Agree with this. Miami, Ramos and Lee Kangin actually does resolve a lot of our issues. Up front and at RW. If we got £50m too it also neutralises the 63m we paid. We could flesh out the squad at RcB, GK, CM etc. would hate to see him leave and he would destroy the French league but it does logically improve us overall.

This has been the most frustrating thing about PSR, the opportunity cost. Imagine we still had some sort of regulation so you can't be free spending like Abramovic or Bohely's Chelsea, but not the unfit-for-purpose PSR which is capped at 2015 level £105m losses, not accounting for the crazy inflation since. Even just 3-4 players (inc Minteh and Anderson) would make a huge difference to us. We may have more of an appetite for risk - e.g Hujisen, or have enough for Khusanov in Jan. Or even be able to buy Guehi. 4 young first team level players give us energy and that refresh and is a good foundation. Instead those players are now lost and inaccessible unless we're willing to pay double triple what they cost. Which would cause you to go deeper into PSR deficit. It's so much hard work to actually compete these days, so many things trying to hamstring an ambitious club. Wonder what Wrexham's owners will do when they make it to the Prem.

First half we were decent. Glad to see big Joe back. The squad has got John Carver 2014 vibes. Needs the PIF equivalent of that 2015 summer when Ashley’s NUFC was the biggest spending club in Europe. Without the impending relegation obvs Even the squad players seem cooked. Target, Willock, Wilson for sure and Longstaff didn’t even come on.

Gordon all day long. Perhaps Botman. Is Joelinton considered a purple? Him also. i

Osula before Wilson going forward

He’s our new RW purple signing in the summer
-
Cunha reminds me of what I though Joelinton would be like when we signed him

I think we performed much better overall last season than this season. Last season apart from the middle chunk of the season where we had all the injuries, we performed admirably in times of injury and extremely explosive when we had the full team out. Look how many goals across the board, how many big wins, 20 different goal scorers etc. this season has been extremely patchy to say the least. As unlucky as we were last season, that’s how lucky we’ve been this season that everyone else is also shite.

Isak, Hall, Tonali and Burn have been consistent all season, Murphy too perhaps. The rest have been up and down.
-
Honestly wouldn’t mind giving Vlad a go at this point. Might surprise us
-
In FM we would look very lopsided in the team report where you would have Isak with 4.5 stars, Tonali and Bruno with 4 stars, Gordon, Joelinton, Botman, Tino and Hall on 3.5 stars, Burn, Schar, Willock, Barnes, Miley, Trippier and Targett on 3 stars, and then you’d have Murphy, Pope, Dubravka, Longstaff and the rest on 2.5 stars or below.

This is why we need a deeper squad. No competition for places and everyone is tired
-
He defo wasn’t better than Ferdinand or Ba. But still very good.

It's difficult to find that elusive player. I feel we need a mix of a few types. Barnes is the no frills finisher. Gordon is the energetic direct full of running option. Murphy is the back up, can do a good job type. We need a quick skilful speed merchant type - i.e. a Minteh or a Doku type. Then a technical player comfortable on the ball that can create, finish and combine - a Kulusevski type. I'd like to see more types of profile within the squad, which we can use for different scenarios. Think an Arda Guler type would be perfect - techie, skilful, fast, and can shoot and create.

Haris Vuckic vs West Brom
-
A game we need Linton back for
-
Maybe Tavernier should be player-manager with how much of a legend he is at that club And his first task as manager should be to re-sign the Newcastle 5 - Gael Bigirimana, Shane Ferguson, Kevin Mbabu, Remie Streete and Haris Vuckic
-
Murphy hatrick in the second half?
-
He'll destroy that league. He destroyed it first time around. Now, after playing at a more intense level at PL, along with 3 years of Howe coaching - he will be MVP in that league.
-
With Ashley we blame him because he wasn’t ambitious and didn’t grow the club and benefit from the biggest growth spurt the league ever went though so we got left behind. what ratcliffe is overtly doing is visibly so much worse. It’s taking a club already primed and taking it backwards as can be. I do understand the need for pruning if things have gotten bloated, but this is nickel and diming and scraping the bottom of the barrel in parts. maybe there’s a method to the madness and it’ll all work out. But I don’t know which play book they’re following, has anyone ever taken over a club done what they are doing and been successful? Usually it’s the other way around, they invest more.

Hadn’t seen that Rio clip in years. Was infuriating at the time. Karma.
-
Honestly think Liverpool without Salah might drop off. That’s a huge amount of goals and influence to replace.
-
Both Liverpool and West Ham spoke with Amorim and decided against him so that perhaps says a lot about what they saw in him. A little bit like us and Fonseca who was strongly linked pre Howe

This is the first round of proper renewal - the first team Howe built has come to an end. The spine that first season initially was Pope, Trippier, Schar, Joelinton and Wilson. The stalwarts of that team - Almiron, Targett, Longstaff, Wilson, Willock, Trippier, Schar, Pope/Dubravka, Burn - their time is up, especially as starters. The second round of the team, is built on a even stronger spine of Botman, Tonali, Bruno, Gordon and Isak. Hall, Miley and Tino also very strong young players to add. Anderson and Minteh would have really been useful but hey ho. There are good support players we have such as Barnes, Murphy - but there's a whole lot of depth that is missing. Honestly, if we did a Forest and bought 10 players this summer I wouldn't even be mad, we really do need a full rebuild and refresh in that sense. I'd want them to try and challenge for the title next season - especially with that spine all entering their peak.
