We are cursed that whenever we buy any world class striker we are destined to only get one full season from them at that level then they get injured. Our Shearer was Blackburn shearer until the 1997 injury. Owen was that world class player in his first half season before the big injury Isak to be fair also got injured early doors but he wasn’t world class we made him that. Perhaps you could argue we got two seasons from him. We’ve not really had any other world class strikers but even for very good strikers: Remy, one season on loan Ba only one full season (he left in Jan) Rondon, again on loan Wilson we probably got one top top season out of him given he was always injured Carroll 6 months max Cisse ditto

Guivarch gets the roughest of the rough rides. He only played 4 games and he was coming from the French league so perhaps needed to adapt. He has been top scorer twice and was France’s first choice striker for that World Cup in 1998… that they won. Would have liked to have seen him settle in and play longer, couldn’t have done worse than the likes of Anderson and Tomasson after all. He even scored 1 goal in those 4 games.
