Oh dear. Some proper childish stuff in here at times. Some like Pardew, many don't. Let's leave it at that.

Typical.

Think it's pretty safe to assume any combination from our selection of centre backs are going to struggle against Sturridge and Suarez.

SSN now, why when these guys with the ipads in their hands and stand talking to the "experts" have to do that stand look at big touchscreen, turn look at camera, look down at ipad, look at camera, look at touch screen. Repeat. Really irritates me. Plus the fact they don't even need to be holding the damn ipad

Did Sir John Hall make a racist joke about Les Ferdinand ages ago?
alexf replied to Big Geordie's topic in Football
Sorry Toondave I tend to just associate "jokes" such as this about the colour of someone's skin, with racism. Call it casual racism, call it what you want but I still consider it a form of racism. If that makes me a "do-gooder" or whatever then so be it, I don't mind. -

did I say I think the word black in itself is racist? No. What I said was I find someone that insinuates he can't see a person with Les Ferdinand's skin colour because he is stood next to something black as wrong. -

You think saying the word black is worse than saying he couldn't see Ferdinand because he was stood next to something black? ok then I think what I typed was quite clear, but I'm saying that someone stating what he said as being racist simply because he acknowledged the fact that ferdinand is black, albeit in an insensitive manner, is more racist than what was actually said. Nowhere did Hall imply that ferdinand was any worse for being black, if anything he implied he was far superior than whites at hide and seek (at least in a kitchen environment), but all the liberal high horsers however are implying that ferdinand is worse off for being black and must be stood up for or felt sorry for. Did I just get called racist for thinking something someone else said was a bit racist? -

Taylor was part of the defensive horror show against liverpool last season so not keen on bringing him straight back in, plus it's doubtful he'll be match-fit. Obviously he plays a lot better partnered with Colo of course, like all our other centre backs do.

why is the title still a question like it's in some sort of doubt whether he was being racist or not? -
Don't think you can criticise Remy if you're a QPR fan. One of the few players that showed his quality in a short time and actually scored goals.
-
They're at home and have dragged this out so they will get the "Poyet" effect. We're going to need to really turn up as it's the only game Sunderland really care about. I've lost faith in Pardew being able to psych this team up for a derby. If it was the Hughton team with Nolan and co they I'd be extremely confident.
-
Just cannot shake the feeling they will beat us again and you fucking know Altidore will score probably his one and only goal this season against us.
-
I don't remember him being this slow when he arrived. His lack of mobility is really affecting his game now I've noticed.

Missed most of the talk in here today but people were talking about 8th placed finishes. I would be delighted with 8th this season. We're going to be fighting with the likes of west brom, southampton, swansea etc and if we came 8th it would mean we were the best of the rest outside the usual top 7. Nothing to be particularly proud of but would be a decent season considering the lack of investment and ambition from the board and the quality of our manager. There will always be people that defend the manger no matter what, it's their right and it's to be expected. I mean their were still people supporting Souness right up to the end ffs

Who was it who said it was too quiet in here again? Guess it didn't take long
-
So far we have shown we have some very good individual players but as a team we have frailties in defence and are mentally weak when we come under pressure.
-
Wasn't at the game but going off the extended highlights, I'd say the improved performance probably had more to do with Cabaye than Tiote. I think Pardew will always go back to his tried and trusted combination of those two though. It's unfortunate for Vurnon but just how it is.
-
Can see him definitely getting the better of Pardew. He's done it twice already.
-
Quiet you say? Ok then, how come this idiot can't get his team to perform well for 90 minutes. It's always one good half, one bad, almost every single game.
-
We need to beat someone credible I think before many may relax and start feeling positive again. The fact every time we seem to come up against anyone from the usual top 8 or so we (Pardew) shit ourselves and end up beating ourselves.

The thread title This going to be like the Thatcher thread then?

He's not as fast as Remy, like. Certainly doesn't use his pace to anything like the same effectiveness. Remy hasn't looked all that quick to me so far. Don't know if it's because he's still not fully fit but I feel like he can be quicker. He's a far better dribbler than Gouffran, more direct and has a longer stride. Not much in it I agree. Ben Arfa is arguably quicker than both over short distances too. Anyway if all three play it's great to have some pace on the counter this year after seeing our team lack speed in all areas in the past.
