Never really given it any thought before but is Gordon completely useless on his left foot? His shot which was saved was begging for a cut in on the left and then he just flat out refuses to hit it with his left after Willock’s ball.

Eddie has figured that relentless high pressure football is not sustainable with CL so we’re taking a slower approach to games. This has resulted in relatively few injuries this season but the opposition easily senses weakness in us by pressing us high up in the pitch. Burn doesn’t cope very well, Trippier is slowing down, Botman isn’t great under pressure and Pope is plain bad with his feet. We’re just not able to play through it. This in turn leaves Woltemade isolated on the halfway line and he’s been found out as well. Defenders go really physical against him and he has neither the strength to hold defenders off nor the nous to draw a foul. Introduce Hall, Ramsdale and Tino and this could change drastically. Howe has hitherto come up with solutions during tough spells and I wouldn’t bet against him. All we know is that he isn’t a one dimensional philosophy-obsessed manager and that gives me hope. I really hope we can do something special for him and the team against City. They need our support and we really could slip into gear, I can feel it.

Got tactically outmanouvered today by an inexperienced manager with a lot cheaper squad. Pair that with spending almost 100 million on Elanga and Ramsay and it does not look good at all. He can turn it around but it has to happen quickly.

Looking forward to seeing Hall. Defensively we’re very good. Woltemade is struggling. Needs a lot more intensity to lead the line in this league.

Our youth setup has to be pretty tragic by PL standards if there isn’t even a young forward on the bench today. By comparison Arsenal also have a bit of a striker injury crisis and yesterday they had 18, 17 and 15 year old forwards on the bench. I’m however convinced we can turn that around in the next few years. Let’s not forget we’ve won 6 of our last 8 matches and an international break coming up. HWTL.

Thiaw and Burn been very good. Bruno hasn’t gotten into the rhythm and Woltemade drifting too much. Bilbao aren’t great, we really should be able to tie this game down.
