Didn't do much but in fairness we were shocking for 70 minutes and the service was pretty poor for 90. Even so, was still half hoping he put Shola on...
-
Apparently pulled his hamstring Tuesday night, out for the rest of the season.

This. Can't wait to see him back on the pitch. Easily our most talented midfielder. Jesus wept how pissed are you guys when you watch Newcastle play with Barton in the team ?? I agree he hasn't proven much playing for us, but I'd be intrigued to see how many games he's played in a row without injury, and how many games has he played fully fit? We all know he's had massive injury problems, and he says himself he was certainly rushed back early last season - if he gets a decent head of steam up who's to say he couldn't be a success for us? (He'd better be after the massive wages we've paid him for the last few seasons...)

Always seems to come across well in interviews despite his past *ahem* discretions. Looking forward to having him back in the squad as he's still miles better than Smith or Butt... http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11688_6032129,00.html

Shambles of a thread to be honest.
-
Better than Shola, that'll do for now.
-
Yeah and screw Taylor, Colo and Jonas as well, they were in that team so they must be shit too. And all the Newcastle fans that were there, they ashamed us too. We should line them up and shoot the lot of them. Would welcome Beye back with open arms by the way.

Been getting some rave reviews since he's been down there. Mate at work is a supporter and is very much hoping they can keep him for the rest of the season, likewise Poyet has been saying the same. http://www.seagulls.co.uk/page/Latest/0,,10433~1979796,00.html

Despite everything a very good footballer who has proven as such this season. Who knows how good he could be in the right environment. Certainly wouldn't mind him playing for England either.

Quite rightly left a shambles of a club with an awful manager, money or not he absolutely 100% made the right move. Good to see an agent getting screwed over for once too. Some of the bitterness towards one of the best players this club has had in the last ten years, a player who if we'd have had in the great Keegan sides of the early 90's we'd have probably won the league, really does make me pity our fans sometimes.
-
Personally would take Parker over Batty.
-
Amazing this happens when we don't play bloody Smith or Butt.
-
Likewise feel awful for Le Sib - hope there's some way we can show our support for him.

What this business about Chopra at the Palace game?
thenige replied to Big Geordie's topic in Football
Fair play to Chopra, again goes to show how fucking stupid a fair number of our fans seem to be. Reading stuff like this always makes me cringe. And to be fair, there's a number of supporters at a number of other clubs (Man Utd fans throwing bottles at Bellamy etc) who manage to show what utter cretins they are week in week out. -
To be honest he probably saw our central midfield and suddenly thought Wigan was a much better opportunity. As much as I love this club, I look at some of our team and it isn't the most attractive one to play for right now. At least at Wigan he has a manager who is determined to play football the right way with the right players. And Titus.

Ummm, hate to be a party pooper but Routledge is shit. He's a one in five player (bit like Harewood) where every now and again he'll have a great game, but more often than not he'll do nothing, be ball greedy and generally be a waste of space. Honestly though, hope he proves me wrong and at least it gives us a proper winger on the right, but would be very surprised if he sees out this three and a half year deal with us. Here's hoping he proves me completely and utterly wrong mind...
-
He can't sign a pre-contract with an English club until a month before his deal ends, so that's probably unlikely.
-
Defence is no worse than a few Premier League teams. Midfield is a liability defensively, and probably why we got relegated in the first place.
-
I think he still manages to intercept the ball and dive in for challenges which to the untrained eye make him look as good as ever. What people tend to overlook is the fact he's only lunging in because he's got no pace, and the only reason he's had to intercept is because he's given the ball away again with a shocking pass. I really don't think he offers us anything at all on the pitch other than experience. But we could always play Roy Hodgson instead, he's got even more experience...

First time I saw the second goal thought Harper had just been soft, but on the replay the guy clearly hooked his arm with his - absolutely blatant foul. Yet our second was miles offside so can't complain too much.
-
Internally there were many rumours of players not getting on, Parker was aware the club was 'unprofessional' compared to those of a similar stature - but yeah you do have a point. Maybe not 'clearly' falling apart, but with the wages of some players and the money which was/had been wasted, it was more than a guess to see some aspects of our club weren't the greatest.
-
I can't believe people are giving Parker grief for telling the fans to f*** off. You compare him to other players like N'Zogbia and Shola who haven't given anything back. Isn't the reason obvious? They don't give a s***. They put in 50% of the effort Parker did when he was playing for us - I'd have been absolutely fuming if I'd been as committed as him for a club and then fans get on my back, especially considering some of the useless players in the same side. Zog and Shola strike me as the type of players who when the fans are barracking them are thinking of their next pay cheque or night out. Likewise a number of Newcastle players in the last ten years or so. I don't blame him for leaving, the club was clearly falling apart and he'd had enough. Like with any job, if your boss, work colleagues and MD are all clueless and just not very good at your job, you'd be an idiot not to be thinking of going elsewhere.
-
Still think we treated Parker horrendously in the end. Despite the so-called never ending circles, he rarely gave the ball away and was totally committed. Just a shame some of us got on his back.

104 for me as well, missed some right bloody sitters. Scholes ffs
