Greece vs Romania is boring.
I fancy Sweden to knock out Portugal, while France will do very well to get past Ukraine.
Iceland have a fighting chance against Croatia.
This year's quiet confidence is actually based on something.
Whilst 5under1and are still terrible, last year's 'confidence' was based on losing to Benfica and squeaking past Fulham. Now we've had 2 positive results, with positive performances. Our players finally look bothered.
It needs to be Colo plus either Willo or Taylor. If its just the last two, I'd be very nervous. Luckily for us, we're against Fletch & Antiscore instead of Suarez & Sturridge.
A win for us and they're gone gone gone. It'd be very tough for people to argue against that. Fair enough their fixtures after Xmas should get much better but football is very much a mental game - if they're cut adrift by then, it doesnt matter how many home 'bankers' you have.
If I'd stuck with my gameweek 1 midfield, today wouldve been:
Mirallas (13), Hazard (18), Silva (11), R Morrison (5), Walcott (inj)
47 just from those 4 FML
Entertaining match and a superb effort from our lot - especially Cabaye, Debuchy and Tiote. To get a draw after playing for 50 minutes against a better team with more players is fantastic. I thought the ref was poor, especially with the Skrtel backpass and I still don't like the 'penalty + red card' combination. We played well at times and finally showed some desire - a great setup for next Sunday's war.
Today went remarkably well, Sunderland are horrific.
Having said that, the derby is the one match that is independent of every other match. Form and momentum aren't factors and this will be a clean slate for many of their lot. It's a horrible week, a horrible day but let's hope we emerge from this war with the win. We have more than enough quality there.
Watching it with a mackem season ticket holder was such a privilege. I had no idea what to say to him but he was crestfallen at 2-0.
I think it's time to hang my coat in the Poyet Foyer.
