of course we shouldnt be happy with just struggling but I am just getting the impression that too many people have set their expectations too high again. I agree that it would be great to have some defensive signings now but the club is just trying to find its feel after a hell of a summer. We cant just magic up players who want to come here
  9. Bottom half of the table material.. Would you have defended Freddy if he wouldn't have brought in defensive reinforcements? Not at all, but the club is in a period of complete and utter overhaul. If we all feel that the club can get through the first half of the season on the squad we have then there is no need for us all to be panicking. The squad is very thin and I agree I would feel better if we did have mpre resources at the back but I do not think we are under threat of relegation. It is getting said in almost every interview about how long its going to take to get us back up to the top part of the league. Unless we are expecting CL qualification next season, we should only be concentrating on consolidating our position.... which if I remember correctly when Sam was appointed was what most people on here wanted. No one had over the top expectations.
  10. Simple question. Say the worst happens and we dont get any new defenders in in this transfer window. Are we relegation fodder or just strugglers ?
  11. Got to be Owen... he just has the knack
  12. My heads spinning at the minute In 2 months we have gone from depression with no future.... to delirium with the brightest future we have had to look forward to for years.... and now we are back to depression again.
  13. I agree From what I am picking up on this board is that too many people expected an instant fix and the immediate signing of a whole new squad of 20 players and because its not happening, the doom and gloom is starting to decend again. We have to stop thinking like this and remember where we were at the end of the season. No way was this going to be fixed quickly. in the interview he mentions being patient about the long term stability etc....he also says day by day more players are slipping away, doesn't sound like he is being too patient to me. If SA wants to be honest, what would really help us is to explain why they are slipping away. If its because they are going to clubs that are simply offering them more money then it would help us fans. I think most people on this board agreed with SA when he said that we only want players who want to play for the club. If money is there perogative then we have to support SA/Board in not begging them to come. Eventually we will get the right players and will have taken the first steps towards becoming a stable club. Watch what happens to West Ham or Fulham or Wigan if they are relegated next season. Totally f*****. I would rather didnt just chuck money at anyone just for the sake of it. It bothers me that without knowing anything, all of a sudden its all Sams and Ashleys fault. How would that help us? Also, I don't understand the consensus that West Ham are relegation candidates because they are spending big.. To me it looks like they are another club that will stand in our way if we want to challenge for Europe, just like Porthsmouth has done last season by getting in better players.. Badly worded. I meant it would just help us know whats going on and why we havent signed anyone else.

  16. just because the likes of Fulham are splashing the cash, it doesnt mean they are heading for success. For me, teams like Fulham are spening money based on the assumption that it will bring success. I prefer to think that Sam is getting the players that he feels are right for the club and not just because they had a good season with someone else.
  17. It saddens me to think we had a player of the reputation and calibre of Kluivert at the club and that we used him so poorly. I know he had turned into a bit of a journeyman when we got him but it was still a good scalp to bring him here. Wish it had gone better for him (and us) I think what narks me more is that he will continue to journey around Europe or the World and will tell people what a shite club we were.
  18. any idea when back on ?
  19. Left Back.... Left Back !!!!!
  20. It really isnt when Kieron Richardson is worth 5.5m, Fletcher is easily better and has had plenty of good games for Man U. He was outstanding against Roma last season. £5.5 Mil is an even bigger joke. I am just not convinced he has the ability to stand out above the rest if he doesnt have the likes of Giggs, Rooney etc around him
  21. I couldnt really say off the top of my head but wouldnt Geremi be out Right Wing-Back instead of Carr meaning that we only need to sort out the Left Back spot ? I cant remember if he has played that role for Boro/Chelsea or if he was more as an out and out Full Back / Centre Half
  22. I always find it hard to judge a player like Fletcher when he is surrounded by so much talent. My instinct says he would be average elsewhere. 6 Million is an utter joke of a price tag for him
  23. The Reading away game is fresh in everyone's mind. Thats not helping his case
  24. surely you cant base the future season on the first 2 friendlies at Hafrtlepool and Carlisle ?? only just managed to see Nobby's goal... quality technique
