Was Helen McArdle's CBE, she's made her fortune running care homes

Fair dues, avoiding it because you feel less attached to the state of modern football is very different to avoiding it because you don't think you can't face the prospect of potentially watching us get beaten And I get where you're coming from, so much about the modern game is ruining the sport. It's increasingly hard to watch something that feels so removed from what it was supposed to be

I’ve done this in the past ahead of vital games when I felt I couldn’t mentally cope with the prospect of losing It was connected to much bigger issues around anxiety, catastrophic thinking and obsessional behaviour. Which fortunately I’ve now made a lot of progress to address At the end of the day, it’s just a game of football. We’ll win or lose and life will go on And in the bigger picture at least we’re playing in cup finals and the club has ambition again, this is a world away from the doom of the Ashley era

They could also try to get tickets via the 10am member general sale, but all of those costs would still apply And getting more than a couple of seats together in a block is highly unlikely, whether you're doing it via ballot or member sale. There's little to no chance of organising a gang of pals to be near each other

The club could could make low cost straightforward changes to fix the atmosphere Massive swathes of safe standing in Gallowgate and Leazes, designate them singing areas Standing & singing section in L7 next to away fans Break the family section down into smaller sections and spread it around the ground Have cheaper tickets for 18-25 year olds and make it easy to go as a group Make it easy for ST’s to move if they want to get in / out of a new standing area Do massive comms around the changes, so people know that matchgoing fans are being given the tools to make more noise, but it’s up to them to deliver It’s embarrassing that it’s needed but do some comms about getting involved, turning up with a positive attitude, learning songs & chants, keeping phones in pockets etc Make it very clear that all of this is for the greater good. We need to be United through the changes And if that doesn’t work then we are completely fucked

Same daft cunts who film a game with their phone when they could watch it in ultra HD on a massive fucking telly
-
Having watched the last couple of home games on telly rather than being there, it’s noticeable how many of our crowd shots show middle to old aged blokes sat stony faced with their arms folded and arses glued to seats Presenteeism is the word that immediately comes to mind

That Plymouth away end when it was still 2-1 looked utterly tragic Given a good account of themselves against Man City and yet they’re all either sat down looking like they’re at a wake or stood up playing with their phones Magic of the cup

The thing is about long term attendance is that inevitably, the atmosphere suffers. You constantly have to find new and erotic ways of spicing things up in the stadium. Someone said in another thread about having an ST but not having the same level of enthusiasm for games as in the past. They were just being honest. And I suspect that’s a wider issue. Doesn’t matter if they’re a member or an ST, but people go out of habit or fear of missing out, rather than being excited to be there and using that excitement to fuel the atmosphere. Got no idea how that changes though. Would a spanking new stadium possibly get people excited again ? Short term could it be reconfiguring seating to put like minded people together ? At a very basic level mixing up the pre-match routine so it’s not the same every time ? Felt like DJ Onedek did a good job of this for the semi *Be warned, suggesting pyro will mean ructions*

And this was almost a decade ago now. Yikes.

You forgot the most visible one...

What's your view on season tickets being a closed shop ? Is it just tough shit, you weren't here with an ST in Oct 2021 so you're not anything off us now ? What message does that send to the latest generation of younger fans who are coming up through the ranks ? It's nearly 5 seasons since Ashley left, the teenagers who are the best age to be NUFC daft are locked out of aways and had a miniscule chance of a cup final ticket
