I think he'll be wanting a long-term deal, if possible. A 2 year deal takes him to 31 when he's free to sign for another club and he won't get 100k/week from anyone at that age and for any length of time. Sign a 4 year deal now and he's done with the club at 33 after collecting 100k/week for 8 years. Pretty sweet deal if money's a priority for him. There's still a good chance that he'll stay. I think he knows that no other club are as desperate (?) as we are and none are also willing to accommodate him to the extent that we are (the chopper, for example). He's captain here. He's wanted, needed even. He's guaranteed a first-team place, lots of money and the club has potential if we can sort out this mess. Villa play a different style, Everton can't pay his wages, Spurs play one up front and have got two expensive strikers and City seem to have set their sights on a different tier of talent. I just don't know where else he'd go because the top 4 are even less likely to sign him. He's smart so he'll consider what other clubs have to offer and I expect that he won't sign a contract with anyone soon. We at Everton offer an alternate resource to money - pies. Stephen Carr for shock return?

Working well provided we at the very least mix it up, but really should be playing close to 80% of balls along the floor. Long ball is OK for these two in small doses provided it's a measured, accurate defence-splitting pass (see Geremi vs Stoke) and not just a howk from the CB.
-
Anyway I thought he was excellent when he came on today, chasing balls down the touchline and keeping them in the corner - and setting up Guthrie too. Well done Shola.
-
I remember he took 2 at Old Trafford on the opening weekend - Martins scored one and planted the other just over. Then we let Milner, Duff and Geremi start doing them. Baffling.
-
For once, Kinnear got his subs right! And tbh I think Martins only went off because he looked like he had a knock. Shola was mint when he came on.

No, that sounds great. Better give it a week or so and ensure everyone is OK with it - in fact we should bold the names of each person on the OP when they confirm the 11th evening is ok. -

Imagine NE5's post match interview. "I asked the referee why he didn't award Rich a pen... he still hasn't answered my question, how would he feel about four different tackles from three different directions and two claims from the team? PS I hate Mick." -

No! And I think, Mick, you should bring NE5 with you. Maybe try and work out your differences?, then if not we'll tie him to the goalframe and blast the balls at him. -

Excellent. Be more than one set of photos, brilliant. That way you can get plenty of shots of me beating the oppo CB's in the air. -
It just seemed as if he'd accused you of going "Yeah, I love Hughes" in the past or something. Would I have him here? I would ahead of Kinnear, although that isn't saying much at all. We could do a lot worse, but we could do a lot better too.
-
I never actually commented on his ability as a manager tbf. I must have read that first post wrong?
-
Aye, except the first goal he was about 3 yards on, the secon was from a corner and therefore not offside, and the third one, well, there wasn't even owt controversial, but he still moaned about it, the nob.
-
Yes, I agree. He's a whining twat. Whilst were talking about whiney knobjockeys, I also want to say I hate Paul Ince.
-
It's a back injury apparently.
-
This has been a fucking woeful game so far. Setanta always go for Man United or Chelsea and it's always a bore draw or 1-0 win.
-
Putting El Zhar on before him, now that's just taking the piss out of him.
-
How the fuck can you say that? If they're champion material they shouldn't be 2-0 down to Hull at home in twenty minutes, should they?
-
3 minutes added on at the end, Gerrard completes his hatrick in the 98th minute tbh From 30 yards on the volley, with his knee. OOOOOOOOOH, GERRARRRRRD, YA BEAUTY!!! TIK A BOO SON, TIK A BOO!
-
Is it just me, or looking at Score Centre do Wigan have 2 goalies on the bench? They have Mike Pollitt and Richard Kingson.
-
A 1-0 loss at Old Trafford being the best result in the club's recent history, why not?

The Newcastle United Transfer Thread: D-Day [Spoiler: Not Much Happens]

In order of "able-to-get-ability" I'd probably say 1) Noble, 2) Warnock and 3) Upson. Noble was even getting benched for the likes of Collison, and he's woeful.
