Said the same a few pages back, amazing how many short memories we have, just a season without looking over our shoulders and scrambling for that "magical" 40 point mark will be a huge improvement on most of the last 14 years.

I don't think they'll exit the window without, at least, a striker and RW, it is disappointing that we haven't secured those 2 in time to start the new season, as I'm sure it's disappointing to the club. No reason to panic just yet, teams are settling on their squads for the season ahead and will be more clear of who they're happy to leave and it only takes 1 move to start a domino effect of transfers. Players will come available and prices will drop as we hit the vinegar strokes of the window.

I wouldn't say I hated McClaren like, clearly out of his depth and got us relegated with a decent squad, but he wasn't despicable, doesn't deserve to be on that list with the likes of what we've had. 1. Bruce 2. Pardew 3. Souness Also I would put Gullit in the top 10 for his time here, but he has redeemed himself since.

You can't not love Miggy, great to see this turn around in form and that Cheshire cat like grin back on his face. Long may it continue, I hope there's more to come from him yet.

It'll just be great to have a season where we're not looking over our shoulders desperate to get to the 40 point mark. Anything more than that after the last 14 years is a bonus. People forget far too quickly.

https://m.livesoccertv.com/match/4351673/benfica-vs-newcastle-united/ Here's a list of all the channels showing the game, none from the UK unfortunately but plenty of other countries showing it for those not here. -
I'll be writing a strongly worded finger painting to pride about you

I'll be surprised if they don't flirt with relegation for most of the season, a success for them should be staying up and looking to build but they won't accept that, they want straight back in the PL and the manager will get pelters as soon as its evident they won't be doing that.

He's just become an absolute parody these days, he's a broken man, not even fellow journalists treat him with a modicum of respect.
-
It's not his fault he's not quite good enough, he's cut out the hands on knees watching the game go by and he's clearly making an effort. He should have been replaced a few seasons ago and he will be replaced soon. I'll be happy to see the back of him but purely from a sporting perspective. Not the sharpest tack in the tin but under the right leadership he always gives it his best.

Surprised at how invested I was in that game today. Womens football has come a long way in short amount of time. The Spanish winger, Shei Garcia was massively impressive, such good close control and turn of speed she has our left side on its arse far too many times. Spain by far the better side, movement on and off the ball, with and without possession was on another level, but ultimately their inability to turn that dominance into goals and the dogged English defense turned the game, Lucy Bronze the pick of the bunch for me. I also think the subs changed the game, England kicked up a gear and Spain seemed to trail off, not finding the freedom on the ball they had in the first half. My main criticism of the England squad was the movement and passing from the group stage wasn't there tonight, too many times they ran into dead ends and needlessly gave the ball away, when a simple pass could have opened things up, Spain overloaded in defense pushing 2 or 3 to the ball in order to win it back and England tried to dribble out of trouble instead of looking for that pass into the space they left.

Maxi will look a lot better when we're not so one sided and he can be marked out of the game, he's brilliant at 1v1s but all too often he's 1v3 because the opposition know that the other options will likely spoon it anyway.

Its obviously this, it's not that players are too expensive, they're just more than they're worth, which is what we won't do. Once the value drops or a player comes available that meets our value we will bite. We're trying to tame the expectations of selling clubs, the minute we deviate from that the NUFC tax rears it's ugly head for every other selling team. We're only willing to pay what we think a player is worth and why shouldnt they?

The worst part was everyone gaslighting us, telling us our eyes a lying and he's doing a great job under difficult circumstances. -

You don't need a membership, it's free for anyone in the UK -
I echo the point, there's no strict budget as such, but at the same time the owners aren't going to get taken for mugs. If a player comes available for £60m and he's a £60m player that we need then we'll buy him, if he's a £40m player and they want £60m then we wait or move on. They have the spending power but that doesn't mean not being frugal.

Wow, immense

7-0 ?
-
Mead is absolutely skinning them down the right and they're still allowing her space and time
-
Clearly going to finish 7-1 or 6-1 now isn't it? Another 6 would be nice!

Almiron is a lot better than he gets credit for. It's no coincidence that since Howe has come in Almiron has found his smile that was lost for 2 years. I think Bruce really did a number on him and he's finally starting to return to form. If he gets the chance he will improve considerably.
-
I get why people don't want him, he's a very unlikeable character, rat faced cheat. Everton would be mad to sell him unless they intend to spend 23/24 in the Championship. As much of an anticlimactic event as it would be if we did happen to sign him, there's no denying he's a better option than we have now.

Iirc he's from the Liverpool academy

Happy with all the wingers we've been linked with. Admittedly Gordon is a bit of a deflating option after being linked to Diaby, however I do like Gordon's ability, I watched a lot of Evertons games in the run in last season and he was outstanding and a core reason they survived the drop. Yes, he's a diver and dirty player, but that was Everton's modus operandi last season and he bought into it. That's something that can be trained out of him. He's fast, direct and not scared to take a man on. He might not be the glamorous signing we all want but he is a good little player with untapped potential, plus we plunge Everton further down by buying up the only other decent player they had last season.
