Keegan is a visionary, who is motivating in a different way, in the sense you can’t help but be captivated by him and his dreams. The positivity rubs off on you and you feel ten foot tall. It’s pure charisma, someone who achieved the highest of heights (2x Ballon D’Or) but down to earth. You trusted him as above all else, he was refreshingly honest. Howe is a great leader but in a different way, more professional, more of a student of the game, more technical. He also inspires trust in the sense you know he cares, he will have your back. He will also put the work in, so commands respect. Plus he improves players, so there’s lots to gain individually. Keegan was the perfect frontman at the perfect time, the new Premier League, will give you quotes and passion and stories for days, and that will almost cover up the poor infrastructure and behind the scenes because he can sell the vision so well. Whereas the Saudi project actually needs a more understated approach. They don’t want to draw too much attention. The trust is in the grand vision and resources and the sporting project, and Howe is the perfect executor of this master plan. Both were perfect fits at the perfect time.

Lamptey would be great for the 'young RB' - has lost his way so needs a fresh start

The break came at a great time for Forest, more time to gel plus this new player, Scarpa could be a hidden gem for them. Fancy them to get out of it.

Now that Cristiano Ronaldo's move to Al-Nassr is finalising, if we are in CL next year, I can definitely see a 'loan' deal being arranged to NUFC. Pushed for by him primarily. Think it's obvious. Saudi are trying to bid for 2030 world cup and so Ronaldo is to their project what Neymar and Mbappe and Messi were to Qatar's. They'd want Ronaldo at their primary club in some way I imagine.

It was interesting that Spurs only just pipped us to him when he was signed. For years I thought what a steal at 5m, what could have been etc etc, and he's obviously more than repaid their trust in him with his first few seasons. But if he had signed for that shell version of NUFC - we probably wouldn't have even seen those amazing few seasons. So much of a players career depends on environment, right place right time, right coach etc. He's not the first who can only play very well under one manager. I do wonder if him going to Poch, no matter what team he's at could be the last thing to salvage his career. Someone who truly understands how to get the best out of him. It also could be Owen style - burned out too soon, shone very brightly but for only a brief period. Played more senior level football in his teens than perhaps he should have, as his body was growing.

Captain Steak Bakes (now managing Blackpool/revising history)

His reputation is that shot that I don’t think there’s a club whose fans wouldn’t revolt if he was announced. Perhaps down in the conference maybe but anything above he is done -
Joao Felix reminds me of Rui Costa in the way he plays. Would be great to get him 20 odd years after we only just missed out on Rui Costa.

Imagine Bruno and Bellingham in the middle. We could be the next step up for where he is now, a Premier League Borussia Dortmund? Guaranteed first choice here. Statement signing.

If that doesn't tell you how Benitez was a genius to finish 10th first season back, nothing will.
-
Yes I've always wondered that They even call him the worst PL signing ever? Was it a change in manager that affected him? Because at the time, we had the French world cup winning starting number 9 and the english world cup starting number 9. Definitely looked good on paper Riviere was much worse over a longer period of time. I thought Andreas Andersson was crap for a longer period of time too.

Might be some truth to this, Paqueta was seen as the better of the two at Lyon but look at Moyes vs Howe and you can see why one is doing well and the other not so much.

No if I remember rightly he wanted Mourinho and even asked him to be his assistant. He was knowledgeable about Continental football, even at Barcelona he chose Ronaldo when he could have chosen Shearer etc so defo wasn’t obvious that he would have gone PFM

Yes it was from earlier today that we’d have to break his clubs record transfer to sign him, which is currently 35m for Xhaka

Manu Kone is being linked to us and Liverpool. He would be the midfield version of Botman and Isak, him and Bruno would be amazing
