You could probably count the number of meaningful touches Lovenkrands has had this season on one hand. He's totally anonymous these days, has bugger all impact on games. Really hope I'm wrong, but it looks like a fucking awful decision from Hughton.

If Shola's a 'doubt' then he shouldn't be featuring at all. Firstly, he plays like shit when carrying an injury and secondly there's a chance he'll aggravate the injury and miss even more games. Having said that, I'm not sure who I'd start up top with Carroll. Nolan isn't suited to the role, especially at home. Ranger's too raw, Lovenkrands has no impact on games anymore and Xisco is very short of match practice. Best too is just coming back from injury. I'd not be shocked to see Guthrie playing right wing and Routledge behind Carroll, actually.

I get the feeling that had he not got that silly red card in the Reserve Wear-Tyne derby then he'd still be in and around the first team 18.

Fulham's replacement for the injured Salcido only made his full debut last night, he's only 19. We'd be mental not to start a proper winger against him, someone quick like Routledge could really worry someone with little experience.

It makes it sound like he'll be involved somewhere in the matchday 18. Which he will be, obviously.
