Bad news that. A young player who's trying to make it in the game shouldn't be anywhere near that stuff, not saying a senior player should either like but you'd think a youngster aspiring to make it wouldnt dream of it. I think he's got the potential, would hate to see him piss it all up the wall. He needs do go out on loan next season though, get some regular competitive games under his belt rather sitting on the bench or in the reserves.

Not the 15's no, My cousin plays for the U14's but he and a few others played for the 15's for this Tournament. The U14's have got a few tidy players like, they had some kid over from Texas for a trial last time I seen them, he looked pretty nifty, no idea what happened like.

I don't even think he should be kept on in any capacity. People mention him as a senior figure, with experience and influence. Those attributes didnt help us last year and didn't help Birmingham either. Mixed NUFC career in total, first two seasons were an absolute disaster, 2006/07 he was probably one of our best players and had a good 07/08 campaign. After that his form nose dived, he seemed to think he had turned into David Beckham over night, and had an awful time last season.

They signed Anderson for 18M and Nani for £14-17M (according to wiki), so it dosent look like they were looking to sell them on for a profit.

I loved Kluivert. Especially during his Barca days, I was only fairly young when we signed him so I remember being dead excited. He was very lazy however he did show some touches of class. I think if he'd played under Robson we'd have seen more of the class tbh, definately. Under Souness, despite scoring 14 goals in his debut season, he underperformed a little, as did the rest of the team. I think we should have kept him, however his wages, our failure to qualify for Europe and him playing a part in what was a season that failed to live up to (realistic) expectations played a part in him seeking pastures new. It's a shame because he was certainly a massively talented guy, infact I'd go as far as saying he's probably one of the most talented players we've had in recent times. I just think that under Robson, we'd have seen more of the sheer class from Kluivert that we unfortunatly only seen in spells here.

For those that are bothered, probably very few but Ashington beat Blyth Spartans 3-2 in extra time in the semi final of the Northumberland Senior cup. Despite one of the worst refereeing performances I've ever witnessed which culminated in playing a ridiculous amount of added time and giving a terrible decision to allow Blyth to score from the Spot in about the 9th minute of injury time to send the tie into extra time we held on and got there. Delirious scenes as we won it like, good crowd, a good atmosphere great advert for non league football in the North East. Ashington play Whitley Bay in the final at SJP after they knocked out Newcastle reserves.

I'm off to see Ashington V Blyth Spartans tonight. Their first competitive meeting since the 80's Semi final of the Northumberland Senior cup, winner plays in the final at SJP. Looking foward to it. Howay the Colliers
