Probably would have been able to cheer up Hugo Ektike if he came
  2. I would say our stock as a destination is probably the highest it's been since the Keegan era, since 1997 or so. Keegan could have attracted anyone in Europe in that 1995-97 window, and we were regularly linked with the likes of George Weah, Roberto Baggio, Zidane etc. Even Asprilla, who we did get was a genuine superstar at the time, even though many don't remember him to be at that level. Players now will see this is an exciting upwardly mobile destination who now win things and will want to jump on board to be part of the ride. Even in the SBR era, we were the next rung down, the Atletico, Borussia Dortmund, Roma, Marseille level, rather than the elite. Players we were linked with were still very very good but not the highest tier - e.g. Rui Costa. Now, we may be below Man City, Liverpool and maybe possibly Arsenal as a destination to come to in the PL, sporting wise. So the calibre, especially if we get CL could be pretty much anyone except for the ultra top tier like Mbappe, Vini etc. Who would have expected we could have gotten Scudetto-winning captain Tonali, after all?
  3. No - then the momentum will have swung the other way. Isak and Barnes were off the pitch at that point and I think we'd have been too heartbroken to push through for a winner and the crowd will have gotten anxious and restless etc
  4. I agree - he's not even 20 yet I don't think. Just been called up for Spain. If he's our starting CB alongside Botman for the next 5 years - that is money very well spent. We need to stop rating players based on what they cost. Yes they got a bargain, but it came with a release clause. Like the old NUFC getting Ba for free, Cabaye for 4m and Sissoko for 2m. We're NOW the Chelsea that got Ba from us for 7m and the Liverpool that bought Wijnaldum for 25m. Same with Milenkovic, he's probably a 30m defender, not a 14m one. Forest just got a bargain at the right time - which shouldn't negate a team buying him for his full market value. This summer actually does seem exciting, lots of good players becoming available. And our players are less available and attainable than last summer due to PSR and now being in Europe and winning something.

Literally the definition not reading all that Really happy for you or sorry that happened
  6. He doesn't come across as well as Howe, all the good ebening bants etc. Howe is more of a fit for us I'd say. With Monchi and Villa, the Spanish connection and their style of recycling the squad every summer, he fits better over there. Howe prefers stability, continuity etc as a big part of his approach is team bonding, identity, work ethic and culture. Emery is more of a master tactician
  7. He came the summer after Rafa left - he did approve the signing iirc but said he wouldn't pay £40m for him. I do think Rafa would have commented a hearty congrats had we played anyone but Liverpool - which makes sense he still lives there and can't be seen to say the wrong thing Dubravka was also a Rafa signing
  8. Maybe AI will advance in the future to allow us to see how this would play out! By the way would put Ba instead of Wilson
  9. Think if both get relegated, £35-40m gets you them, plus Trafford for £30m. £100m is actually a good outlay for 3 high potential high ceiling players also on relatively low wages who could become first choice. Bear in mind we'll be clearing the decks also, plus Longstaff pure profit etc. This is a safe proven trio, which will allow us to go a bit more glamorous and risky with the purples and then a couple of random foreigners.
  10. Get Dibling Delap and Trafford and our spine will dominate the England setup for the next decade. Those two plus Hall, Miley and Tino. Definitely possible especially as we can sell how much Howe can improve them.
  11. Yes but not an Isak or a Tonali level Dibling / Harwood-Bellis would be a Hall and Tino type Mbeumo / Guehi would be the Tonali type Guler would be a mixture of Isak/Hall in that very young but one of the best youngsters in the world
  12. Glad we got him over Szoboslai Much better suited to us - if we had gotten Szob - it would have meant Bruno at 6 - not his best position Tonali unlocks Bruno so we get the best of both worlds
  13. Dibling yes defo - he can play across the front to be honest. I would also take another high level RW ABout time we had some bloody options. I would like a creative 10 type of player - especially for Europe. I think it was Aston Villa on the opening day last season where I last remember a strong team and a strong bench.
  14. Yes Perhaps more than we think. I do think it'll be a proper changing of the guard. Longstaff, Wilson, Lascelles, Dubravka might all be sacrificed for new blood. Maybe even Trippier, Willock, Targett, Pope too (depending if EH wants to keep the experience) Vlach will probably go too. That's minimum 4 highly experienced players gone (6 if you include Almiron and Kelly) - with a maximum of 8. A third of the entire squad. So it'll be a proper refresh. I'm expecting 3 first team starters (GK, RW, RCB), 2 youngsters and a couple of backup types. Not sure if some of the youngsters we've gotten in will be first team ready by that point. GK: NEW Pope OR Dubravka (knowing they're no.2) Vlach (could leave) Ruddy RB: Tino Trippier (could leave) Krafth RCB: NEW Schar Lascelles (could leave) LCB: Botman Burn LB: Hall Targett (could leave) CM: Tonali Bruno Joelinton Miley NEW Willock (could leave) Longstaff (could leave) RW: NEW Murphy LW: Gordon Barnes ST: Isak NEW Wilson (could leave) Osula
  15. Have to say it’s annoying they got Chiesa for 10m who never plays for them, he looks decent and could defo have done a job for us, depth across the front line and potentially even starting in front of Murphy
  16. We lack the depth, but first XI I agree purples only Salah = Isak Trent = Hall Szob = Tonali Gravenberch = Joelinton Mac Allister = Bruno Diaz = Gordon VVD = Botman We don’t have an Allison, Konate. Their ST ( Jota Nunez etc are probably more highly rated than Murphy but Murphy more productive) Tino is better than Robertson a few purples in the summer and a few freebies for depth and a couple of youngsters and we can catch them up especially if Trent Salah and Van Dijk leave
  17. This guy has got next level speed and stamina - that sprint towards the end was crazy
  18. Yes agreed - he's above all of those characters for me - plus that 5th season was the best year of Ashley's era. Even though I hated him for the Ben Arfa treatment, he still got Ba, Cisse, Ben Arfa, Cabaye and the others to perform to a high level that season. He's been complimentary consistently enough to know that it's authentic

    NUFC photos

He wants videos instead How about the video of Yasir saying this is the first... it's definitely not the last

    Dan Burn

Miley to score second half to have the 2025 version of Mil-Burn

    England

Lee Carsley would have had MGW, Gomes, CHO, all the players he knew from before in. And probably deservedly so on this season's form.

    Dan Burn

If anyone was going to guess on a random Newcastle inclusion in the England squad, everyone would have said Murphy. At a push, Miley (if wanted to blood him around experienced players). Don't think anyone would have put money on Dan Burn - but he has genuinely been solid so it's well deserved. Makes me think Tuchel could be very refreshing, as a foreigner he's less naturally biased and exposed to the Southern media nonsense as much as an Englishman. Plus Tuchel has always thought highly of Newcastle as a club, even contemplating coming here before McClaren I believe? Or post Rafa, I forget which.
