Butt has done f*** all to warrant an improved contract. done more than guthrie this season imo and with a thin squad maybe it makes sense to try and keep those with a saleable value. Personally don't agree with that but each to their own. I think Guthrie has become an important member of our first team and I'd sooner see him in the starting XI than Butt.

Agreed. People also forget the flip side to it aswell. If a young lad, Lua Lua in this case, comes in for a first team game in our current situation, what would that do for his confidence? It works both ways. I don't see anything wrong with throwing him in personally. If he makes an error, I bet he'll be the first person willing to make up for it which sometimes cannot be said of some of our senior players.

Depends on how Taylor performs I'd say. If he comes in and has a cracking game, he should keep his place. If he has a shitter, I'd imagine Bassong will be reinstated.

Guthrie is more than capable of winning the ball in the middle and picking a pass (unlike Butt). Jonas and N'Zogbia also do their fair share of getting back. The workrate of those three would be enough for it to work.
