  1. LOVE the long queues and huge crowd jostling to get at the merchandise !!!!
  2. Yes, there is a definite chance (a strong chance) that the club will be able to buy the St James' Metro Station Car Park land back. Particularly with Jamie Reuben involved, as the 'Reuben Brothers' already own many large areas of the City Centre already, and property/land development is his primary business!
  3. I am only telling you what the local media call it !! Their mastermind specialist subject is "getting things wrong" - particularly the Chronicle!
  4. The St James' Park Metro Station Site (One St James') consists of four large buildings. 1 x Residential, not for students. 2 x Office Blocks. 1 x Radisson Red Hotel (the tallest block of the 4).
  5. Here is a CGI of what has been approved to be built on the "St James' Metro Station Car Park" site. The local media keep calling this 'Strawberry Place', which it is not called. Strawberry Place has already been built around the Strawberry Pub (it is now the Home Group Office Block). The St James' Park Metro Station Project (seen here) is called "One St James' . . .
  6. Here is the Strawberry now surrounded by the new "Home Group Headquarters" Office Block . . .
  7. As I understand it, that phrase is being used because the actual 'effective date' of the transfer will not be until this Friday, 1st July 2022. That is because the current accountability period for FFP ends on the 30th June, and wef from 1st July the next period starts.
  8. Here are the recently approved plans for the area to the south of the Arena. The Arena can be seen marked on the plans just to the north of the development . . .
  9. A definite wind-up, Mr Ashley!
  10. In fact it is very unlikely, in fact historically it is almost impossible, for all the top 4 teams (at any time) to be "improving year in and year out". They will change their personnel, as will we (which we currently have more scope for) with the objective of improvement. However, those changes they make will very often either make them stay at roughly the same level (with different names) or will not work out, so will have actually made them worse. Sometimes those changes will improve them. Yes, with intelligent and hard working leadership at various levels (which we have and are still obtaining) there is great scope for the unique organisation that we now are (since October 2021) to catch up with some of those that are already at the level that we aspire to be at.
  11. And I cannot think of a better equipped wealthy set of owners to lead that (very essential) fight, than our three owners . . .
  12. EXCELLENT summary of the situation. EXCELLENT work by Howe, Staveley, Ghodoussi, Ashworth & Co. WE are already great with this lot working for us - just think of all the years to come . . .

More like a submarine I think, old son, and a very 'out of date' one at that!

How many centuries ago did that short-lived daft name exist??

Cannot agree with that 'signing Neymar' stuff, we are quite a few years away from that sort of thing! Also, what is this Premier "ship", are you sailing away somewhere?
  16. Yes, I feel the same, I think we can all just sit back, wait, and R E L A X !!!
  17. Tony Green was great. November 1973 was a very sad time . . .
  18. You will feel a lot better by July, as we all will!
  19. I think that he will be the first of - from now on - a long (long) line of high quality players that will want to come here. They will choose us, and choose us above most others, and eventually above ALL others. It hasn't really (fully) started yet, but B O Y when it gets going it will be very enjoyable. I am aware that a lot of us are still having a problem with assimilating the full extent of our changed circumstances . . it just hasn't "sunk fully in" yet!! The ambition of our new owners is limitless . . . and we supporters will be the long term beneficiaries of that unlimited ambition. E N J O Y !!!!!
  20. Yes, I agree, we will not rush him out the door but we got him at a particular time for a particular reason. It was a 'unique' set of circumstances for us at the time, one that I do not see being repeated again in the future, with the overall level of investment we will routinely make from now on. So, his level of achievement with us so far might mean that he will - himself - be happy to move on, as other forwards arrive.

    In memoriam

Albert was a regular highlight on Total Sport. He always talked common sense and always explained how he formed his opinions and why he was saying what he said. He obviously had a great affection for our club, as we all have, but he was able to communicate that affection along with his knowledge, every time he rang in no matter what the specific point he was making was. I will miss him at tea-time during the season. RIP.
  22. Do you think Wood will still be here? I'm not 100% certain that he will be.
  23. Not optimism, definitely not optimism, just the evidence of history (plus common sense). Integration of countries with other countries and with the 'public' (not only the 'football public') of those countries is how we share good practice and knowledge and thus can mutually grow and develop. Major sport is one sure way to speed up these processes. The one way to ensure that this does NOT happen is to cut countries off and demonise them. So, definitely not 'optimism', - just realism. (Where have I heard that before . . . )
