Well it isn't the summer anymore No shit, my point is the club are fucking clueless and have no strategy or planning whatsoever when it comes to transfers. They have a strategy, its just a shit one What's that? Players under 26 who have shown significant promise at some stage in their career Townsend has never shown significant promise. 3 goals for England 1 of which was against San Marino hardly counts[emoji38] He's played ten games for England, of course he's shown good promise at one stage or another. Was good for QPR IIRC and for Spurs at times Know a few QPR supporters that have nothing but good things to say about him so I believe there is/was potential there, just not at the expense of making Perez the 2016 HBA
-
If we can fit him in a team with Sissoko, Wijnaldum, Shelvey, Mitrovic and Perez then good, if not he's an expensive bench warmer.
-
Can only be a good thing getting bodies in and he will give us options but as I said when it first came about, Townsend is not the answer to our problems. Without at least a goalscorer being added to the squad in the next week we may as well start planning for a promotion push now.

FYP took me a minute, or should I say: Took Me A Minute.

These goons still haven't actually scored a goal in over 8hrs of football

From the same thread, we know them feels!

I quite fancy us for the win in this one tbh, confidence levels are chalk and cheese between us at the moment. If we can score early I fancy us to go on and get a couple.
-
It'll be the most exciting 30 seconds of his life, not that it's much of a compliment.
-
definitely, never understand why people call for it to be closed. He's gone, he's a cunt, fuck him. I hope you do fuck him and he gets genital herpes of the ringpiece
-
If everyone could draw all their remaining games and we win ours that would be ideal, yes.
-
13 points please. I thank you; including the sweetest 3 of them all--preferably by a comfortable margin (getting sick of all this tension malarkey). Once again, I thank you. We have to absolutely, catagorically have no choice but to beat the Mackems, one way or the other it might be our last chance for a while. Not to mention stopping the streak, would absolutely love it if we muller ed them but will settle for a win, any win will do!

Yes. I agree. But it's faint praise. My feelings about McClaren are similar to those I had about Hughton. I like him personally and the football is better than what came before. He's not a twat and the football isn't turgid. He's no world beater and it's still early doors yet, but yes in comparison to the last 5 years McClaren at this moment in time may as well be Pep. Much more likeable than Pardew and proving to understand us better as a fan Base with the football he's trying to play and looks far less like a scrotum in sub zero temperatures than Carver. The last few games along with a decent couple of signings have given us reason to believe a little again, that's all we needed right now.

Ben Arfa inept in many games he played in? A) You've lost all credibility with that one statement and B) That's fighting talk round here. Without going through the intricacies of the last 2 years worth of HBA vs Pardew arguments, rest assured Ben Arfa = Good, Pardew = Bad. Remember those two rules and you'll be alright.

Just hope the police don't get involved at this stage, ABH tbf.
-
He got a penalty and he scored, who fucking cares how? Could have bobbled over the line off the 'keepers arse for all I care.

Named in team of the week by Sky this week along side Shelvey, but more importantly also named as best signing of the season thus far, just ahead of Cech by 11 points.
-
I hope so because as much as anything else it'll instill some confidence into our lot that we've climbed back out of the bottom and puts our fate back in our own hands. I would imagine it being slightly crushing to play so well and start getting points on the board and still find yourself unable to tread the water.
-
If they keep playing the way they are and I see no way of them getting out of this malaise with their current set up I sincerely think it's one less relegation position to worry about. Tonight's game will tell us all we need to know, are they up for the fight now they find themselves down there or will they roll over and leave us safe for another week?
-
Exactly, never would have sold him for less than £25m back then, he was a beast with a lot of promise.
-
They've lost Ben Davies, Vorm, Bony and a bald bloke they saw as surplus to requirements. Nobody in the replacement chain to fill those gaps. They had a decent side with a decent manager all in good flow and it's slowly but surely been plucked to pieces. Unless they buy some real quality in the next week or so they're relegation fodder.

Long term conceding one and then (fairly comfotably) seeing out 40 mins might do the whole team confidence more good then cantering to a 3/4 goal victory I'm not sure I get your point here? Maybe I wasn't clear in my post. But I was actually pointing out that it's good that we are now creating chances and scoring goals. Something we've struggled with all season. Not that we should have beat West Ham 4-0 and I'm annoyed we didn't. A win is a win ATM. So long as we keep creating chances and scoring enough to win, I'm not overly arsed. But we haven't really done this on the road, hence the grand total of 5 away goals all season. 23 shots against West Ham, compare that against 7 vs West Bromwich, 10 against Everton and 8 against Villa. The Arsenal and Man u games yielded 15 shots each, so the chances are growing, we just need to make better use of them now.
-
Dropped to about a 5 now, we're starting to show the shoots of recovery, too early to make a prediction on how long we can keep this form up. Swansea look fucked, selling a player like Shelvey to us, even if he is a 1 in 5 or whatever they called him, is terrible business. A player that can be a game changer sold on to fellow relegation candidates it's not good business which ever way you put it.

Coloccini has taken a lot of stick in the past few seasons and not undeserved either, it hasn't helped that he's had no one of any note in front of him but during the latter part of the Pardew years he was abysmal. We've kept patience with him as a club and he's started to repay some of that patience now. He deserves the credit he's getting for recent performances but it's the least he owes us after a nightmare couple of years. I like this new Colo and let it continue until the end of the season please, ultimately though, this needs to be his last season, he's not got many years left in him and we need to be bedding his long term replacement.
-
He played central at the start of the season iirc? Anita and Colback deeper? He didn't play well at the first attempt but then he had no supply line with the aforementioned shite behind him.
-
Amazing how much different a team can look with an actual "engine" in midfield. And on the back of recent performances and public speaking Wijnaldum needs to be made Captain IMHO.
