Don't worry about that, Ashley would miss the extra money we would get from having a shirt sponsor, I doubt having Sports Direct on our shirts would have as much potential for profit. So, Houghton is hired as manager. Then, say, 3 months later we (miraculously) find a buyer. Then what? No ones going to want Houghton in charge of the gaff, someone like Shearer will be appointed. So that means more change at the club and more disruption, even if it will be a positive (hopefully) move. Really not ideal having Houghton on a permanent deal...

I'm a tad disappointed that we didn't give Danny Webber a 6 month deal or so. Good player on his day and knows the ropes of Championship football as a striker.

On the other hand, even with the same eejits in charge, you're clearly not going to be the next Leeds. Leeds got to the play-offs in their first season in the Championship but failed to go up. The rest is history...

We'll never know how good they are at this level until we try them out. Kadar seems a fairly impressive talent although I'm not sure about Tozer as I've never seen him play. Having Steven Taylor alongside Tozer would be helpful.

I agree, Barton is far superior than Smith in terms of ability, but Smith has played well in the chances he's been given this season. It would be a bit harsh to all of a sudden drop him, wouldn't it?

Guthrie and Barton for me has the most potential, although tbf to Smith he is making a strong case. Guthrie holding spraying passes with Barton being the driving influence This has been my opinion of recent months as well. Although Nolan is staking a claim in fairness. Its going to be hard to drop him if he continues his recent form...

I'd like to try and fit Ryan Donaldson into the team. The likes of himself, Lua Lua, Krul, Kadar, Tozer, Ranger and Danquah should all be played in this game. As well as Xisco. I'd like to see us line up: ------------Krul------------- --Simpson---Tozer--Taylor--Kadar-- ---Donaldson--Butt--Guthrie--Lua Lua-- -----------Ranger---Danquah/Xisco-- We need to keep our key players fresh because with such a small squad and so many games to play in this division we will start to fall away from the leading pack if we get a few injuries and suspensions. Normally I always want to see us do well in the league cup but this year under our circumstances I think we should put this on the back burner. Although I'd still be quite disappointed to lose at home to Huddersfield in the first round, like. I feel we are capable of beating Huddersfield with that team, despite Clarky possessing a strong side. Lets hope we come through unscathed and keep the momentum going! Howay the lads!
