Despite the stick those at the top get, we clearly have a top notch recruitment team. Hasn't always been the case but we've clearly learned. Apart from when it comes to appointing managers. Actually it's not so much the fact you're getting these players - regardless of your current position, a club like Newcastle should be aiming for this standard of players. I'm just confused why it seems as though no other clubs are aware of all these players going for cheap. It's just bizarre. IIRC didn't you get Cabaye on the cheap without any sort of competition? There's good recruitment, then there's that. Mbiwa pointed out that we were the only club who showed real interest in him. I don't think it's much more complicated or mysterious than that. Carr has proved himself a top notch scout. A scout isn't just for spotting talent, but for having and keeping contacts throughout the world of football that give you an advantage when it comes to recruiting players who are sought-after hot properties. Maybe I've overestimated how saturated the market is. It's just the concept of getting a succession of apparently good players, on the cheap, without any sort of competition. I'm struggling to get my head around it. It's as though no other clubs exist.

And yes, I'm not hiding it very well - I'm clearly jealous you're buying player after player, while we scratch around for a few spare 50p coins to get a loan player in, all while Naismith "works hard" on the right wing.

I give up, I've got to ask. How are you getting these players, especially for these prices? Why on earth isn't anyone else in for them? Why are they coming? Cheeky happy hour with Pardew? All expenses night out at in the Goose? A tour of Longbenton? I'm baffled.

My own, somewhat simplified way of looking at things: Short-term, you look at the players who are out of form and analyse what they're doing wrong. Mid-term, you look at the manager and his tactics and what he's doing wrong. Long-term, the buck stops with the owner.

Interesting - OK, maybe not interesting, but still - to note the relatively low ratios of broadcasting revenues across the German clubs. Compare it to the bumper packages generally enjoyed in England, Italy, Spain - even France on a relative scale; makes the resurgence of the Bundesliga in recent seasons all the more impressive IMO.

Not really that similar once you get past the title tbf. Newcastle matched their bid then they asked for more unlike San Lorenzo who seem to have offered a 50p and a curly wurly. A sizeable transfer budget for us, that. Be thankful.

Think your problem may have just gone away. 74 for me after tonight. Walcott © a very wise - if not that surprising - choice in the end. Actually, that's excluding any potential bonus points for him. Cazorla, Wilshere, Podolski and Giroud probably all deserve bonus points before him. Thus I fully expect Walcott to get those 3 bonus points.

Groo, your ballboy was quite clearly trying to time-waste and was acting a dick. Hazard was absolutely in the wrong, of course he was, but don't try saying he wasn't being wound up by the tactics of your ballboy(s).
-
Pathetic from Hazard, tbh. He got the kick all wrong: http://media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m4ywyuZIDi1qgvz2q.gif

It's a very simple situation with 2 parts. 1) The ballboy was acting like a massive twat and clearly trying to wind Chelsea players up by time wasting. 2) Hazard was thick as fuck for doing what he did.

Well deserved for Swansea.

That lad's regained consciousness.

12 minutes of added time at Arsenal.

The BBC commentary has me tickled. "The Chelsea bench look bemused by that decision, but you can't go around kicking ball boys."

Laid the smackdown on that little shit.

Dave's out of control.

Is it greedy to say I'm annoyed he's only got 1 goal and an assist from 5 goals?
-
3 goals in under 10 minutes for Arsenal. Interesting.

intredasting

Yes, fucking loads.

Class goal, 1-1.
