  1. Translation: ‘I’m never giving up my season ticket and I really enjoy paying someone each season to literally shaft me up the arse. Anyone who doesn’t like being shafted and decides to stand up for themselves is the arsehole - not me!’
  2. At this point I'd absolutely love to see a colossal shake up which would see the elite finally fuck off into some Euro Super League, which would see the big boys leave and take their overlords from the current authority with them. Let the rest of us just crack on and enjoy life without the crippling 'know your place' agenda, while the likes of Tottenham are scrabbling around looking for points at the bottom of their swanky new Eliteasaurus. I listened to this the other day and I really enjoyed it. They talk about this a lot. How easy it would be? God only knows. https://pod.link/1494785197/episode/QnV6enNwcm91dC00NzQwNzAx
  3. They’ve all been at it. They’re delighted but can’t help but get a sly dig in too because at the end of the day Newcastle as a city and a club mattters not a jot to them or their existence. And yet are terrified of a rejuvenated NUFC gatecrashing the party. They enjoyed it in the 90s - I doubt they’d be so keen to see it this time around.
  4. He really is a wanker. He should go and report on his beloved Leyton Orient instead of winding us all up at every available opportunity.
  5. Luke Edwards still maintains Mauriss is in pole position to buy us and Edwards has spent 8 months writing an article about it. Arsehole
  6. Cut off after 2 minutes. Spoke very well when he was allowed to. They’re now just chatting shit about the FA Cup Final.
  7. Back to my rugby club, Novocastrians, for the foreseeable future again. Fortiter Defendit Triumphans as our mutual city and club motto goes.
  8. I believe it. But why had they not approved it by now? That’s what’s most frustrating as we all know what Ashley is like.
  9. I’m devastated of course. I thought it was my way back into supporting NUFC again full time. I’ve missed it since I gave up my ST six years ago. However, I think I’m more devastated about the way they’d invested into the city. The city could have been an exciting hub of investment and opportunity. Let’s face it, we’re not going to get it off the Government, especially when the economic fall out begins to hit in the next few months. This deal could have changed the face of our city and the region. Reading that the Reubens has been donating to the a West End food bank makes it all the more upsetting. One day we’ll get the club we deserve. It could be a bumpy ride - much worse than we’ve experienced in the last 13 years.
  10. Nailed on next season if no other takeover is forthcoming. ASM to be sold as well do we reckon?
  11. Wow. Unbelievable stuff. My friends and family are a tiny cog in anything Newcastle United - but that’s a group of six of us who were prepared to queue overnight for STs if the takeover happened - now walking away for good. If you multiply that by thousands, Chuck in the inevitable relegation next season - this club could be fucked for another generation. The Premier League has totally shafted us. This was a lot more than just a collection of supporters, but an entire city - one of the most impoverished in the UK, which needed an economic boost with the impending depression about to set in. This really fucking stinks.
  12. On Radio Newcastle about an hour ago (after the Donald interview), they said that a club insider had told them it was going to be announced tomorrow. Did anyone else hear that? I’ve seen nothing at all on twitter or anything to confirm that?! Were my ears playing tricks on me?
  13. what the fuck? Guv is sound, and that's a weird thing to say. But if you're cool with some league 1 nobody slagging the club thats on you. And he was atrocious plenty, the Shaqiri goal has already been mentioned. Tbf you always posted about how shit he was and how you hated him, so you are a little biased. I think he's a wank keeper yeah, but I only disliked him as a person after that incident. I was more taking the issue with randomly terming Guv a bell end, because he dared speak to a third choice keeper on a night out In my defence, a first year Uni student should be out getting pissed. God knows why I was in Madame Koos of all places mind you - I detest the place now. However, I’m most certainly unsure as to why a ‘Premier League’ goalkeeper was out midweek when we hadn’t won a game in however long. Aye he gave me the time of day to begin with (probably was enjoying being recognised tbh) and we had a reasonable conversation until he came out with the Pardew love in and Ben Arfa/Keegan hate. Bearing in mind I think this was back in the Sack Pardew days where there was a lot being said at that particular time. I’m not losing sleep over him. He’s made money many of us could only dream of and he was just as complicit as Pardew as a mouth piece throughout those years. Fuck him.
  14. Yes to TheGuv[/member] That article is so badly written You can tell it was written immediately after waking up after the night out (in my first year at Uni). I got quite a lot of hate for that article on Twitter by the Pards brigade. Rob Elliot also said he would be speaking to his lawyers as it ‘was libellous’. I do remember the conversation vividly however and it’s all true. I’ve never liked him since (I barely did beforehand tbf). Midds is 100% spot on. He’s a shite ‘keeper who stole a living for near on a decade. Funnily enough, a friend of mine messaged me yesterday talking about Elliot and the article I wrote. He then went onto say how his family company (who fit marble worktops in kitchens) went round to Elliot’s house to give him a quote. Elliot refused to pay full price and expected a discount as he played for Newcastle. So it turns out he’s a tight twat n’all.

    Kevin Keegan

OTD in 2008. Kevin Keegan said: "During my time here - and I've got three years left - Newcastle will not be a Champions League club. "That's what I want to tell the fans, I don't want to mislead them. We'll try our best and if one of them (the top four) hits a brick wall and falls by the wayside and we can jump in there I'll be delighted, but realistically it's going to be tough. "At the moment we're a million miles away from them (Chelsea). "This league is in danger of becoming one of the most boring but great leagues in the world. The top four this season will be the same top four next year. "But what I can say to Newcastle fans is that we'll be trying to get fifth and win the other league that’s going on. We should make a run of that. "Providing the owner backs me - and I've no proof of that yet, but no doubts he will - I can get three or four players in and if I can do that - and we have luck and no injuries to key, key players - then we might be able to win the 'second league' in the Premiership. "I think it's very, very exciting to finish fifth in the league for Newcastle. You'd be mad in my position to say we can get in the top four next season. You can't ask an owner to spend that kind of money or get the players to come to this club that you would need to get in the top four. "We lost out on Modric to Spurs and that tells you something. It's a blow - it's not the end of the world. "I'm still optimistic for this club in terms of where it's been in the last couple of years. "Six weeks ago I asked the club to tie him (Owen) up, it's not happened yet. It's disappointing but it's not the end of the world. I've not told Michael in the six weeks I've been talking to him about staying that if he stays here he'll get Champions League football or we'll win the Premier League. "I'm not misleading anyone there. If we finish fifth it'd be a massive achievement considering where we are now. "I didn't say I hadn't got any money to spend this summer, I said I haven't got enough to make up that gap to the top four. "I think Mike Ashley will support me. I don't think there will be a problem there, but the problem might be getting the players. I get on great with the owner because I never talk to him! That’s better than some managers at the moment! No communication is good now! "But however much money he gives me the biggest challenge is getting players to come to you when they've got three or four alternatives. And if they're really good players they will have three or four alternatives. "Even if someone gives you a barrel-load of money you have to be honest and say you're not going to get the best players. There's a pecking order - If I'm a player and I get the option to go to Chelsea or Newcastle, the Press would slaughter me, asking where my ambition was (if I chose Newcastle). "All the great players will go for where the honours are and if they don't make it there they'll drop to a Newcastle.” Chris Mort subsequently echoed those sentiments: "We don't want to do a Leeds. It doesn't make sense. "This club had £100million-worth of debt which has now been cleared and it would be foolish to stretch it beyond its limits. "I thought Kevin's comments were quite sensible. "I'm not sure what people's expectations are but I don't think most Newcastle fans would be greatly surprised by what he had to say. "There are those who are naturally optimistic but it does no harm to come out with some realism and say that if we get fifth we will have done well. He's right. "I wasn't taken aback by Kevin's comments. He says what he feels. We have just come out of a relegation battle so you can't have people surprised when the manager says we aren't going to get into the Champions League. "This is a long-term building project and we are very happy with Kevin. He's a very enthusiastic character who has got the team playing good football. "We were disappointed to lose to Chelsea but he's got the team playing well. "We have started talking about who we will be bringing in and Kevin will have the final say. He has to have that. "We are very happy with where we are but Kevin is quite right to say we shouldn't expect Champions League football. "It's going to be tough for anyone to break into the top four. Someone might sneak in there occasionally and there are a number of sides who will have a go but it is incredibly difficult."

    St James' Park

Yep (apparently). They also supposedly paid for the old gates to be placed in front of a wall.

    St James' Park

Llambias was looking for sponsors and announced they would showcase the ground to potential new sponsors as SportsDirect@StJamesPark. He gave up after a few months as nobody called it that and there was clearly no takers. Then out of the blue they just changed the stadium name outright to SDA

    St James' Park

I seem to recall people being pissed off because the name of a ground from 1880 was changed, the double whammy was because the club wasn’t getting any money for it. The hypocrisy of fans to accept a Saudi name change would be something to behold after the various moral debates we’ve had so far. I sincerely hope they wouldn’t change the name and I don’t think they would.

Dead against it. Can’t believe people would swap heritage for a few quid to get around FFP

    St James' Park

I’m sure everyone prefers them up in L7 but I think we have to move them closer to the pitch soon ? Saying that, the baiting between the away fans and old L7 singing section was great fun back in the day. A shame that Ashley moved it because we sang nasty songs about him

    St James' Park

Lots of chat on Twitter about where a standing section should go... My view is if away fans are moving the standing section should go next to them. If that’s the case, there should be a standing section in the Leazes, behind the goal. Away fans in Leazes L4 corner. No way should away fans go anywhere else imo.
