....but did anyone see what happened in the Singing Section against Spuds? I heard some bloke got nutted by one of the bouncers who were brought in to help steward the game. If so that's absolutely disgraceful. It's rediculous to think how victimised you get as a football fan, compared to any other "type" of person. I for one thought it was really impressive when both sets of fans sung "stand up if you love football" which was started in the Singing Section. It showed a bit of unity and that people are willing to put differences aside to fight for something they believe in. Don't get me wrong, people should be allowed to sit at the game if they desire, but you should be able to stand if you want too. ....but aye, anyon know exactly what happened with that bloke? Shows how pathetic it is when they're hiring bouncers to get people to sit down!
-
Agreed, this has been mentioned many'a'time when the stewards have tried to get me and/or others to sit down.

From the stream it sounded like the away end was in fine voice throughout. Yeah the support from only 1500 was very good throughout. Towrads the end there was a raucous "s*** GROUND! s*** FANS!" followed by "40,000 Muppets" to which the home fans just gawped and offered no reply. Comical as well, how long it took the home fans to realised Joe Cole's goal had been disallowed. A good ten seconds of celebrating before the meek sit down. Your text had me in stitches, but in a rather confused fashion. I wasn't expecting it at all..."that's pride for you motherfuckers" Great stuff! No doubt we will hear all about it against Stoke... Haha. I blame the pre match pints. I though we were going to win the league! There's plenty time yet...

Standing makes for a much better atmosphere. I'd rather be with 1,000 standing fans than 3,000 that are sat down. I think it comes hand in hand tbh. Standing and singing is just what people do, and tbh I think it helps the acoustics.... You can be louder standing up, suck all that air in through your nose and bellow out a good chant. Nearly anywhere you look where there is a good atmosphere people are standing. Some examples of this are: The Kop end on a champions league night Marseille behind each goal The Bundesligas "Safe Standing" Lower League clubs like York...Jorvik Reds all stand and have banners, etc I'm sure I could go on and on...
-
Aye it is still liekly to go ahead I am just awaiting another reply from Simon at Newcastle. It is possible that the banner may only be allowed on the back wall until the end of this season. I have e-mailed back though asking for an allocated spot for over the balcony next year onwards. If they agree to that then we'll push to get it sorted a.s.a.p. possibly on the weekend we play Portsmouth away..... I will keep y'all updated though, I'll post the e-mails into here in the next 5mins....

Well it's about time....
-
That would be a good idea...either that or your lot could wear Sunderland tops....
-
On second thoughts I might play. I've bagged two goals in two games on that hallowed omniturf. And lost twice too. Nice one. Get Mark to play too...
-
Depending on how much it is to pay for the pitch we would ask people to bring an additional amount to play.... Could say like £3 a head and whatever it costs for each individual to play too...
-
We're just trying to get that design altered slightly now, so that it is longer and thinner, so it fits onto the balcony better. We are also awaiting a response from the club regarding this...
-
We are awaiting a reply regarding that, but i'm sure it will be up all the time even if it is on the back wall....
-
It has been mentioned on our 'council' forums that for us to raise money for this banner we could possibly have an 11-a-side game against some of you off here. I was just wondering what sort of numbers would be willing to play? If we said a 16 man squad for each team and we play 90minutes, roll on roll off substitutes. The game would probably take place on a Saturday, when Newcastle play Away obviously, and would take place somewhere in or near Newcastle...most likely at Westgate. So could you please click Yes or No if you would like to be involved in this, and maybe if you need to see when it is..... Please note that this is just to get numbers, nothing is arranged as of yet...

Fulham vs Newcastle United 9/11/08 Pre-match thread
Heron replied to Taylor Swift's topic in Football
theres the supporters buses which alot of people will be on and there's a trains at 7pm, 8pm and 9pm from Kings Cross to Newcastle (the 8pm is direct with no changes) some people are staying with me on the sunday night in London I am going to eb getting the bus down there at 23:50 on Saturday night, arriving in London for around 07:00. On the way home I am getting a bus to Stansted airport and flying at around 21:50. Excluding tube fees and the easybus it is costing me £32. Including them two though it has probably comes to about £45 but it's worth it since we are having the full dya there. I've got that overnight bus twice before, it's alright Did you just sleep on the way down, or did you opt for the "hardcore party animal - I party all night AND day" plan? Me and my mates had to take the bus from London when we missed our connecting flights to Newcastle. It was all right, a meal and a few pints while waiting for the bus, then slept most of the way up. Pretty simialr to our plans for Saturday night. We're plannin gon hitting the town at around 10, have a pizza or kebab or something then a couple of pints, get the old "few pints syndrome" so we fall asleep on the bus. Then we'll be fresh as daisies for Sunday when we thump Fulham 4-1. -

Correct me if i'm wrong, but I htought this topic was all about our attendances being labelled s****, when Newcastle is probably the largest supported team in the Premiership when the team is bottom. Why did it start turning into NUFC vs LFC? Also, just on a side note, I think Leeds got nearly 30,000 the other day, and look where they are.

Can I just say thanks to those who have backed up the Toon Ultras since my initial quote which sparked off the discussion. Just to reitterate what some of you have already said really; I would be the first to admit, members of the Toon Ultra forums, including myself, have in the past been very critical of other forums, other forum members and other fans who aren't in our mindset. However, I think over the course of the last 6months in particular, the "Ultras" mindset has completely changed. I don't think I ever really see members of our site post abusive or patronising posts about other fans on here anymore, and I think a lot of us are trying to work with members of this forum and not against them. So for people to try and use that as an excuse to dislike us I think is fairly unreasonable, and hypocritical considering you are doing exactly the same thing....patronising and frowning upon those who want to follow their Newcastle United in a different manner. The next point is about that whole pushing down stairs malarky. I wonder how many of you were actually there? How many actually seen this take place? How many know the actual story? I for one don't and i'll happily admit that. On the other hand, it's one mans word against anothers. Funnily enough though people who I assume are as clueless about that event as I am have also used that as an excuse. Even if it was true, then the actions of ONE member of our site is hardly enough to stereotype us on when we have about 50lads (and lasses) now who regularly attend fixtures, and the majority of them 'core' members sit in the singing section. 3rd Point; the whole Ashley out, Keegan is the messiah sort of actions and opinions displayed on our main page was initially a case of that's what the majority of members believed on our forums. However, if you were to look beyond the obvious you would also find an article on the homepage, or within our archived (if you like) articles, written by myself sharing a different opinion about it all. See here: http://www.toonultras.com/index.php?view=article&catid=39%3Atoon-ultras-news&id=118%3Athe-keegan-saga-hull-city-h&option=com_content&Itemid=65 In addition to the whole Ashley thing, I believe an NUSC banner was placed in between ours, saying "Taxi for Ashley". If i'm totally honest I even said on the day that that was s*** craic, because it portrayed it as if we were the ones backing it. Well i'm sorry but I wanted nowt to do with that that day, so the NUSC pissed me off their. However, that may have been the actions and plans of only a few, so I would be a hypocrit to stereotype them all for that. I don't want to sound too much like I am blowing the "Ultra" trumpet, but Level 7 of the Leazes was where a lot of the Ultras used to be situated and stood. Likeminded fans bought tickets on general sale and joined them. Eventually 2 blocks were standing and singing and constantly being told to sit down. Some of you may remember me posting a full portfolio up for you lot to check some time back, probably about a year ago. Well I personally believe that helped give a little push towards the creation of a singing section also, as well as all the fans in Level 7, whom many were probably not members of the Toon Ultra site. In the singing section who is starting the new songs? Where were these created? The majority are started by members of the Toon Ultra site, and are songs made on our forums. Fair enough our banners have been fairly non existent recently, but we're making the noise and have done since the first game of the season. The Ultras are massively in the minority even in the new singing section, and tbh the likeminded fans are making the difference, but why did they go their in the first place? A number of them would be because they know who will sing, shout and bawl constantly. We are probably on better terms with the club than any of the other fanzines and sites atm, and that may amaze you, but I would actually stand by that. Why? Because despite our opinions as a group or as individuals, we have been the ones to stick our necks out and do what we as a group were made to do. We're getting articles in The Mag on a regular basis, True Faith have mentioned us a few times, The Club know our aims and goals and appreciate them and try to help us, and on here alot of you are starting to show us the same respect we have began to show you. I guess some of you will never be won over though, and I guess that's something I will have to accept. We aren't superfans, we aren't the voice for all Newcastle fans, we just want people to either accept us, appreciate us, or join us. Cheers once again to those who backed me up, it's the first time I have read this thread since I last posted. Onwards and Upwards! For everything that is positive and Newcastle United related! P.S. Sorry for the essay.

I don't mind when people argue with one another, I just think it's a bit stupid when people scrap one another. I liek the fact that people argue in a way it shows they are passionate about what they believe in.

I was probably annoying the fuck out of everyone last night by shouting penalty at everything. It amused me though. I also kept singign we're gonna win the league. Just for the craic like, y'kna.... This bloke behind me always says "you spineless cunt", it is kinda irritating but my mate and I have just started singing "Jellyfish, Jellyfish" whenever he says it....so y'kna....
-
Aye, I know that feeling. I have a couple of charvas who sit next to em but they're canny lads, and 2 funny fellas behind me. One of them always says "you spineless cunt" so my mate and I have began singing "Jellyfish, Jellyfish" whenever he says it.... Everyone seems so much more happy and enthusiastic up there, I love it!

Joe Kinnear, Has got tourettes, (Fuck!) Joe Kinnear, Has got tourettes, (fuck!)
-
Aye it's great like, i'm chuffed I moved up there and I think it's only going to go from strength to strength. The standing is spreading as is the singing, so when these new songs began to get sung and everyone starts enjoying it AND the football it will be immense. Roll on the good times!
-
They have been pulished in The Mag often enough too! We have a whole page just for new songs and things we plan now!

I find it extremely amazing how NUFC.COM have managed to publish the cringeworthy bollocks of the NUSC almost immediately - all of the time. Then there is a group like Toon Ultras who have been around for a while but struggled to grow, and who have never claimed to give all Newcastle Supporters a collective voice, etc much of a chance. I'm not completely against the NUSC, I'm just fucked off at the thought that this is more about getting Ashley out than anything else. Once he is out I doubt they will know what to do or what their next plan of action will be. Just goes to show, more people are only bothered when the shit hits the fan, instead of being bothered about the club in the good times as well. I certaintly don't see people rushing out to make banners, and chanting their heads off outside the ground now, hmmm.....
