Management seems totally incapable of handling any situation professionally. This isn't that hard of a problem. If he has an issue wearing the logo, you meet with him, let him know that you appreciate his concerns and will try to work with him to address the situation. But you also lay out the facts that he has a contract with the club, that the club has a contract with the sponsor, and that those contracts present certain limitations on what each party is entitled to do. If they can reach a reasonable resolution within the confines of those limitations, great. If not, then promptly do what needs to be done to mitigate the harm to the club. Above all, do it quickly, and do your best to keep it out of the press.

Like it or not, the fact is that the world of PL shirt sponsors is populated by scummy corporations: Emirates dafabet Malaysia Samsung GAC Logistics Chang Marathonbet Cash Converters Standard Chartered Etihad Airways Aon Wonga Aviva aap3 Bet365 BFS Group GWFX HP Zoopla Alpari You could pick nits with any one of those sponsors, but that's not a footballer's job.

Following his conscience or not, he's breaching his fucking contract (presumably).

So was Freddie Kanoute in that case. Difference there was that Sevilla's loyalty was to their star player, while we don't actually give the first fuck about being good at football so we're standing up for the loan sharks that we've jumped into bed with. Why did Kanoute wear the shirt after a game or two, anybody know ?. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2007/apr/05/newsstory.sport

It's all so fucking stupid. He's a professional footballer. He knew going in that his shirt was going to have the name of a sponsor that he'd have no role in selecting in big bold letters right on the front. It's part of the gig. If he's unhappy and wants to move on he should man up and say so. If he's really having a moral/religious issue about this, then he's fucking stupid.
  6. The blue box makes the shirt icons on the main forum page look weird. 2/10 wnb.
  7. Would it be wrong to say that i want to see this video? Are you a coroner or undertaker? Both? Checks out okay.

We're not that easy to get rid of. Like lice, we are.
  11. Is there actually any reliable evidence of a bid being in the works? It would be such a counterintuitive transfer.
  12. Why did I break my promise to myself not to check the football board?

I'm not finding this all that reassuring. Certainly better than him leaving. But still leaves me totally meh.
  16. Giving everybody the greatest benefit of the doubt possible, how did they let Kinnear--a notably bad media representative--get out there and do his drunken uncal shit right out of the gate? At the very, very best it's unadulterated incompetence.
  17. I refuse to let this man steal our mojo.
  18. I'd be pretty happy if he left the club and spent some time with his grand kids, calling them funny names. That's just me, though.
  19. Yeah, being really reasonable and moderate has been a hallmark of Ashley's tenure.
  20. Shearer Yeah, some ass covering, but you know what, I would too.
  21. You know what this calls for? Corporate team building exercises. Two hours for Ashley, Kinnear, Carr, and Pardew to build a bridge across the Tyne with 52 popsicle sticks.
