He's not your best defender BUT if he gets some confidence, i.e. the team does, then I can see him and Bassong forming an excellent partnership. He's a bit like Ferdinand to Vidic (Bassong) (as a vague comparison of how I would see them work).

Aye, I just hope that it goes that way... I've seen it happen before when the chips are down. It might actually be a blessing that it's the derby and the hatred will be directed against the mackems. From the outside though the key thing is in the past, Newcastle have got through this game, not usually with a performance but with a bit of passion, be it snappy tackling, a quick start. I'm not as certain that this passon will be there on Sunday. Hope I'm wrong.

F***ing hell that was annoying. So close to putting Arsenal under real pressure, i.e. 2 points behind, but instead they're a comfortable 5 ahead, and we have to rely on them to bugger up substantially. Pleased by the progress though that a draw against Arsenal at home is no longer seen as a particularly good result. Also testament to Arsenal's stuttering campaigns of late, it must be said. But in the end, it's just another game that proves you don't get what you deserve in football. We'll play worse and win this year.

I don't really understand the "playing for a draw" statement though. No-one plays for a draw. You have to make a realistic assessment. At 1-1, we were under pressure. With already limited resources, what do you do? Imo, you sure as hell don't throw players forward. And I know he can say what he wants. I basically hate the guy, plain and simple. No dignity, no grace, a bit in the Mark Hughes mould. Should concentrate on his own team more, instead of complaining about the opposition.
