  1. Read me edit Well read me post. Don't think we've won by more than 2 goals away from home since getting promoted.
  2. In the Premier League? Portsmouth 3-0 in the relegation season feels like the last one. Ipswich 4-0 (?) and perhaps a few others in the Championship.
  3. Ironically the two making gestures on Twatter would fit the bill. Aye true, if they could be arsed - Adebayor's fall from form/fitness since he earned a permanent move has been a disgrace if not much of a shock. Didn't see too much wrong with Assou-Ekotto though, not sure why they shifted him on when the alternatives were Rose and playing a centre half out of position.
  4. Except us Aye, we're a law unto ourselves.
  5. Spurs next few fixtures are fairly kind as well (So'ton away, WBA home, Stoke home). The Standard had said he'd be given until the end of the year to turn it around but he hasn't even made it that long. I think he would have sorted it out in time as I rate a few of the players they brought in but once the rumours start managers never seem to last much longer these days it seems. A few of their transfer choices left a lot to be desired like, e.g. lack of a left back and not enough goals up front.
  6. Getting more like Italy or Spain in that respect it seems. Clubs pull the trigger the first sign things are going South.
  7. I've read a number of accounts of the game that refer to us having a fantastic first half, the game being a brilliant one to watch and us having control for the majority but not winning due to a couple of missed chances. I don't see it, I was as bored watching that yesterday as I have been watching the majority of our games for a long while. I'd think I was getting sick of football but I don't have the same issues watching other sides. Our games are scrappy and dull for the most part.
  8. Coupled with a few hammerings that we got, e.g. Fulham and Wigan away off the top of my head.
  9. Agree - imagine what we'd have been capable of this year if we'd bought a tricky winger, a massive centre forward and a defender.
  10. Not quite - we shut up shop and drew the last 15 minutes of that game 0-0, HTL.
  11. I don't think the stats are mostly made up, they're just defined differently. Agree that people are prone to accepting them without questioning the methods.
  12. If you scroll by the entire article and base your opinion on one of the 2 comments, aye. Fuck knas, I don't think basing it on passes makes any more sense to be honest - you could have Ben Arfa running with the ball for 10 seconds at one point in the match and the Southampton team tapping it around their defence for 10 seconds at another and this would completely distort the stats in Southampton's favour. The debate lies more with what you define as time in possession, there are a lot of scrappy passages of play where it's difficult to define who is really in possession of the ball and also other times when the ball is flying aimlessly through the air. For stoppages and time it takes to deliver a set piece it makes sense to stop the clock entirely until the ball is kicked again.
  13. The situation does seem very Duncan Ferguson and I also had a similar feeling about Carroll when he started picking up knocks here and there but I'm not sure you can say it's something that applies to all/most tall strikers. The likes of Zlatan and Crouch don't appear to have had many injury problems. The fact (or rumours at least) that the way Carroll looks after himself off the pitch leaves a lot to be desired probably has more to do with it, same as a lot of the crocks Newcastle have had the misfortune to employ down the years, Dyer being one that springs to mind.

  15. Watching this Keane-Vieira thing. "You'd have Pires on the right over Beckham? Jesus, Patrick".
  16. SSN saying they don't have anyone lined up, not sure how they know that mind.
  17. He was quoting Pardew on MOTD. Not sure I understood your post anyway, I'd have thought possession stats were in fact based on time held on to the ball (not including the time it takes to take free kicks, throw ins, etc). Wouldn't make much sense if it's simply a count of passes made.
  18. 18 red cards? Jesus. Isn't the Premier League record 8 at the most?
  19. Thought it was a terrific game. It was rubbish.
