If it would be possible to redevelop St. James' I suppose we could conceivably just borrow Stadium 974 and apply to site it temporarily at Castle Leazes or Nuns Moor https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/63885578

Maybe, but the EFL still have to get the FA to agree. If it does happen and the PL follow suit it'll be terrible for the EFL in the long term.
-
From what I can tell there's no confirmation of what the proposal is yet, it's just an idea being floated that is a long way from being more than that. Apparently one current way to achieve it would be to move the schedule around so that less than 50% of the games kick off on Saturday at 3pm which would allow them to get around the rule. To actually scrap the rule they'd need the agreement of the FA, who would then have to apply to UEFA to opt out of it. There's likely to be lots of opposition to it changing from clubs lower down the pyramid and so there's no guarantee that the EFL would be allowed to.

Aye, just thinking that, loving that Messi is going out having his best World Cup and taking his nation to the final and Ronaldo ended his last World Cup being benched. It must be eating him up from the inside
-
It's not their choice the blackout is imposed by the FA and UEFA, I think they're only proposing to shift around schedules to allow them to take advantage of existing allowances for showing matches at 3pm.
-
I came to that conclusion because the ball is now rolling. Anyway, it's purely hypothetical and seems incredibly unlikely to happen.
-
The position we're in now we could easily be a self-sustaining top half club if PIF walked, no need for a load more money being pumped in. Not that I think that's likely to happen.
-
Being devil's advocate, couldn't they just hand their share over to the Reubens and PCP if they wanted a quick exit? If the really did want Man U the amount they would be writing off would be peanuts compared to the cost of buying Man U.

I think there have already been similar cases in other sports that have been found to be anti-competitive IIRC. But I don't think that will necessarily change anything in relation to the ESL. It collapsed because our government said they would bring in legislation to prevent English clubs from joining (which essentially acknowledged that the rules as they are wouldn't be likely to stand up to challenge) and it's not going to be viable without the English clubs.

This window feels very different to the last two. I don't feel there are any glaring deficiencies in our squad, we don't really need to sign anyone, any signings we do make will be a bonus.
-
Under the related party transaction rules the PL would be able to make a fair market value assessment of the loan arrangement if we did that.
-
Of course there's a chance it could happen, it's not something you can talk about in absolutes. He would be very likely to be offered the job and there is a chance, however small, that he would take it.
-
I agree that he would be highly unlikely to take the job, but sane people do mad things in the name of patriotism.
-
It was allegedly about him drinking and getting into bother on nights out.
-
Not with the rumours around his exit from Burnley, the FA will only go for someone squeaky clean after what happened with Allardyce.
-
Very unlikely yes, but not zero chance. I think the only thing that would make him take the job, if it becomes avaliable, is if he feels he has a patriotic duty to take it. I don't think there's zero chance of him thinking that.
-
I don't think it's fantasy, quite the opposite, if Southgate doesn't stay on I have little doubt that Eddie would be offered the job. He's currently the most highly rated English manager and the main strengths he has shown in his coaching are in the areas England has been most deficient, I can't see any reason why he wouldn't be the FA's first choice. I don't think it would be what he wants right now in his career but I think there's an outside chance that he might see it as his duty to take the job.

I don't think the Freemen had any issue with the Castle Leazes proposal in 97, it's unlikely that it would even been proposed without their agreement because they own the land. It was stopped by John Prescott's decision for the application to be determined by an inquiry, rather than by the Council, and John Hall then throwing his toys out of the pram and withdrawing the application.

Garang Kuol: Joins Sparta Prague in permanent deal (Official)

IIRC Germany was mentioned when we signed him. -
Was there much concern from that point of view about the Castle Leazes proposal back in 97? From what I remember it was generally supported by the fans at the time.
-
And only part of it, there's probably over 100 different owners in total.

Wales especially, they're terrible. -

How the fuck did that take so long and require VAR? One of the clearest reds I've ever seen! -
That's not corruption, its just cuntary and capitalism. Corruption in its normal use implies an illegal level of dishonesty for personal gain.
