  1. I saw this earlier today. It's my dream job. I called my wife, but she's not willing to relocate to England, so I won't apply.
  2. The conversation about Everton's kit has been fascinating, but might I add: http://www.footballshirtculture.com/images/stories/fsc05/linfield_08-09_umbro_away_kit__shirt.jpg
  3. I bought a ticket to the MLS All Star game only to see Solano. I'm gutted. Should have seen it coming, though. I'd be happy if he came back as a squad player, but I don't think it's going to happen.
  4. I was happy when he signed, but now I really don't care if he goes. I'm not pleased that he'd go to the Mackems, though. But that's only because I got Duff's name on the back of a Newcastle shirt last year. Won't be wearing that anymore if he goes to Sunderland.
  5. I always liked Emre, but I think this is a good deal. I'm not terribly sorry to see him go and I wish him all the best.
  6. Subside Sports is the best IMO. Good selection, no problems with them at all. I've also bought from Kitbag, but I wouldn't recommend them. I second this. I've never had a single problem with Subside Sports.
  7. I just think they're really nice jerseys. Just my taste, I suppose.
  8. I feel like a huge loser over how excited I get over new Newcastle shirts being launched. I buy them all (including 3rd jerseys) which is just terrible, by any standards. But I can't help myself. The new Werder Bremen kits are class, btw. http://www.footballshirtculture.com/images/stories/fsc05/werder_bremen-08-09-kappa-kits.jpg
  9. I think the US obviously have more developing to do, but I think on any given day, they can get results. I wouldn't underestimate them. And it's far too early in soccer's development in both the US and Canada to be too harsh in judging our teams. North American soccer will come along in time, I'm sure.
  10. Apologies if this has all been said before - I haven't read all 7 pages of this thread. It seems like the wage problem can be at least partially remedied by offloading Duff, Smith, Barton, Geremi and Viduka and bringing in younger talent. To me, that's a win-win and this isn't a big deal. The underachievers in our squad should go and we should finally start building around the young, hungry players. Obviously, it will require some work in the offseason to make sure we target the right people and more patience on the fans' part will be required, but our previous system has failed and I think Ashley's wanting us to lower the wages can only be a good thing.
  11. As an English-Canadian, I will be sick to my stomach if England doesn't win this game. England 2 - 1 USA
  12. I just went to their shop's website to look at their new kit and the picture for the ladies kit is of Carlos Edwards (I think). Sometimes it's just too easy.
  13. If he comes here it will be because he wants to play regularly and improve, imo. So, I think we would get him looking to recapture his old form. Could be wishful thinking, but I choose to be optimistic, if we sign him.
  14. I'm slightly worried about our transfer policy and whether or not we'll have the funds to be competitive in getting key players. Only slightly, though.
  15. It says 2010 in the first post. Not sure if that's correct or not, though.
  16. I doubt that Keegan and Wise would want their young players playing on the artificial turf day in and day out. As for the money issue, every MLS team has a "designated player" slot that falls outside of the salary cap, and I beleive that the league pays part of the salary while the club pays the other part. All the players are actually paid by the league, if I remember correctly. TFC sells out every game and pushes a lot of merchandise. They could probably afford to offer Ameobi competitive wages. I doubt that anybody will offer him what he's making at Newcastle, though.
  17. The guy makes millions to play football and all he can do is sulk. Just kick the damn ball.
  18. You had me all the way with that first part. Alan Smith? No thank you.
  19. I didn't care who won, but Drogba is my all-time least favorite player, so I would have been sickened to see him lift the trophy. I was actually disappointed that it was Terry who messed up, though. I like him as a player, and he works his butt off. The real story is how absolutely idiotic Drogba is, however.
  20. We still have the so called "designated player" position open. I think Toronto could afford him. I would love to see him here, personally. Actually, I'll take all the washed up Newcastle players! He would do well in the MLS, no doubt, and would fit well into Toronto's system.
  21. Also, can anyone recommend a site that sells a bigger variety of tops from around the world? I know ArgentineSoccer has a good selection of Argeninian ones. www.subsidesports.com I've never had a single problem with subsidesports.com, and I use them often. Top notch company, imo.
  22. I'm kind of surprised that someone is willing to pay for him, tbh. Sounds great to me.
