Must feel good to badger everyone around with the blunt force of hindsight. Garde would still have done decently at a club that wasn't the abortion that is Aston Villa. And everyone was simply going by previous achievements and track record, and Garde trumps McC every time. That's not true at all, Garde just doesn't have much of a CV to critique, other than doing a reasonable job at Lyon. However you look at it, at the time, in most people's eyes, there was no question of anyone preferring McClaren over Garde. Regardless of how you gauge each of their records. In my books, what he did with Lyon was far better than what McClaren's achieved and at least it was someone younger and on the up and up, as opposed to someone who'd been sacked from Derby. Winning the Eredivisie with FC Twente was a big achievement, irrespective of how patchy the rest of McClaren's CV is. What's Garde ever done that comes close?

He was Garde's top target for January as well in fairness.

For a club with an unlimited amount of money it's awful. f***ing awful losing to Barcelona two years in a row like They've looked pretty ordinary in it tbf. Not terrible or awful though Worth noting that they've always had either Bayern or Real in the group stage due to their low seeding. This year's the first that they've managed to dodge either, but were still stuck with Juventus.

If Doumbia can hit the ground running, a 7.

1-0 Milan, Alex.

kinda hard for him to help wba stay in the prem when pulis barely ever starts him in the league So what? Their chairman wants to keep him regardless, they don't need to sell. He scored 2 yesterday and makes their PL squad most weeks. He hasn't been banished to the 21's has he? If they want to cash in - which they may as well seeing as Pulis hates Berahino - then they are not going to get a better chance than now. Berahino's value is falling with every game he doesn't play and he only has 18 months left on his contract.

Cracking start to the Milan derby.

First Brazilian since Cacapa?

Don't think we've been linked specifically but Gary Cahill is said to want out of Chelsea.

Swansea have offered £7.5 mill for Dwight Gayle apparently. Would anyone take him here for that price?

He's not getting game time because he's injured all the fucking time. It's not like he's been readily available all season and McClaren's frozen him out (ie Thauvin). If anything, the fact that McClaren picked Aarons over Perez for the Watford game shows that he's still held in high regard despite his awful injury record. Aarons is obviously talented though and I'd be keen to keep him on the books under the right conditions. His injury record is a massive concern given his age though - if it persists, I'd be thinking about cutting him loose.

Townsend is at least capable of making a decision in the final third, unlike Obertan who just dithers aimlessly on the ball until he gets tackled.
-
Some definite similarities between this and the Routledge signing in the promotion season in terms of bringing some much needed balance to the side.
-
Mitrovic, for all his qualities, has been guilty of missing 2-3 big chances a game at times. Remy was fed on pure scraps when he was playing for us, often only 1 gilt-edged opportunity in a game, and still managed a very respectable return.

Based on? Well for starters his ability to beat his man and get a cross in? So nothing then? because he's never proven he can do that. Besides he's not better than Sissoko and Perez who currently occupy the wide positions. He's left footed like. Even if he's been predominantly deployed on the right in the past, I don't see any reason why he can't get to the byline and cross a football on his stronger side. Bit too dismissive IMO to completely write this side of his game off when it hasn't been part of his remit for his previous clubs. Doesn't mean anything, there's been plenty of "wingers" or fullbacks who are just not comfortable at talking people on and crossing but rather cut inside and shoot. He's never shown anything to suggest he can do the things suggested and because he's left footed doesn't automatically make it the case. He's perfectly capable of beating a man. He's got reasonable feet and he's certainly fast enough. And just because he's been played out on the right for Spurs doesn't automatically mean he can't cross a ball with his left. I'm not saying he's 'proven' so to speak, but there's absolutely no reason to suggest that he can't play like a functional left winger. Based on?
