But you can pay for that 150k p/w from the 10-12m you would save on the transfer fee of such a player? Normally they would have expected to have paid 25m let's say, even 20m. So the budget is still there so to speak.

Yeah, Tonali, Isak and Bruno were way more 'exciting' signings in that sense. Unless you're signing a Nesta, a CB signing will never be 'that' exciting. Even his current status as 'starting England CB' was because Maguire surprisingly got dropped. Not sure under the new manager whoever he is, that his position is as certain - whereas Stones definitely would be a starting CB. That said, not complaining as he's a very good player and seems a great fit.

Never understood the hate, he only played 4 games, even scored once and had a great record of top scorer in France two seasons running, perhaps just hadn’t settled down yet in a new team and environment.
