  1. Macheda does genuinely look like he's going to become a cracking player.
  2. "So if Barca came along, what would you say?" "I'd talk to the gaffer" "What if Liverpool came along?" "No. 100% no. It goes against everything I stand for." "But it's just a club?" "No. It's more than that." Cahill :smitten:
  3. Let's not forget Mr Riley's position as referee. Sigh.
  4. SAF clearly prioritising the CL and PL. Everton: Howard, Hibbert, Lescott, Jagielka, Baines, Neville, Osman, Pienaar, Fellaini, Cahill, Saha Man Utd: Foster, Rafael, Ferdinand, Vidic, Fabio, Gibson, Anderson, Park, Welbeck, Tevez, Macheda Despite Man Utd's weakened team, I have an awful feeling Rio and Vidic will have a strong, solid game, and that Tevez and Park's sheer industry (and canny bit of quality) will see them through. Hope I'm proved wrong.
  5. I don't know why people don't seem to rate Huddlestone. Given a solid run in the side he can be one of the best English central midfielders in the future.
  6. 28 minutes until a mention of whether Spurs can challenge the top 4 next season.
  7. Ronaldo and Rooney haven't travelled, get in.
  8. But Martins isn't on the pitch Fair play to Shearer for giving Carroll a chance from the start.
  9. The reason you would go down would be that you have less points than everyone else. The points dropped at home to Stoke are exactly the same as any other dropped points.
  10. I think that they obviously still do want it, but you must have noticed the same as I have just how toned down everyone tries to be in football. Nobody wants to put their neck on the line and make a statement saying 'We WILL do this' incase it backfires. Maybe it eases the stress on the players as well? It could be more damaging to aim for europe and miss rather than go for a strong league finish and just fall short. It's all bollocks anyway, the UEFA allocations for europe this season seem a bit all over the shop. 'Europa' my arse. Perhaps there is a bit of the whole "not wanting to be arrogant" feeling, but there's a difference between that, and optimism. No-one afaik has even said "we're gonna go for it", or least inferred that Europe is a target. It seems strange.
  11. Haha good stuff Towelie Also re: Uefa cup places - why do teams start the season looking to finish in the top 6/7.... and then at the end of the season when there's still a UEFA Cup spot up for grabs, why does the mentality turn into "well we'd like to end the season strongly, it would be nice to get that spot"? I mean ffs, there's a route into Europe in front of them and no-one seemingly wants it.
  12. I think although most of your games are (as they seemingly have been for the last zillion games) must-win, IMO it is the Pompey game above all others that will be the most decisive. A win there will not only be worth 3 points but offer real belief that you can get out of the situation, and furthermore get as many points as possible from the other 2 home games. I can also see you getting something from Villa.

Robin Hood tbh Nixon take note.
  16. He hasn't actually. It's credit to Gomes that he's managed to be worse than him though. I've said this before, Gomes has been good for us. Made some outstanding saves, but the media always need a target. Aye, the media always criticise Spurs. Start of every season they're knocking them down, telling us how poorly they'll do. They have clearly targeted Gomes. They never highlight the times he's been superb, yet constantly go on about the mistakes (do they do this with Cech? or Reina when he messes up?). Put it this way, Gomes has won us more points the he's lost us, that's for sure. More the media not criticising the big clubs as opposed to criticising Gomes.
  17. Which other keeper has been as highly rated yet performed so poorly? Only 2 keepers were singed in the summer, weren't they? Bit harsh to burn them.
  18. Which other keeper has been as highly rated yet performed so poorly? James and Cech have been somewhat unreliable, mind they weren't signed this season.
  19. You need at least 6 from your 3 home games. Anything less and you're gone: I say this because there's something telling me you're capable of winning either at WHL, or Villa Park, against a Villa side playing for little.
