  1. This is the major reason for players like Smith certainly I reckon. I can't imagine Ryan Taylor being on much to be honest and he's useful backup. Smith just serves no purpose... especially considering his ridiculous estimated wages. It's hockey where the contract is bought but in football the player is bought and then he will be offered a new contract with other terms! We could just let them for for free but you're right about one thing(reminds me of one Aston Villa player from a few years back) when he's just happy to raise his huge wage week in week out and isn't really bothered is he playing or not! I guess Smith and Xisco won't be leaving even for free as they won't get contracts on similars terms anywhere else even if they were just let go...well it's all down to Shepherd's era when he tried to buy fans with these so called star players! Well that's the thing, isn't it. It's not really their fault they got offered so much money but my life is so far detached from what they've got I can't imagine the greed of someone not willing to take a dip of 20k or so in weekly wages in order to get regular football, when you compare it relatively to what they'll still be earning. I don't know, I just can't imagine being of that mindset but of course I don't live that life so I'll never be able to truly comment on what I would or wouldn't do. MichaelNUFC - I reckon R.Taylor is alright for backup, he can cross fairly well, has an alright shot and can take a set piece. I'd rather have him cover the right wing since he's familiar with that position for a game or two rather than someone like Guthrie that cuts in and weakens the overall width of our play. R.Taylor isn't the best at defending.. but that's why he's backup I guess.

  3. He's in a better place now. Knowing Xisco though that place would probably involve poppers and body glitter.
  4. I thought they looked poor yesterday and are relying massively on Tevez. I doubt they would have scored if he wasn't playing yesterday, he scored two and assisted the first. On the other hand, we rely massively on Carroll. Their team just has more quality throughout and never had to get out of 3rd gear since they'd shut up shop after 5 minutes.

    Joey Barton

He sold Scott Parker in June 2007, a few days after taking full control off Shepherd as I recall correctly. We hung onto Parker until we could get Barton here, although it was Allardyce that wanted Parker out, he certainly didn't want to leave. Selling over the managers' head he has never done. He's certainly signed unwanted players though and that's just as bad really.
  6. would that be the jose fonte whos mrs pardew allegedly had it on with? He was eating that pussy like chicken chow-mein. Allegedly.
  7. Birmingham found not to be in Nottingham. Bizarre. It's about 45 minutes up the road and the difference in weather is extreme. Stop being a dick for the sake of it, although you are very good at it.
  8. They meant agogo. http://www.remo.com/photo/catalog/6/45/37/big.jpg Carnival!
  9. What good was that to us? I wouldn't say we were going down, but regardless of what he's done in the past and where we were in the table, we were in relegation form when he was sacked. And you could say exactly the same about our record with Keegan. 5 wins out of 19. The point is, there is far, far more evidence to suggest Allardyce would have kept us up than not. His record with Bolton, Blackburn and even us to some extent, points to a fairly strong conclusion. What a f***ing daft conclusion. Bolton and Blackburn were teams built on sides with physically large players especially up front. The thick fat b****** Allardyce didn't have enough nous to adjust to the players we had and tried to implement his anti-football tactics with players who were bought for different qualities altogether. What a f***ing thick c*** he was. A f***ing thick c*** who took a team from around 19th to finishing 10th in the space of 18 months. Not to mention the brilliant job he did at Bolton. We have no idea who Allardyce wanted to sign for us. It's been firmly established in the past 3 years that the manager of our club has little say in such matters. I don't like the guy, or his brand of football. But of all the managers we've had since Bobby, he's by far the one i'd have the most confidence in to keep a poor team in the PL. His record speaks for itself, as much as the biased bunch would like to deny it. I remember in the January window when he got the boot we made approaches for West Brown & Lassana Diarra. The first our offer was rejected and the second he was asking for a crazy amount of wages so talks broke down. I agree with your post, like.. but I think that based on the type of players he brought in whilst here it was clearly what kind of squad he was trying to assemble.
  10. Aye fair play like, Best & Perch have both been poor and clearly Routledge hasn't stepped up to the mark in training. I'd like to think that his plan was to just pad the squad out before adding some quality to it as time went on.. we'll never know now though.
  11. Ben Arfa? Tiote? He's made more good signings than bad ones.
  12. Hughton was close to the players and had a bond, Pardew isn't and therefore will have no qualms with shifting on the big earners in January. With a much smaller wage budget NUFC becomes a more saleable asset. Of course we'll have no decent players, a threadbare squad and be at least one division down come the time of the sale.. but that's how Mike Ashley operates. Stack 'em high, sell 'em cheap.

    Alan Pardew

I've always got a feeling from Pardew that there's no passion there. His stance, the way he talks, the football he has teams playing.. it's all very dull and monotone. Say what you want about Hughton, but at least he had a fire in his belly. He loved the footballing side to it here and you felt that. I won't be feeling that again for a long time I think.

They both benched him and Curbishley started playing Tevez and Mascherano... eventually. Nah Masch only played 5 times for WHU. Tevez only did anything of note after Curbishley took over and ceased playing him on the flank which IIRC is what Pardew and Curbishley himself were doing. Aye I don't remember Mascherano getting much of a look in. I remember being at the 2-2 home game against them that season and I'm pretty sure Tevez wasn't being played at this point.. may be wrong but that was in January, possibly February. May be wrong, memory distorts over time

Anyone know the name of the casino? I fancy a crack at managing the club too, my Football Manager CV is pretty decent. It was the 50 club, don't think it's in operation anymore but may be wrong. It's ran by London Clubs - they run Alea Casino in Nottingham 235 in Manchester, Golden Nugget etc. I did a short placement there a few years back when I used to be a croupier. Did you meet Ashley or Llambias? If so you're probably on the shortlist too. I worked at the casino that Llambias was running at the time, it was when we had Mort. Never really saw him. Seemed alright when I spoke to him one time. Turns out he's a prick I guess

  18. Wish I could just walk away at the moment. This whole situation is just farcical... but I know I'll still be here when we're playing Grimsby away in a few seasons down in footballing wilderness.
