Many have said it before but I'll say it again, he could win the Champions League (I know right?) With Palace, that in no way means he was ever or would ever have been good for us. With the help of Ashley he sucked the soul out of the club I love and even though it feels like it's gone a little way to being patched up at this point he set us back years and I'll never forgive him for that. And yes I watch in earnest, obsessively hoping and praying for the day Palace go down the pan and the house of Pards goes up in a glorious fireball. Cunt!

The Alan Pardew channel?

Happy with the window, not extatic, we made some really good aquisitions but could have done with a couple more to make a promising first team. Hopefully we won't suffer with too many injuries this season with a better management team which in itself will be a massive improvement. Intreaguing to see how we progress from here and if there will be any more strengthening in January. We really need to trim the fat with players like Williamson and Gouffran though, hopefully we can loan one or two out with an option to buy. All in all a good starting point but as has been alluded to already, probably 2 years too late

Bit early to be drawing any conclusions yet, 4 years or Pardew/Carver comedy act doesn't just disappear over night. He may very well turn out to be a defensive coach and ergo we struggle for goals/points all season. Then again there's an argument to say that rebuilding a fractured and fragile dressing room/moral starts with building from the back, learning to keep the ball and shut others out, especially with such a difficult start to the season. Albeit a league 2 side, we saw the confidence building when the shackles were off against Northampton, that could have easily been undone if we played recklessly against Arsenal. Too early to call how big the tree will be when the shoots have just left the ground. It could go either way but there's no point in writing him off after 4 tough Premiership fixtures.

One of my mates is a season ticket holder at Arsenal. We often have conversations on a Monday about the matches we've been to, and he frequently tells me how awful they were yada yada. I honestly struggle to explain to him the degree to which we are effectively talking about two different sports, the quality being so totally incomparable. His conception of "awful", FFS. It's barely in the same arena. The only way I can imagine Arsenal consistently producing an awful as bad as ours would be if they had to field a few children, or maybe play in crocs. Watching the Arsenal players fly over any time an opposing player comes near them, there's an argument there that they already play in crocks.

Happy with the team and formation, we should really hit them from the off. The difference to a similar line up appearing last year is that we're not going to be playing the same damage limitation/counter attack football that we would play against Manyoo or Chelski. I am seriously shaking my head at Gouffran though, if you have to shoehorn him in, give him a run upfront or just behind Cisse, plenty of fringe players could do with a run out in that position.

Ok so after a bit of Dennis Wise scouting he looks like he has an excellent change of pace and great acceleration but not particularly quick at full tilt. But with his acceleration and tight footwork he's good at out smarting quicker players over distance.

I'd say 2 changes of direction and a mazy run at the end 90m in 13 seconds is pretty rapid with a ball at your feet.

If he can maintain some kind of form and we get a leftback in, I can cope with that. Another product of the Pardew negativity? With confidence slowly coming back to the team maybe it can help him. Could do with someone better than Ginger Pirlo in front of him though.
