  1. The MLS All Stars/West Ham match was actually pretty decent. Parker looks the same as he did for us - lots of twisting and turning no end product. Blanco's finish was classy as hell as was his assist for the first goal - he deserved MVP. Instead of posting the actual video you can go to this page and see a nice little write-up/highlights reel from the match: http://timesonline.typepad.com/thegame/2008/07/david-beckham-h.html

    Not too far off dude:
  3. That was my first thought as well. He looks a little incredulous.
  4. Gutted for him. Could never imagine losing my mother, what a horrible thing to have to go through. RIP.
  5. Awesome, thanks for the heads up.
  6. I am a fan of dark shirt+white shorts+same dark color socks - it's usually a pretty cracking look.
  7. Yeah, Nevada Smith's in NYC is the best bar in the states for Prem action. Usually packed to the brim with all kinds of supporters groups on Sat/Sun, everyone singing back and forth to each other and having a bit of banter. Show up in your Toon top and you'll be welcomed with open arms. Quality place.
  8. tbf, Harper has been more loyal than Given - he's sat on the bench his whole career knowing he was as good as Given yet not given (no pun intended) the proper chance and that when he was, it was taken from him unfairly as soon as Given bitched to the press. (and your OP is fixed).
  9. That's weird that he doesn't think he can score more than Owen.
  10. We've all got weird quirks when playing sports, things we think help us even if they don't. The bottom line is that most of the time it's either purely aesthetic or a subconscious helper - both trying to build your confidence.
  11. Man, Robinson is worse than having a load in your pants.
  12. that's the goal keeper's kit.
  13. You really need to take into account where his position is. It's easy to have more accurate passes when you're in the middle of the park passing 5 yards rather than on the touchline crossing the ball 20. Another case of statistics proving nothing, other than they can't prove anything.
  14. Was thinking the same thing - they haven't even announced it on the Galaxy website.
  15. I see Bolton joining Stoke and Hull in the relegation trash heap. Megson inspires nothing and the other two are going to be just too weak to stay up. I find it a little mind boggling that so many people think WBA is going to go down. They are a handy side and can play some really good football, they will surprise a few squads this season. If they stick to their game they can be the surprise package like Reading two seasons ago.
  16. Who says we're not? We've went for two players without anyone knowing beforehand - what makes you reckon we're not in for other players that the papers don't know about yet?
  17. One of them for sure. I always thought he was decent but not prolific or anything.
  18. Fantastic! I thought it was Smudge or something? Oh dear. I guess it was Smudger after all.
  19. I think we're waiting for a few big signings to go through (Berbatov, Lampard, etc...) and it will free the money in the market up and we'll start making more moves.
  20. There are so many back and forth opinions about Duff but the main issue at hand is: why wouldn't you want him to come good? It'd be like having a new player all over again and one that could be almost world-class again. There are no negative aspects to him coming good. He could be a really valuable player for us if he does show his true colors again (and without having to get someone new in spending valuable transfer money).
  21. Looking forward to Harper getting a chance to snatch a goal or two in his striker position.
  22. The hypocrisy of Man Utd is startling. How dare they go after Berbatov pubically after they told Real not to go after Ronaldo pubically. The problem is they know they can just throw money at the problem (after they are found to breach the rules and get fined) and are no worse for the wear. Fining them is not the answer, but unfortunately I don't know what is.
  23. You sir, are correct - 100%. It won't always be easy, exciting or fun, but MA and the "board" have our best interests in mind and are trying to make things happen for the right reasons.
  24. Last sentence isn't true at all, Warnock is, if anything, closer to being the opposite of how you describe Enrique- who actually isn't that bad going forward. Agreed. We didn't get a really great look at Enrique throughout the season like we all have Warnock. I really expect Enrique to come to terms with the Prem this season and be more comfortable with going forward. He's young and still needs time, which is the most important part, and I really hope that KK will give it to him this season.
