Pre-season (2026/27): NUFC to play Everton at Murrayfield on 12/08/26

You heard it FIRST from DONALD -
Of course we weren't, my point is that he chose PSG previously and ended up on the bench, which he thought was a good move for him but wasn't. I am also well aware that clubs with more recent or overall success are after similar players, but we still have to reach for players that we feel will improve us. If that means we get ones who will cherish it more, and be more focused on being the best version of themselves rather than simply thinking they already are just that then perhaps it isn't a bad thing, is what I am suggesting. It is better for the mentality of the squad.
-
For many we still are. Difference is they all seen us a step up and they've consequently stepped up. Players who thought they were bigger than us aren't the attitude that we want or need. That's not to say Ekitike still falls in that bracket (for example), he may have had a reality check, that sitting on the bench as a young man with ambition wasn't the best place to be. As players reach their peak, the squad does, then the ceiling needs lifting. Then higher calibre players want to come here to also become the best version of themselves, until such a point that they don't want to leave, because you have a hungry side competing at the highest level and the billy big billocks get shown up by them. Like Man United's squad.
-
Would rather have players who want to play for us than who think we're just an opportunistic step.

Really hope if we sign this chap the reveal is all our players and managers doing this... https://youtu.be/A3oL7v7PLac?si=iareOKBWMX0HxTXt #Wisssssaaaa

Signing next summer after Burnley are relegated.

Really enthused by this lad. Eddie wants folk with the right attitude first and foremost. Love it. It's a result of Rafa's "treat this club with respect".
-
Still our top RW. Until proven otherwise.
-
Absolutely fucking shredded here isn't he. Hope he has a better season - that front three will be electrifying.
-
That thud when Isak hits the post and the subsequent roar of Murphy scoring is glorious. Arsenal must fucking hate us man
-
They were all under the age of 16.

I agree on pricing (him being worth nearer £20m) but doesn't selling home grown unlock higher PSR or whatever and he only has a year left.
-
I'm gonna back @Andy84on this one. Lets get this over the line drew.
-
It's weird tbh cause I agree it's good to kind of get it out the way and be left to grieve but I'm so glad that wasn't the case for Matteo and Nicoló. Registering births and deaths just 10 days after their birth and then not having a network of folk at the funeral, as we did have, some 3/4 weeks later would have made the whole thing all the more unbearable for us. In some weird way the delay until the funeral preserved their life in my eyes. They were my sons in their purest form for that extended period of time.

I get the impression Mitchell came in, maybe made some fair points on the financial elements of our bids without full understanding the footballing impact, claimed he'd put it right and do better, then Eddie blew him out the water with all his players fighting for him and winning a first domestic cup in 70 years and the. All the plans Mitchell had began making back in December for the summer were blown tk bits as Eddie succeeded and the implementation of a new system with new people was ultimately dropped like a stone and a realisation set in that perhaps we just need to back our man. Because of all the uproar Mitchell has had to go and any plans have been muddled together and any business will likely be done late July - is my prediction.
-
My worry is that Mitchell's appointment/departure has scuppered this summer somewhat.
-
Cannot wait for December when folk are calling for his head again
-
Mind...Man United look like they have maybe one last roll of the dice before they drop.

18:32 but everyone was watching The Chase.

I think as you elevate to higher heights the pool of players that improve you naturally reduces. I also think because of FFP, unless you have a very vast, skilled & experienced scouting network that are capable to find diamonds in the mud - you then have a "filter" that suggests PL proven players and all of a sudden the pool becomes very short based on what is affordable and what other clubs are being allowed to do financially. That all being said, I'd find it hard to believe Howe wouldn't take a calculated punt on someone unproven if it comes to it, as he has clearly proven he is capable of getting the very best out of players. What is interesting is Mitchell's criticism of the policy - which may be right from financial standing - but from a footballing one absolutely isn't. Howe doesn't control the finances...
-
Paul Mitchell also delivered sweet fuck all in his time here mind. Admittedly, mind, no one knows the details of why...
-
That may be a factor, but that also represents a higher chance of success buying proven players in the league. The issue isn't that we are after these players in our position, the issue is that we cannot compete with other clubs that we should be able to compete with.
