  1. Love Wor Flags but I wasnt a huge fan of the display. I personally couldnt care less what Talksport had to say. I also think there's a fine line between being delighted in how the club is being ran, being happy that Ashley is gone but also lauding the fact we're being used as part of a sportswashing project. I dont know, it felt off to me. Just one persons opinion though.
  2. Big Jow and Targett to come in for this. Think Burn would struggle against Antony and Target is solid defensively. This is the type of game where we'll have to dig in, forfeit possession and try and break against them when we win the ball back. Midfield 3 of Willock, Bruno and Joelinton would give us our best chance imo. Drop Longstaff, don't think he's suited to us not having the ball.
  3. A year to the day of when it the news started to break that it was done. The relief, the excitement..
  4. Enjoy the H2H leagues like. I'm bottom of the N-O one despite having a higher score than the person in 1st place.
  5. Murphy and Almiron. Needed to bring in a winger over the summer.
  6. Agree with Stifler tbh. Changing what constitutes to offside means they'll just be drawing stupid lines between the attackers trailing foot as opposed to their front foot/shoulder. Doesnt change anything in that respect. The offside law isnt the problem, its the woeful implementation of VAR, which you could argue is completely flawed anyway. Anyway the rule is fine as it is, if any part of your body that you can score with is offisde then you're offside. Nowt wrong with that. Stupid to now tell us that a player isnt offside because his trailing foot just so happens to be in line with a defenders knee when the ball is kicked. For all intents and purposes the attacker is offside.
  7. Fraser and Almiron are both wank and im sick of them already
  8. No Tomori in the squad though
  9. Pathetic atmosphere for a pathetic team
  10. Regardless of what you think about previous tournaments and his tactical inflexibility, it's clear that it's gone stale now. Had this world cup been in the coming summer, he'd be gone now. Defeat tonight and it might well be worth rolling the dice now, but the FA wouldnt dare. Still feel like the players back him but the system is tired. We're slow, predictable and lacking in creativity and he hasn't a clue how to change it. Going to be too hard to implement something new now anyway. Limp through the group followed by a last 16 exit imo.
  11. Turkey 2-0 down the the Faroe Islands Ex NUFC man Edmundsson scoring!
  12. Fuck Bassong. One season with us after coming here on trial and he was refusing to play in order to force a move. All for ex players having an affinity and getting involved now that we're actually worth getting involved with, but certainly not players who showed us nothing but contempt before. Should be nowhere near the club.
  13. 10 most northernly v 10 most southernly you'd say. The likes of Villa would probably chop and change. At least the North has a degree of kinship. Cant imagine Norwich and Southampton feel even slightly in the same boat.
  14. I dont know. The same teams qualifying for Europe/CL. City to win 5 out of the last 6 titles. Same teams coming up and going down. Obviously, financial parity is the biggest factor, but I cant help feel the current league format entrenches the position of teams.
  15. A 15th - 18th team playoff is never going to happen as it envokes so much more risk for PL clubs. If clubs are able to finish 15th and still very realistically able to go down, that makes everyone outside the top 6 more likely to be relegated and suffer the economic consequences. Clubs would instantly lose value meaning the PL would lose value. Never in a million years going to happen, especially considering any change is likely to be voted on by member clubs too? In actual, good for the sport football terms, I do think finishing 15th and going down is harsh in a 20 team league. I'd be all for a 17th/18th placed team playoff though. Maybe even a 16th-19th tournament. Certainly one for European places. Still all unrealistic though. They want a closed shop with less risk regardless of entertainment value and sporting integrity.
  16. https://www.football365.com/news/opinion-boehly-all-star-comments-fit-the-worst-stereotypes-of-american-owners Decent article on Boehly. I think people get particularly precious about changes to English football because its clear that they're not being implemented for the right reasons. We've already seen the game basically ruined by money. The leagues are uncompetitive and ordinary people are often priced out. There has been huge benefits of the rampant commercialisation of course, but it feels like suggested change are made entirely with the view of making rich people richer without giving a fuck about supporters both here and worldwide. Of course, the horse bolted long ago but it's still a particular sore point to most about how the modern game is so sanitised. English football fans are petrified of American influence. This has been exasperated by the Super league debacle and this 'big six' none sense. Its not suprising that suggestions from an American billionaire are met with vitriol, even if it is unfair. Also, Boehly really hasnt helped himself. He's been here two minutes and been a part of English football for less than 10 games but he's already saying we should change the entire format of the league. It smacks of arrogance like. Fair enough, make points about the commercial side, but changing the format of the competition itself? Come on, at least get settled in first. You cant be making shouts like that until you've at least got your feet under the table even if they are good ideas, which his certainly wasnt. Football needs change. The leagues are uncompetitive. The financial disparity is too much and its ridiculously unfair. I'm all for innovation and change but is it going to come from a billionaire only interested in solidifying his club at the top, increasing revenue for his club and making his club more profitable? Doubtful.
  17. Yeah I don't think we're in the position to be calling anyone weird after this last week
  18. An 'all star' game would be absolutely shite. Meaningless friendly that neither clubs, players or fans give a single fuck about. Some kind of relegation playoff might be feasible but certainly not involving the cunts finishing 20th with still a shout in staying up. The real issue is the fact that most top division football leagues are stupidly uncompetitive. Same teams winning the leagues year on year aside from the very odd upset. We're in September and its obviously clear that Man City are going to win the league for what will be the 5th time in 6 years. Its utterly fucking boring.
