I was doing a job around the back of their place today. I know I keep on saying how stadiums of Sunderland’s age will soon need to start major renovation, but fuck me it’s looking like it does for them. The roof is filthy. It and the cantilever beams could all do with a repaint. You have air vents with slats missing. It also amazes me that for a relatively new stadium, it has absolutely no facilities built into it. Staff offices, and the club store/ticket office are all in a building of their own in the car park. If you owned them, and had money, you’d be looking at replacing the stadium stand by stand to be honest. Vastly outdated, and it’s not 30 years old yet.

Haha, certainly not, although it is good to see a younger generation supporting non-league football. The number 9 for North Shields seems to have potential, although North Shields have no idea to make the most of him, especially in the second half where he appeared to be playing on the left wing.

I like how they still have a fan zone underneath the roof/canopy, and I like the wrap around displays which are the modern and less obstructive way of having screens. Is it actually going to be a fanzone though, or is it just a club store in a separate building? Overall the design is a bit shit like. As someone has said, it’s like a circus tent, and it is, well a circus tent, a bit of the Millennium dome, and Royal Quays outlet park. I’d hope that our owners have a better design in mind for our stadium.

In all fairness I said in the context of getting Europe, a win on Sunday makes the rest of the season irrelevant if we are talking about getting back into Europe, as we would have already achieved it. If we are talking between a choice between Champions League or even Europa League football next season, or a cup win, I’ll take the cup win. I’d honestly take a cup win and lose every single game afterwards until the end of the season. You probably have to be in your 80’s now to remember us last winning something domestically, and you either collecting or close to collecting your pension if you remember us winning the Fairs Cup. We need that monkey off our back. At the end of the day, if you asked Spurs fans if they would rather win a cup, or be in the Champions League, they’d take a cup win, and they won something in 2008.

I’d rather Miley came on for either Willock or Longstaff, and Osula for Wilson. Wilson has always been a finisher though, he’s never been a good all round player, and you could argue that he’s the one that you want the ball to fall too inside the box.
