His record with Wimbledon, not the best squad and shoe string budgets compared to Grant's one year at Chelsea with a gazillion in his budget and a squad full of already made stars. Neither is good enough for us though, but Kinnear is the lesser of the two evils. Not to mention I've made a fairly long post going on about what I base it on just two posts above yours f***ing hell, Im not the biggest fan of Grant myself but Im really struggling to see where your coming from. Grant is worthy of an appointment on the basis of alone that he's not Kinnear, its difficult to say he did a brilliant job at Chelsea, Id like to see how kinnear would do at Chelsea in the exact same circumstances, my guess is that CL final, PL runner up and Carling Cup runners up would be nothing but a pipe dream in Jose's little potato head. You can't compare it that way though, as our situation at the time Keegan left didn't call out for someone who had managed a major club, it called out for someone to come in and stabilize the ship. And when nobody else came in, we got Kinnear. And he was probably quite a long way down on Ashley's "to-call list". On the other hand, he has experience from handling a situation similar to our current financial predicament, and has done well in the past with a s*** side by hammering into their heads a "us against the world" mentality, just what we appeared to be needed, and still seem to need at the moment. Having appointed Avram Grant at the same time would perhaps have been a better choice of manager on paper, but he has never been used to a shoe-string budget, nor a relegation fight or to attempt keeping morale up in a club the entire world seemed to think would blow up due to all the turmoil. He has a name, that's it. We don't know his ability with a club that's not filthy rich and already have a successful squad. I'd not have been willing to take such a chance on a manager just because of his name, hence why I think Kinnear under our current circumstances is the better option of the two. And will remain the better option until we have a bottomless transfer kitty or an already successful squad. Though then again, we'd not be looking at Grant as he'd not be good enough anyways. Kinnear is a manager for teams that have an uphill struggle. Grant is a manager for teams that don't have any struggle because the players are good enough to work without a manager. I'm amazed people even need to think about who'd they'd rather have of Kinnear and Grant. Just because Kinnear hasn't done all too well with us, does not mean Grant would have done better. I'd gladly put all my money on the contrary. I still think neither are good enough for us though, as I've said before. I just think Kinnear is the obvious lesser evil here. its never been a question which of the 2 i prefer! I dont want any of them.....dont believe they can offer what we need! definitely not kinnear...he cant develop the concept i would like us to have...and Grant i dont see as the man to turn everything around here!

1. Makelele was'nt any good at this time 2. Why was Drogba focused, and why isn't he now? 3. Incorrect. It was almost an entire season. On top of this Scolari made his signings in the summer and aside from Bosingwa failed. Grant bought one player, Anelka who has been a very good purchase. I'm not saying Grant is an excellent manager, Im saying that saying he's not good enough for us is preposterous. drogba and essien were brilliant last season....and this season they both been injured alot...dont underestimate the importance of that! grant did well for chelsea....but cant really see him being successful here.....at least not at this point!
-
that was my point about robinho!
-
ok ok....maybe im wrong! All im saying is that i dont believe A. grant is the right person for us....and personally i would prefer someone else! Of course what he did for chelsea was almost perfect.....but if scolari & chelsea had the drogba with the form from last season and robinho i serious believe they would picked up 5-10 points more this season and scolari would still be there. ....i know its scolaris fault he want all in for robinho
-
Drogbas form this season and scolari missing out on robinho have cost them 5-10 points this season.....thats why he got sacked...which is stupid in the first place! grant had a perfect squad when he took over after mourinho.....of course grant did a good joob....i just dont think he is anything special....personally i dont want him here!
-
Yet Scolari (world cup winner) struggled. Different time. i believe grants chelsea side were better than scolaris!
-
i dont want avram here...rather martinez or bruce....any really! Dont rate grant....what he did at chelsea everyone could have done!!

It seems like that but the evidence doesn't point to that necessarily. Ashley did originally sanction Allardyce's expensive buys of Barton, Smith and Enrique, not to mention Viduka, Cacapa and Geremi on big wages. Since then we've sold players and purchased players without weakening the squad drastically...in fact it's a lot better than the one Shepherd left behind. As money is released from shifting deadwood it's possible that more money will be re-invested into the squad year on year rather than at the end of a period of four years belt-tightening. I like the plan....i dont mind some years without big signings, getting rid of deadwood and hopefully see a few youngsters break through! ...BUT if the plan should work we need a new manager (right know) to make it happen. A manager and good coaches for the reserves and youngsters to kickstart the concept of football Ashley wants us to play the next many years! And when we get a new manager after the next....the club and squad is in balance and dosen´t need someone to come in with totally different ideas!

i think lars Jacobsen would cover for hibbert. He haven´t really played for them since he arrived in the summer! difficult to say if he is better than hibbert, thinking of his rutine!
-
He's proven that he can promote a team from League 1. its good enough for me! I´ve seen alot of managers doing well after a big step up in there carrier. If he has the right personality, ambition and good at handling his squad, why not? its a bit risky, i know.....but f... it! Most managers starts somewhere (often lower divisions) we could also go for sven g and hans backe or scolari if you prefer that! all i really want is stability....someone to be at the helm for 3+ years.....so after a couple seasons his squad is exactly how he wants it (more or less). Only that way can we progress. would love to see someone build an attractive style of football and concept....which we haven´t had for a long time. It will probably take time before we again can challenge top 6 every season.....but i believe the only way to do that is developing a concept over a long period......if we manage that....it will also be easier to replace managers because of a developed concept and stability within the club and squad... maybe im dreaming....after all it is newcastle!
-
i dont really want him here anymore....unless we sign a new manager before the end of the season and owen wants to work with him....and accept a cut in his wages....he is not worth his wages now!
-
dont know much about martinez....only read here and on wiki! but it sounds like he has proven himself already....young promising talent to stay for 3-4-5 years! We should get him right know! I MEAN RIGHT KNOW!
-
get well soon, joey! But tbh i hope this means you will take care of your self and not us! leave the job asap.....you are not our long term manager....Ashley should move for our new manager!

Xisco joins Deportivo on loan until the end of the season
sugoinufc replied to LoveItIfWeBeatU's topic in Football
would love to see him become a 1st team regular banging 20+ a season if or when owen and viduka leaves in the summer we still have a few forwards: Løvenkrands (if he stays longer) Martins carroll Ameobi (smith) Xisco ranger -
happy to see a fellow dane in the b&w shirt....but that it is løvenkrands is just funny! didnt like when we signed him....but hope he can keep up the good work! At least he will be a decent squad player which can operate on the left and up front! Always thought he was a left winger....maybe i was wrong?

Harper S. Taylor Colo Bassong Enrique Guthrie R. Taylor Jonas Nolan Løvenkrans Martins

Beautiful thank you...something to build on!
-

-
not watching...but sounds like ameobi aint doing much.....please bring on xisco or smith for so game practice
-
looks like løvenkrands is about to prove me wrong....and i LOVE IT....keep up the good work, lad
-
guess he could be good on the right side of a three man attack? for example: lualua martins viduka - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - in fact we should play with three forwards.....we have so many players who could work in that system. of course we need to have 3 good midfielders available. options for 3 man attack when fit. løvenkrands, smith, owen, martins, ameobi, viduka, carroll, lualua, duff, xisco, (ranger)
-
Leon Andreasen.....håber snart hans karriere kommer ordentlig igang! håbede lidt på vi gik efter ham i dette vindue!

You are so right
