This. Think last year's transfer window was really, really a great one. This year it's not been bad, just not as good as last summer. Shifting Best, Lovenkrands, Smith, Guthrie off the wage bill and only bringing in one first team player and a few kids is a mediocre window at best. Is the absolute right answer.

Oh fuck the fuck off. So so predictable. Woefully short of quality at RB, lacking CB and ST cover. Ashley hedging his bets on clubs like Spurs and Everton to do shite this year, clearly.
-
Who's he supposed to be after/interested in? I can think of only Sinclair atm.
-
Wouldn't surprise me tbh. They're desperate for another striker. Would love to see us going for Berba. One of the very best strikers when he's got the ball. Our problem would be giving him the ball in the first place.

I don't blame Pardew, though. He's only got to try and put a positive spin on the fact we're run by a bloke who appears happy to just get by rather than build on the fantastic progress we made last year. Gutted beyond words that we've not improved on RB and built depth in CB/ST positions. We could be a great side, but the fact of the matter is we're still dependent on our key players staying fit in order to remain 'great'.

Would love it. A beast of bloke. I rate Zabaleta, but he's wasting his talent if he stays there to sit on the bench.
-
Know it's already been mentioned, but that throw-in directly to their player in the last 5 mins boiled my piss. Had a number of safer options as well.

Great price for him. That's 2 we've missed out on in Clyne and Van der Wiel, both of whom I reckon we could have convinced to come. Honestly no idea why we didn't go for clyne, how much was he 5 mill ? Bargain for him I think. Thought Zaha would leave Palace and if 4 mill is true for reading, thats another bargain Think Clyne was free? Not sure. Either way it's a bit of a joke.

Absolutely. Needs more game time though if we're to see the best of him imo. Very promising player indeed.

Going to be a frustrating day, this. Clear as day that we have some top players, with a little investment we could go a long way to improving the side. I'll reserve judgement until 11pm, but from where I'm standing at the moment it again appears as though Ashley's gambling on what we've got, hoping we'll somehow manage to maintain last season's progress, rather than genuinely push us on.

Bang on. Genuinely thought they were going to get that equaliser. For all our dominance I'd say we didn't have too many shots on target. Thought the performance summed up our past two games tbh. No urgency and distinct lack of killer instinct and sharpness. Going to be slow start to the season, I feel.
-
Just seen they're getting Mbia now as well. There's absolutely no thought gone into building that side whatsoever has there? They've got individual talent, sure, but will they gel? I fucking hope not.
-
No pace, no vision, no urgency, at least the times I've seen him. Dead wood imo.
-
Our set pieces are atrocious. Have even got a header on target? They were piss poor last season an'all
-
Lost all impetus here. Gosling looks very pedestrian.
-
Bigi needs to work on his set plays like.
-
Aye. Take note Ashley.
-
More to the pity. The thought of fat cunt Sam rubbing his chubby fingers together at the thought of this pisses me right off.

Tbh, I think many of us would rather have Carroll than nee fucker. It's the disappointment the he was seemingly our only remaining iron in the fire rather than a disappointment at missing out on Carroll, per se.
-
Fucking QPR, man. Bunch of twats. Still, I bet with a mate on Monday £10 that they'd sign at least another 4 players before the deadline. 2 to go!

Hugely, hugely disappointed if this is the case, will certainly be an opportunity missed, though I think the writing has been on the wall for while. Underprovisioned in key areas at one of the most important times in the club's recent history. Clearly they're hoping the kids can make a step up. Whether or not they're able remains to be seen.
