Aye, get the flags out and make it a sea of black and white. Hopefully it'll be a sunny day and the championship trophy gleaming, while the fans are loud and proud. It may be a struggle next season, but let's make a day of it next Saturday.

Reading 1 - 2 Newcastle United - 13/04/10 - post match reaction from page 14

The atmosphere was really subdued, but i think that's been the way since we clinched promotion. Expected a much harder game. May as well have played with 10 men given Ameobis' none performance. As soon as Carrol came on he had a hand up asking for the ball, while Shola just strolled around with no hope of catching a forward pass any more than 3 yards in front of him. -
That small section at the back of the Leazes, under the balcony of level 7, used to be the family section. Then, i think it was given over to the corporates. That obviously failed, as it's always empty. Next season, it will again be a slightly more expensive extension of the family section.

Maybe i was at the wrong bus stop after the game last time, but couldn't manage to get on one. They were all chocka. Gave up and got a taxi after a while. How much did that cost? ElDiablo I think that train you mentioned is a bit optimistic with it being a 8pm kick off. £9, if i remember correctly. -
I'm off work this week too, but didn't even know the game was on, as i've been ill all weekend. I didn't even have the energy to log on to my PC. The times i've stood freezing, watching the reserves and youth teams. It would have been nice to watch on such a glorious day, despite the result.

Hope we do OK tonight, so as to set next Fridays game up nicely.

St Mirren away. Adopted them as my favourite Scottish team since my teens, many years ago now, i must admit.

Undoubtedly proud. Granted it's not the premiership trophy or FA cup, but it's there to be won and i think we'll win it. Let's enjoy it. Really looking forward to one hell of a lap of honour after the Ipswich game, hopefully parading a bit of silverware with SJP rocking.

It wasn't just Christ who came back from the dead at Easter. Well done the Toon!

Saturday or Monday, whenever? It looks like we'll do it this weekend, so a memorable Easter surely lies ahead.

I can't believe how choosy i'm being here, because at the start of the season, i thought we'd finish mid-table at best. If we don't do it Saturday, when i won't be there, i'm going to be at our next 3 fixtures and would love to be present when we clinch promotion. If we are up before KO on Monday, due to Forest losing their 5:15 KO v Cardiff, it would seem a bit of an anti-climax. Again i'm being far too choosy. Let's just get up ASAP.

I like Stuart Halls reports. Think he's on 5 live. He can make the dullest of matches sound dramatic.

Anyone see the mackems goals on Look North? Fraizer Campbell kicked the advertising board in the corner of the ground after scoring, a kind of watered down Ketsbia style celebration. The thing is, his foot went through the board and he had his foot stuck for about 30 seconds. You could see him start to panic a bit. Tit.

Middlesbrough vs Newcastle United - 13/03/10 - pre-match thread

Thats clearly not the point All it takes is one or two big mouths to drag the rest in. The people I'm talking about aren't the biggest singers or rowdiest anyway, so I'm 99% sure they'll be well behaved. Have you stopped to consider that the boro fans around them may not care how placid they are? This may be a shock but there has been unprovoked attacks on people before in this country. True. They hate us with a passion, probably more than they love their own team. They'll not think twice about setting about any Toon fans, regardless of what they're doing. This is their cup final. Saddos that they are. -
It's not the timing of games that annoys me most. It's the fact that you can shell out a load of money on travel plans for the date of a game, they change it at short notice, and you've wasted your money.

Reading vs Newcastle United Pre Match Thread - 13/04/10 - 8pm

I see Reading are only one (very difficult) tie from being in the FA cup semi, that's due to be played 2 or 3 days before we're due to play them. I hope that has no bearing on our game. Train, hotel, the lot booked for April 13th. If Reading do want to re-arrange(again), NUFC should refuse. The fans have been inconvenienced enough already. -
Think i read in Sunday Sun that he's playing for Morpeth. I commented on how he has ended up at such a lowly level. I fancy the Youth cup game on Thursday.

Is that what it costs for a refund if you don't travel? I was wondering about that. Is it £10 each way if it's 2 single tickets? The new date is 2 days after the FA cup semi, so in the unlikely event of Reading still being in the cup, would the game be moved again. -
Woeful performance yesterday, but a vital point. Granted we are stuttering at the moment, but of 6 league games this year, 4 have been against top 6 teams, and we haven't lost to any of them. Of those top 6, i think we've only Forest left to play. We've 9 home games and 7 away. I'd like to think winning our home games will be enough to go up automatically. We've been let off the hook by Forests timely downturn too.

Dad took me to my first game, v West Ham in March 1976. We had the likes of Supermac, Alan Gowling. They had Frank Lampard (senior), Billy Bonds. Mervyn Day was in goal. I remember being in the old Leazes, and everyone was singing "Mervyn Day is a puff!" I had terrible toothache and had my black and white bar scarf tied around my gob on the bus home, before a trip to the dental hospital the next day. You could say i've felt pain from that day onwards. It just comes and goes, that's all.

Was at bus stop on barrack road after game and saw loads of coppers running towards the car park by the Leazes end. A load of younger toon fans ran down the steps where the SJP signs are on the wall, and went towards the Cardiff fans and started winding them up. The Cardiff fans that should have been going to their buses reacted and the Police had to form a line between them and get the horses out. The toon fans were ushered towards town, Although an elderly man lied to a waiting bus driver, telling him the police had ordred us onto his already very full bus. That was handy. I expected wide-spread bother around town last night, but nowt in the news it seems.

Going by Brums finishing total of 83 points to claim 2nd last season, we need 27 points to equal that. 4 wins and 15 draws?
-
Anyone notice when Spurs scored the 1st, that Defoe sliced it, and the Leeds fans cheered, as it must have looked to them as if it was going to fly high/wide but ended up in the net a moment later? Had to laugh.

Did David Mills have a perm? Can't remember what No he played.
