aye, because we need a forward. Spot on. Can't go signing good FM players when we actually are crying out for CM's and FB's.
-
I'd bet he brings Taylor back and moves Bassong to LB, just because Enrique looked super shaky today. Don't think I'd particularly agree with that decision to be honest.
-
I suppose the free kicks Smith frequently concedes just outside the penalty area are slightly less damaging than Butt conceding penaltys. Problem is he's more likely to play them both.
-
Duff was knackered by half-time. I'm sure Kinnear would turn around and say Jonas was tired, he did look it when he came off, but bear in mind he'd done about a 40 yard run just before. I've stood up for Duff for a while on these forums, trying to give him the benefit of the doubt but at the moment it seems one of his legs would have to fall off before he gets subbed before Jonas. And him and Enrique just don't link up well at all, best left-sided combo I've seen this season was when Zoggy was LM and Bassong was LB.
-
Agreed, love the way Enrique would rather do anything than pass it to Duff
-
Taylor or Samba IMO.

Would almost not mind Shay going for a couple of reasons, one to show the rest of the world he's as good as he is (when a stupid amount of people I speak to rate Reina, Almunia and Cudicini higher) and also to show the fans here without a clue how much we'd miss him. If we are actually going down the shitter, might as well sell our best players

Guardian: Shearer clears way to become Newcastle manager
thenige replied to thewellander's topic in Football
I absolutely guarantee Shearer is exactly the sort of manager that would base his entire team around Butt. There still seems to be too much of an 'old boys club' mentality with some of these ex-players. -
Honestly I may get slated for this but if the fans hadn't have turned on him so much, we should have never got rid of Parker. Fair enough he's not exactly an attacking threat either, but due to Butt's inability to do much than lunge in occasionally and sometimes remember his experience to read the game - Parker would be twice the player in our midfield.
-
Martin O'Neill, but no way he'd leave a solid team like that for a shambles of a club like us. :-[
-
Completely irrelevant because they played in two completely different teams in two completely different circumstances.
-
Thought he was average at best. With him and Joey both playing we're crying out for someone who can put their foot on the ball and play a decent pass, whilst also being able to join the attack. Joey can take the defensive role and get someone else in, either Guthrie or someone in January. Made a few decent interceptions but by no means had a great game.

I'm still peeved the fact he the fans 'Player of the Season' last year, yet seemingly no-one in the press or at the club have any idea about it.
-
Absolutely spot on. Especially with Liverpool, from James to Westeveld to Dudek and now Reina - all proclaimed as better keepers and in my opinion none as good as him. James may have improved with age, but he's still an accident waiting to happen. If Given would have been at any 'top 4' club not only would he have a cupboard full of medals, he'd be rated without doubt as one of the best 'Premiership age' goalkeepers, instead of people saying those like Gomes and Almunia are better (see FM2009 attributes for details)
-
Has the physical attributes of a Sunday league player. Has the technical attributes of a substitute Sunday league player. Reads the game well but other than that well past Premiership standard.

Looks like good news (touch wood)

I reckon Shola had a decent game for us tonight, but if you go back and watch his performance at very few times did he put much pressure on the defenders, not to mention our entire team was much deeper at this point. Carroll certainly looked rusty but after that long out you couldn't expect a great deal more, Kinnear simply put him on because he was big and the manager was hoping he'd be able to cause some havoc in the air and win some balls. I think the problem here is too many people have heard whisperings about him off the field and the fact he's apparently a 'bit of a chav' and that's done him as far as they're concerned. Really not on, there are a lot of footballers I wouldn't want to go have a drink with, that doesn't mean I wouldn't want to play football with them. Give him a break ffs, we're too busy looking at people to blame and reasons to have a go rather than looking at the positives.

Shola Fashanu with his razor-sharp elbows, can't wait to be honest.

Happy Birthday Habib Beye!

I dread to think what his tab stands at by now.

I forgot about this thread! Wooo!

I'm guess the Mercury one is either Lucas Radabe or Robin Friday for either Kasier Chiefs or SFA, the Heskey one is Ivanhoe - did them two without the power of Google. Is the Cricket one Phil Neville?

Born in Oxford, now live in London

The point is if you hate him that much and feel the necessity to, boo him when Chelsea play Newcastle or any other team if you must, don't boo him when he is representing the three lions. If we booed Titus Bramble every time he made a mistake for us...oh wait a minute...

Now - Aaron Lennon Past - Lee Dixon, for getting Ginola sent off in a Carling Cup Qtr Final Not sure how people could hate Roy Keane to be honest, without doubt an absolutely fantastic footballer.
