Nottm Forest owner talking about expanding the City ground from its current 30k capacity up to 50k. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/cz7jq159x47o

Neither did we tbf. Remember sitting in sparse crowds for early League Cup games v Cheltenham and Northampton. Think we had less than 20k v Spurs as well. Like you say interest in going to watch live football, especially at the top of the ladder, is through the roof these days and even early round LC games are more or less guaranteed sell outs for the big clubs. NUFC need to consider this when it comes to the stadium plans. Going to 60k won't be enough to future proof us. Think that Man Utd game was where fans of both teams stayed away in protest at the ticket prices. Weren't they something daft like £45?
-
Well it was either that or we get a bye into the next round. I'm sure they would have been delighted with that outcome as well. In saying that they were knocked out of this competition in Round 1 so it doesn't really have anything to do with them. Same reason why I wouldn't get worked up about anything Championship related.

Forget Ashley. I'm just saying that we've been left behind over the last 10/15 years on the stadium front. We all know the reasons why. I'm just saying that it's an indisputable fact that it's happened. 3 years after Ashley leaving I was sort of hoping we'd have some news on how we're going to catch back up again. Chelsea's owners have been there less time than ours have and they're in talks about a move to Earls Court if it proves too difficult to redevelop Stamford Bridge and 49ers Enterprises have only had full control of Leeds since last year and plans are now in place to go to 53k. Tbh my frustration is mainly down to the fact that I can't get in to watch them anymore as the ground is far too small but I'd love a bit of hope to come out the club soon, even if it's just a hint into some of the options that they're exploring so that more of us can get in to watch the team.

It isn't but look at other Countries and the biggest, well supported clubs tend to have the biggest capacities to satisfy the demands of their fanbase. England; Man Utd, Arsenal, Liverpool Germany; Dortmund, Bayern Spain; Barcelona, the Madrid clubs Italy; Milan clubs, Roma Scotland; Celtic, Rangers Holland; Ajax, Feyenoord, PSV Portugal; Benfica, Porto, Sporting Historically we are the 5th best supported team in the Country and will soon have the 9th biggest stadium. Plus I'm pissed off that I'm as good as locked out of it these days!!
-
Whoever was the owner is besides the point though. We used to have the 2nd largest stadium and we'll start next season with the 9th largest. We have been overtaken and left behind.
-
We are if you think that 20 years ago we had the 2nd largest stadium in the Country. Next season we'll have the 9th largest and once Leeds is done we're 10th.

Unfortunately I expect most women's teams run at a loss, if not all of them. Certainly the money it costs to run NUFC women will be far smaller than the revenue the team generates. They need to look at ways of generating more money in the womens game and in turn passing it down to the players and staff.

I don't mind it tbh. Gives it a bit character. Used to love Ibrox in the 80s when it had 5 different colours of seats in each stand, Red yellow, blue, orange and brown. Looked class!

Arteta cried like a bitch when we did this at the Emirates the fucking hypocrite.
-
Aye read it back and he didn't word it great like. You're right it's not for everyone, obviously the cheap admission prices and the crowds reflect that, but it's got a niche market pretty much like Non league has which you mentioned.
-
Got to admit I find the standard pretty poor. His post could probably have been worded slightly better maybe. Also find the game is far less technical than mens football and the intensity, which is one of my favourite things about football isn't there. I did get myself along to SJP a couple of years back to support the lasses against Barnsley I think it might have been, but I found the whole event rather dull and the skill level extremely poor and decided to leave at HT as I was bored. At least I gave it a shot but it just wasn't my thing. Good to see 2/3k seem to be going along regularly to watch them though and if they are enjoying it, which they must be then good on them. Would be boring if we all liked the same things!

I was 78,000 odd in the queue when I went on to get my membership at the beginning of last season. Wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if we have 100k members and even if only half of those are applying for tickets that's 50,000 scrambling for probably 15k tickets maximum so you wouldn't be getting much better than a 1 in 4 chance. Actually come to think of it didn't Eales say last season that the average member had a 25% success rate in ballots.
-
Admittedly I've been a complete armchair fan this season due to ballot failures and away tickets being out of reach these days meaning I've only watched the matches on TV so maybe he's doing loads of good stuff off the ball and working hard off camera that I'm not seeing but he just seems to be a passenger in that team right now.

Gateshead 6-1 down now! What a way to lose your first game of the season.

The worst Newcastle player you've seen in a match
Wallsendmag replied to gjohnson's topic in Football
Marveaux at Goodison is one that'll always stand out. That 1st half performance was up there with the most gutless of performances I've ever seen from an NUFC player. Remember being absolutely furious when he came jogging back out after half time only for Pardew to drag him off 3 minutes in to the 2nd half. -
Atmosphere at the Merseyside Derby always appears very flat, especially at Anfield. It's a really poor Derby. Manchester one isn't great either. The best one I find is North London and it's on this weekend.
-
Really? I've never felt that. Only a few pubs within easy walking distance and if you were unlucky to be stuck at the back of the lower tier you can't see the goal down at the Kop end due to the overhang of the upper tier. I must have been there about 15 times and other than the 4-3 game I've always found the atmosphere to be pretty subdued amongst the home fans.

Chelsea in talks to leave Stamford Bridge for a new stadium in Earls Court. https://www.theguardian.com/football/article/2024/sep/10/chelsea-in-talks-new-stadium-earls-court

Still don't know what Arsenal were thinking when they built the Emirates. Top tier looks fine but why build the lower tier at such a shallow angle when you've got a blank canvas to play with? View is awful. Its like the lower tier of the old Wembley but at least they had the excuse that they simply bolted seats onto terracing.
-
I was at Chelsea away for the final game of the 22/23 season and agree that the view from the Upper tier where I was, is absolutely fantastic. Added to that it's a great stand to generate atmosphere. Never been in the lower tier but I'd imagine it's nowhere near as good there.

Yes it's very much allowed so it's worth doing. Obviously having something in writing, ie a will, makes it even easier.
