  1. Souness thought it was a pen and a red, Carragher just a penalty. The guy doing the BBC live text thing seemed to think it was a shocking decision though.

    Steve McClaren

Aside from that stupid yellow, Tiote wasn't as bad as I thought he would be.
  3. You don't think that wrongly being down to 10 men and a goal down is a legitimate excuse? As s*** as Sunderland are, that's a substantial handicap. Even then, we were still playing all the football until they grabbed a fluky second. We went onto the field with a substantial handicap. It's called non-investment and failure to address the real issues facing the squad in favour of prioritising short-term profit. Do you think Sunderland are a well-run club by comparison like? I'm not disagreeing with you, but they are just as rudderless, inept and apathetic at the top as we are. It was a match between two laughably run football clubs, decided on a whim by an awful call. As much as I dislike Ashley, the club's business model and all the rest of it, it can't explain every single defeat or shit refereeing decision that comes our way.

  5. We'll be fine on today's first half performance.
  6. Colback now crocked because of a dangerous tackle by Cattermole. Fuck this game, fuck Sunderland, fuck this ref, fuck the PL.
  7. His final ball was inch-perfect today, absolute perfection. Won't be the case every week obviously but goes to show what a weapon he can be when it's his day.
  8. Scotland aren't a terrible side like. They're better than Ireland for my money.
  9. Bit of a footnote in the grand scheme of things, but the offside call for that Mitrovic tap-in was an absolute disgrace. Arguably even worse than that Walker one last week.
  10. He's a machine. Not as elegant as a Hazard or a Silva but makes exactly the right pass or takes the shot at the right moment almost all the time. Ridiculously efficient.

    Steve McClaren

Sacking McClaren honestly won't achieve much. As several folk have already alluded to, there is a patent, deep-seated sense of malaise within the squad that will work against any coaching the players receive. The minute things take a turn for the worse, heads drop and the floodgates invariably open. The problem is endemic; simply doing a Sunderland and axing the manager in search of a short-term fix addresses absolutely nothing.
  12. Good move. Mbabu steamed past Zabaleta on the left. Ball found its way to Wijnaldum in the channel, cracking little cross with the outside of the boot, diving header from Mitrovic into the corner.

    Steve McClaren

It's not perfect, but there's no way it should be bottom. McClaren is s****. Have you not seen this lot, man? They concede a quick goal and s*** themselves and lose the ability to think with any logic. We've got a soft centre and an even softer mentality. They seemed well prepared for this one but as soon as the going got tough, they do the same thing they always do. They're embarrassing.
  14. I don't think you can really blame McClaren for their 2nd and 3rd goals like. Uncharacteristic mistake from Mbemba and a jammy deflection for the second, a complete brain fart for the third and just a full-blown implosion from then on really. As a manager, I don't think you can legislate for the players just deciding to down their tools after conceding a goal and serving up this dross. Game plan would have gone out the window after 2 minutes. So can you not blame him either for not winning one game in 8 getting beat off Sheff Wed and total isolation now at the bottom - nope he is to blame and needs to go I didn't say anything about McClaren's record in the previous 8 did I?
