Rooney surely? I was amazed he got booked for diving the other week, but of course it wasn't even shown on MOTD.
-
I hope Arsenal win it, I like them and I hate Man U, for a rake of reasons I won't bore you with. BUT One of the main ones is that Man U fans include a very large bunch of Glory Hunters and Arsenal don't seem to. Probably because the telly commentators have a wankfest every time they're on so the fools follow them like sheep. And every pundit says "United" (grrrrrr) will definitely win everything in the whole feckin world.

Beye's header in the 93rd minute against Brum.
-
No read it again, he was due to be assistant to Robson to help him thru the bad times.
-
Robson's in that Old Boys Club along with Monkey Heid and Souness who seem to be on a managerial merry go round. Anyone would have told Sheffield Utd that he was the wrong choice. Blame the IMPATIENT FANS! They didn't give him a chance!

I fear Dunne's just using us to get us a pay rise as Richards did. Going on the form of Smith and Butt I am considering writing to KK and pleading with him that he never ever ever signs any reject from man u. If they ain't good enough for them why on earth should they be good enough for us? I can't stand Ferguson but he always gets rid for a good reason. And don't we know it. Of course Kevin will take notice of any letter anyone sends him.
-
Shame he didn't then. I've given up watching MOTD, I just can't stand it. I don't know who's worse - Lawrenson going endlessly on about our defensive mistakes, Hansen wanking over Man U/Ronaldo/Liverpool or Shearer trying to pretend he isn't a Newcastle fan. It stinks big time.
-
What - like Jenas and Dyer and Parker didn't engineer a move away? (OK mebbe not Parker) If N'Zogbia doesn't want to play for us then he can bugger off frankly. I've got every faith that KK will either persuade him we're going to be the dogs bollocks or else will realise he really does want away and get rid. A la Andy Cole.
-
Does anyone think he was the mole in the dressing room? He was interviewed on telly that day but he could have added about the Arsenal team talk off air. That would explain why KK was in such a rush to get rid of him. Or is this a conspiracy theory too far?

I'm always amazed at people in this country thinking that refs can't possibly be corrupted. Well either they are corruptible or their decision making is flawed to the point of embarrassment. How many times do Man U get decisions that other teams wouldn't? The refs may not be corrupted in that case but they are so scared of Ferguson they bottle it every time. On the other hand I was amazed to see Clattenburg book Rooney for diving in the penalty area on Saturday, but there is no doubt in my mind if that had been against us at Old Trafford reffed by Mike Riley or the clown we had on Saturday that would have definitely been a Man U penalty. And the refs come to our place with an attitude of "I'm going to show these Geordie bastards I'm not going to be swayed by them", surely its there for all of us to see? If they aren't corruptible, or do it because they're scared of Ferguson and the like they are a bunch of inadequate muppets.

Jaysus - when is it ever going to stop with the Daily Mail? When they've got him crucified? And who's the "former player" who says it's fucking chaos? - do they mean Shearer? I mean we only have one former player in the Keegan era and that's Rozenhal? They are indeed the scum of the earth.
-
Well I don't find it as painful as listening to the Arsenal game the other night, at least they're talking about the match and not a) whether Almunia could play for Scotland or not and b) Terry Butcher's trip to the toilet at half time and who he had seen. And all the time there's roars going on in the crowd as if something's actually happening on the pitch. And then every 30 seconds they interrupt to tell you the Altrincham versus Camberley score, or something.
-
He's took a massive huff then. That may explain the Hansen & Lawrensen remarks the other night. He'll be outside the tent pissin in from now on.

I wonder how the papers will twist this then? I mean Wise couldn't be more clear as to his relationship with Keegan. They must be scratching their heads on how they can twist his words. But they will. Or of course, just ignore it altogether.
-
More shoite from the Daily Mail, they seem to have a daily article attacking KK, or even two. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/sport/football.html?in_article_id=511518&in_page_id=1779&ct=5

You never know this might get the shitey journos off Keegan's back and onto Benitez, for a day or two anyway.
-
"fetch somebody who for whatever reason is some sort of threat, it doesn't work," So he has obviously been convinced when interviewed for the job that Wise was coming and he's decided that Wise holds no threat to him, otherwise he wouldn't have taken the job. Mort has already said Keegan has bought into their "vision" - are you seriously saying that Keegan didn't know about this? In every decent article I've read it says he did, so what's the problem?
-
Of course Keegan knew about the Wise appointment, it was discussed at his "interview" (see the Times article today - on here about 4 times). It was in the Daily Mail before he was even appointed, except no other paper (or messageboard) picked up on it. The papers are stirring it. Keegan made little comment because it's more Mort's business than his.
-
Aye, like this morning Henry Winter was going on about how mad it was that Wise was going to be based down South, yet if he had been sitting at St James Park 5 days a week he would've been saying how he was crowding Keegan out. You're right - let's ignore them. I'm sure Chris Mort will make a statement soon anyway and it will all calm down.
-
Very well said KAKA
-
We can't win in the presses' eyes. If Keegan was doing everything (youth policy, development etc) it would be "Keegan will suffer from burnout and LEAVE" - if we start to look like we're doing what Spurs and Chelsea are doing management wise (with Directors of Football etc) then Keegan is being undermined. I'm convinced they have an agenda, "let's get keegan out and move onto the next target". I mean they're going on and on about no goals in two games, two games? What about the 24 games under Allardyce? We're not exactly goal machines are we?
-
I think once Chris Mort comes out and makes his statement the journos won't have any reason to be saying things like this and it will settle down. I was surprised at Winter saying that, he's usually a calm voice. I was wondering whilst listening to talksport this morning (why do we listen to it though?) - do you think Keegan and Ashley and Mort listen to all this garbage? If I was them it would make me so angry I wouldn't want to ever speak to the press again.

From the Times just now:- "Dennis Wise quits Leeds to sign up for Newcastle revolution Matt Hughes Dennis Wise will be confirmed as the new general manager of Newcastle United today as the centrepiece of a significant restructuring of the club. In the biggest changes since Mike Ashley bought Newcastle last summer, The Times can reveal that Tony Jimenez, a London-based property developer, will join the board as a vice-president and Jeff Vetere, a scout for Real Madrid, will be appointed as technical director to complete a continental-style management structure working in support of Kevin Keegan. Keegan has been aware of Ashley’s plans to create a multi-tiered management team since he returned to the club as manager a fortnight ago, but had little say over its composition. It is understood that Wise, the Leeds United manager, was already being lined up before he was appointed. “I am very happy [about the situation],” Keegan said yesterday after further discussions with Chris Mort, his chairman. “That’s a fact.” Leeds confirmed yesterday that they had agreed a compensation package with Newcastle for Wise and he will leave after preparing the team for tonight’s Coca-Cola League One match against Southend United at Roots Hall. Keegan resumed talks with Alan Shearer last night about the former Newcastle captain taking up a part-time position probably coaching the forwards but Shearer will not be offered a senior role within the new structure. Wise’s appointment should not affect those discussions, however, as his remit will not include coaching and he will be primarily charged with identifying talent and buying players in the manner of a director of football. Wise and Vetere will make the initial assessment before calling in Jimenez to do the deal, though Newcastle insist that Keegan will have the final say. While many Newcastle fans will be stunned at the recruitment of such a controversial character as Wise, it is even more surprising that he has chosen to abandon his management career after mounting an impressive promotion challenge with Leeds, despite the handicap of a 15-point penalty. The Times understands, however, that Wise has told friends he no longer wants to be a manager after becoming disillusioned with the job since the departure of Gustavo Poyet, his assistant, to Tottenham Hotspur. His new position will also enable him to spend more time at the family home in Buckinghamshire as he will not be required to move to the North East. Wise will work closely with Vetere and Jimenez, who was intimately involved in his appointment and whose work for the club will be formalised when he is appointed in a part-time position today. Although his background is in property, the Spanish-speaking Jimenez is well connected in football and has a reputation as an astute deal-maker, helping to bring Juande Ramos to Tottenham as head coach before beginning work for Newcastle late last year. Jimenez has known Wise since the latter’s playing days at Chelsea a decade ago and the pair have maintained a close friendship. Vetere will also have a crucial role because, in contrast with Keegan’s first period in charge, when he scrapped the reserve team, Newcastle are pinning their hopes on youth development, hoping to follow the successful models in place at Arsenal and Seville by filling their academy with the best players from all over the world. The multilingual Vetere began his career as a youth-team manager at Rushden & Diamonds, but he was appointed overseas co-ordinator at Charlton Athletic by Alan Curbishley, who also took him to West Ham United before Vetere left for Real. On another remarkable day on Tyneside, Keegan confirmed that Joey Barton, who is on bail over an assault charge, is set to be named on the substitutes’ bench for tonight’s league fixture away to Arsenal. Barton was residing at the Sporting Chance clinic in Hampshire but now has a nightly curfew at his North East home at 7.30pm, except on match days. “His football has to do his talking now,” Keegan said."

I can remember reading that this Wise appointment was on the radar about two weeks ago but frankly forgot about it. So if it was in the papers then I can't imagine that Keegan knew nothing about it. They would have told him at his "interview". Wise will be in the background, doing whatever he is employed to do. I can't understand the hysteria tbh, or the negativity towards Mort and Ashley. It's a bit out of the ordinary and some people on here are having a nervous breakdown? Chill people. In Ashley we trust.
