  1. Seth Johnson Goes into negotiations with Leeds hoping to bargain up to £15k a week. Ridsdale: "We'll give you £25k". Stunned, Johnson replies "What?" Without so much of a thought Risdale returns with "£35k"

  3. I'm not sure what you're talking about, that's a real quote.

  6. I don't think its right for Gouff to become a forum meme while he is our player. Plus, logistically it will just become confusing.
  7. No surprise with any of them as far as I'm aware. Maddison is going on trial with St Johnstone IIRC.
  8. His injuries held him back more than his position. If he'd been able to stay fit, he'd have probably ended up central striker a good few years earlier.
  9. The only negative I can really take from it is the comments re: Europa League. I hope it doesn't mean we'll continue treating it as a red-headed stepchild now that we're this far in. Agreed, seems the manager, Llambias and Ashley all see it as a total nuisance. Hate that attitude, embrace it - our league campaign is a dead horse anyway.
  10. Good quotes apart from the stuff about how 'hard' it is to keep your best players. Not keen on him talking down the Europa League just because its not lucrative either, but I guess that's how most suits in football would see it. Rest of the stuff is fine.
  11. I've just realised why Froggy might think Rooney's performances were acceptable. His litmus is probably Ireland at the Euros.
  12. Thankfully he bursts out of that "shell" at club level. The main thing I'm debating here is how people are saying he isn't really dangerous anymore. Personally I find him boring to watch at club level. There is no doubt he's very effective and still an excellent footballer.
  13. Seems to me that often in international football; unpredictable mavericks > world class players used to playing in well oiled club machines. International squads are thrown together and barely play together, apart from maybe Spain this case is frequently apparent for all countries in the haphazard football. That individual spark and unpredictability, brought to the table in a microcosm like a short major tournament can be enough.
  14. The media in every big country put pressure on their teams. It's up to the players to overcome it, particularly 'world class' players like Rooney. Fact is despite his talent and character he clearly has shrank into his shell in every tournament since 04.
  15. There's a fairly big gap between 'carrying a team to glory' and turning up at major tournaments unable to trap the ball. Rooney's last 2 tournament appearances have been astonishingly bad.
  16. You guys have been pretty poor in every game I've seen, except that friendly against Scotland. But Scotland are a disease of a side. Klinsmann seems pretty meh so far.
