NUSC write up of Llambias attendance at the Supporters Panel meeting
Heron replied to Happy Face's topic in Football
I may have got the wrong end of the stick here, but if supporter groups are judged on their relationship with the board, then Toon Ultras have to be the ones with the best relationship imo. We have had contact with not only Simon Esland, but other members of the ground staff and towards mid last season we were in talks with Russel Cushing or whatever he was called and we have even had the opportunities to meet up and discuss issues with the some of the staff on a neutral ground over a few pints. Our main flaw is the lack of money...yet we as an organisation are divided in whether or not we should have membership fees..as many of us don't believe current members should have to pay. On the other side some of us think if we want to move onto better things we need to introduce member fees to raise money. I personally believe that if we as a group began talking more frequently with the club or even got given the opportunity to attend a supporters panel meeting then we could gain a lot more respect and support again. In addition to this we would offer a totally different point of view to everyone else at the meeting, imo. Dare I say it, I would love to actually go to the next meeting and put some of my opinions forward and our ambitions as a group. I probably would never get that opportunity, but if someone could provide it I would definately take it up. I think the problem with NUSC lies in the fact that everything it has done has been negative about the club, whereas with the Toon Ultras despite being probably a smaller group with less money and members it is taken in a fairly light hearted manner when discussed now by fellow supporters. We have won the majority of people over and the issues of our name seem to have faded away, we have good intentions and everyone can see it, but not the leadership or funds to grow. Anyways, i'm done babbling for now...is anyone who posts on here able to provide a contact for the person who is behind organising these panel meetings? (I'm just curious) Finally, I don't believe i'm superior because I'm a member of the TU, I just think if other fan groups or media sources get their chance than why shouldn't we?... -

Aye but could you tell us exactly what was said at the meeting without trying to twist or wilfully misinterpret everything? Actually if you ignore the sarcastic comments and just read the direct quotes from Llambias, there's a lot of pretty interesting snippets in there that clear up a few long-standing questions. It wont be a popular opinion, but he comes out of it quite well IMO. Obviously.... I never doubted it lol. But you're young. The cynicism and mistrust that infects NUSC will kick in as you get older. Aye, more than likely. I couldn't be arsed to read any of the thread I just felt like questioning it. A supporters panel is supposed to be representative of the support, and not just those aged 30+, so I guess having a Toon Ultra on would only be right in a way...but I completely understand where you're coming from. Anyways, i'll let everyone bicker about the NUSC again.... -

Let's face it, he'd be the fourth official. Only for 16 years...

Are these Supporters Panel meetings very formal, i.e. like suits, etc? Or just a sit around in a club board room and a casual chat? Also, I think the TU should have a member on there for now ... -
Should get 52,000 at the next reserve/youth game then boycott the main game....
-
Probably another 40 years of supporting them...
-
At this hour? It finished about 5 hours ago and they all live in the same city....

Her name was Lee Excuse me?

More games for our money next season
-
I wonder if I will ever hear someone say "Yeah I am, I only support them because they're good".....

6 for me. I think we will scrape a point or two against some of the games we least expect. We will win our home games against Fulham and 'Boro but probably lose at Hull and maybe Stoke... We will be in and around the shit with only a few games remaining but avoid relegation because some of the other candidates will get shitter results.

It's rediculous like. On the other hand there was a fit lass sat there with a spurs shirt on and she kept quietly singing Tottenham songs and then looking around for attention, which I also found irritating...because it was like she was only interested in it to make herself more popular. Or maybe I was just suffering from the pre-Carling Cup Final misery.... You should have went up to her afterwards and asked to feel her pain. Would have been tempting if I were single...

Today I watched both games in the student union. There was more people in for Tottenham vs Man United than there were for the first game...which is kind of understandable and I was quite looking forward to a decent afternoon of football. Newcastle played, and lost, in an absolutely s**** match, making the mood of my mates and I a rather depressed subdued one. Then the Carling Cup, as expected a lot of Man United shirts popped up all of a sudden and the odd spurs one. However, as interesting as the game was and as annoying as seeing them win yet another trophy was, what actually really put the icing on the cake for an irritable afternoon of football was a Man United fan sat just near me. The chap in particular was delighted his team won the cup, which is understandable yet again...but after sitting there silent for the whole game he decided he would start singing "Can you hear the cockneys sing?" in a rather distinctive accent. A Man United fan (with no team colours on), from London (therefore being a cockney), who was silent all game, singing "can you hear the cockneys sing?", what an absolute f***ing knob. As much as it is nice that it stops a similar club to our own (Tottenham) from being able to gloat, it makes you sick when a "proper" fan is sitting there gutted, and some t*** who supports them just to be fashionable is gloating. Anyways, I just wanted to get it off my chest.

Beye and Bassong are the two I would most want to still be here.

A foul is a foul, end of....

N 'Zogbia excited me like, I think he was one of my favourite players in his time here, but he made an arse of himself and didn't show enough fight in a poor side which made him fall in my estimations.

Who is Zinedine Zidane?
-
Just watching Sky Sports News there and Antoine Sibierski was shown - he wasn't a favourite player of mine but I always thought he played a good, hard, honest game, and he seemed to be passionate even though Newcastle was not his club. Players like Martins spring to mind, who hasn't been a total success but I still like him to play and he's probably one of my favourite players at Newcastle at the moment. Didier Domi I used to think was good too.... Anyhoo...which players used to excite or be a favourite of yours despite not being "top notch"?

A well publicised fan group can make a big effect on certain players' morale, but it doesn't mean it the group is particularly good or effective overall.

I always thought they had to blow for full time/half time when the ball was in a neutral position, or in a position where theres no chance either side could score immediately. Was surprised the full time whistle was blown last night just after Ronaldo's last free kick had been saved, I would have guessed they would have played on until it had been cleared. I don't know if it's been changed in recent seasons but the rule used to be that the ball had to be in play for the game to end and as a goal kick or free kick is taken to restart the game then technically the ref can't blow the final whistle until after the kick has been taken. The opposite occurs in rugby where the game can't only end with the ball in play. No, the rules haven't been like that. Only penalties have to be taken before the referee can blow the final whistle. Free kicks, throw ins and goal kicks does not have to be taken. Fair enough it was just my understanding, I've played in hundreds of games, pro and semi pro and watched hundreds more and I've noticed the referee blow the full or half time whistle with the ball out of play. Who did you play pro for? He's played Pro-Evo he means...
