I don't either but I still think that's worth a couple of quid.

Yep. I hope we go down too. I actually just put a bit of money on us getting relegated. Oh happy days Jesus, it's upto 150/1 in some places.

It was relevant to the whole 'you can't criticise the people who are taking action' meme, which of course has its limits, as I was trying to highlight. I suppose placing it in the campaign thread wasn't the best idea, but that wasn't intentional, it's a by-product of jumping across multiple threads. AO should be right up your street then, since any protests will be peaceful and non-violent if it's the same as SP. It's other stuff you need to be wary of.
-
What was the point of this comment then? It's not relevant to the discussion or the thread or anything at all.

SackPardew didn't do that, this has already been explained to you. And I've already explained I never said it did. Read what I write and reply to it, don't rely to what you think/hope I said. Already too much of that going on in here. I'm referring to all the times it's been mentioned on here. There's tons of that sort of vile stuff in the Ashley thread, the first place any journo would look. But it's got nowt to do with the AO campaign and how it's being approached by those organising it, which is what you're discrediting. People in here can say what they like and it does not affect that campaign.

Hear hear. Sense at last.

They better not have re-defined the word "bellend" because I'll be needing it very soon.

Ah reet. Cheers Gary! Didn't even realise. What a fucking ledge. Bullshit. How many Everton fans were at St Mary's and why are they particularly interested? Matters not, the alternative is not making your point known, your voice heard and your influence made. Anyway this doesn't really happen now Gary Neville's stepped in. They held up a banner, they did nowt wrong. Carver acted like a twat, simple as.

Waiting while not protesting is definitely better than waiting while protesting.

Assumed this is the point of this campaign? I doubt those behind it think it'll suddenly cause Ashley to swiftly depart on a whim, but what's wrong with at least trying to change things, or at least bring further attention to the cause? At worst, it will likely provide more public debate about it and help to highlight Ashley's total unwillingness to support any kind of on-pitch ambition. "It's unlikely to change things therefore accept the status quo" seems a pretty terrible mentality to me. Criticse the campaign if you like, but it's a form of activism in a club drowning in apathy. Yeah I don't get the issue really. Unwillingness for themselves or others to be shaken from apathy for fear of being labelled a deluded Geordie by the southern press for wanting more? Fuck knows. I actively enjoy taking people to task on the 'deluded Geordie' bollocks, not that yous need defending as such but just the quantity of media rhetoric bollocks that people actually believe about your club is pretty remarkable. Probably because they want to believe it as it fits their lazy, pre-set perception of Newcastle fans. Because level-headed fans who simply want their side to compete and show some ambition isn't a particularly amusing stereotype therefore it just isn't true. I think it's down to a number of things, but mainly people from the North East being an easy target for mockery and us daring to challenge the status quo in the 90s.

Hooray - the voice of reason. Honestly, the utter negativity on this board worries me. Posters wanting us to get relegated? Like the WTF. No deal at all. How is it possible to be this f***ing thick? You want to stay in the PL achieving nothing whatsoever for the next 30 years? We'll lets get relegated then - it will fix all of our problems in a heartbeat. No one's said that and continuing to frame the issue in such a way is ridiculous. If you accept that Ashley's primary, almost sole motivation as NUFC owner is profit maximization (because that should be clear to everyone by this point), it logically follows that he would have less interest in holding on to a club that's failing to earn him money. Relegation would undoubtedly put a major dent in his pocketbook: the disparity in wealth between the PL and Championship is ridiculous. Of course it could backfire and we could "do a Leeds" (which is really not a legitimate reason to be worried about relegation considering the completely different circumstances surrounding Leeds and today's Newcastle). But holding fast where we are, ambition-less and content to simply exist as a PL team and nothing more, is clearly not ever going to force Ashley to reconsider his ownership of the club. Can't speak for others, but I have trouble accepting that tbh. The only thing I feel I know about Ashley is that he will categorically not be putting any more of his own money into the club and has been running it solely on that aim since his first year (not even sure he gives a toss about the piddling profits we now make). Getting relegated won't hurt him much personally or in the pocket, it'll just knock the club back into more cost cutting. nah he;s not in it for the profits man BottledDog's always been banging the same drum, he's just understandably piped down with it a bit as things have progressed. What's progressed? I've piped down for the same reason as most. Even more dogshit football post Pardew, and sod all to get excited about since January. Ah, and sod all to get excited about in the future unless Charnley suddenly becomes competent and starts running the club with some passion and ambition for success on the pitch (an alien concept to him so far as I can see). Just not a fan of people being called fucking thick for being against relegation is all. IIRC you were one of the biggest Ashley fans going, followed by one of the biggest Pardew fans going, for longer than the vast majority. Fizzled out eventually, but you still see the odd similar comment from you in the interest of "balance". FWIW I agree someone shouldn't be called fucking thick for that alone, the relegation idea is down to personal taste. It's the stuff that always comes with the counter-arguments, "Support the team or fuck off and support someone else if you want us to get relegated" and that type of thing, which is annoying and short-sighted.

Everton fan gets it immediately, Newcastle fan who apparently can't stand Ashley doesn't get it and starts having a pop immediately. Figure that one out.

Get fucked with this shit man, couldn't give a fuck what anyone else thinks never mind the mackems.

If anything Carver's appointment has thoroughly vindicated the SackPardew campaign. The argument was put before by Pardew apologists "what if we get someone even worse?" Now we have seen that tactic can only backfire on Ashley so that's one more layer of deception ripped from his defences. Anyone who was waiting for a Carver like appointment before fully believing Ashley was a git, was let's say, not exactly the brightest bulb in the first place. The only way SackPardew would have been vindicated was if the next manager was a success. Otherwise it would have been called AshleyOut from the outset. Like I said, one more layer of deception ripped from Ashley's defences. It seems like we both agree on this yet you seem to find this a problem. Not at all. I'm of the opinion Ashley's true nature was revealed long ago, long before Pardew's reign, and is now well known and understood by both the fans and the media. You'll have a hard time finding anyone who still believes he's trying to do anything with NUFC except make money. There's nothing left to expose. Under Ashley, NUFC is a selling club with zero ambition. If AshleyOut is going to play this like they're revealing some kind of deception to the world, well, they're only going to make themselves look ridiculous. You're missing the point, either deliberately or due to some pretty serious mental deficiencies. The press in this country appear to need to be spoonfed with this stuff if the SP campaign is anything to go by. There's that and there's putting pressure on a notoriously flaky owner who has a strop every time this sort of thing happens. It hasn't happened for too long, and it's never been organised or focussed enough. It's a tall order but this approach will give us the best chance of raising awareness, exposure and pressure. The fans just need to get behind it and be prepared for a long ride that involves a bit of personal sacrifice rather than find fault with it. And then "hope for the best". Only this is a different sort of "hoping for the best", we're still at the will of a billionaire arsehole but this time we're actually trying to do something about it. Are you sure? It's a long long time I saw any piece in the press that portrayed Ashley in a way that any NUFC fan would take issue with. The best I suppose you could do is find some arguing that he's put the club on a sound financial footing. If that's the so called 'deception' that this AshleyOut campaign aims to bust, then they're deluded. Read the website, there is more there than usually gets reported. A lot of media outlets have reported negatively on him in the past but during the SP campaign this was absolutely all over the press. It's not just about raising awareness anyway, it's about exerting pressure and elevating apathy. There is nothing to dislike here.

Which ones we talking? Mako, Figures 1-0 Football and samptime? Any more? They have certainly all just popped up at once like. Disco has always been very suspect in general so I'm not surprised about that one.

That's absolutely incredible.

Arsenal won a trophy a year ago, play the top teams in Europe every season, play the best football in the league and have some of the most exciting players to watch. Howay man.

It's a risky business goading players that have left, wouldn't be surprised if Santon said he was fit for ages before he was forced out.

The media never seem to highlight mackem misdemeanours in these games like pitch invasions etc. And the second that one of our lot punches a horse they're all over it! Mackedia.
