He's just accused me of "turning my stream off in a huff" when it was actually a case of giving up a season ticket of many years and dozens of points. He's flounced away from NUFC more than anyone on this forum and yet points fingers back at anyone not currently going to the match faster than anyone else. It's f***ing weird. It wasn't aimed at anyone particular. Just a throwaway comment. However since its meant you've wasted your day trawling through this site looking for my comments dating back 5 years I'm glad I said it. Now put your dummy back in

Ironically they could find that they struggle to attract players when they move up a level. The thought of a midweek trip down to Colwyn Bay with work the next morning narve puts a few off.

How many times have I got to say I hated Pardew! However he's old news and we've got one of the world's greatest managers in charge now, so 2 years since he left I find the obsession with him a bit weird. You must have a lot of time on your hands raking through so many old threads mind Living the dream eh
-
They've got a poor squad but a big wage bill, have a small turnover in comparison to other teams in their league, are drowning in a mountain of growing debt and are bottom of the league and hurtling towards relegation. To top it off they play in one of the most deprived areas of the country. Any investor would need to have a screw loose to take them on if their end game was to make some money.

Burton back on sale. 95 points needed.
-
It'll be interesting to see who would be interested in buying them. They've always made losses for as long as I remember and their fans only turn up if you let them in for nowt or next to nowt so other than TV money they don't really generate any other cash through their own merits so they need to be bankrolled just to tick along, which to be fair, is what Short has done by covering their massive losses year after year. No doubt some Saudi Billionaire who doesn't care about any of that that will come in and buy them now.

I'm not sticking up for him. I've already said I didn't like the bloke. I also think Souness, given the squad he had when he took over, did a worse job as manager than Pardew did.
-
Did he f***, an absolutely unbelievable statement that. Souness was just a rank bad manager. Pardew is the devil incarnate. A man who patronised fans, belittled our region and the intelligence of Geordies. A man who regarded clubs like Swansea and Southampton as clubs poor little old Newcastle could never compete with. A man who was a c*** of a person to his own staff, another manager, someone who head butted an opposition player and pushed a referee. Souness was very bad, but only at getting results. Pardew was on a whole other level. At least Souness actually had ambition and didn't regard the cups or Europe as damaging to the club. Souness never once belittled fans or said bad things about the region. He did on Irish radio mind. Also said at the time of getting the job it was the biggest job he was ever given then in that Irish radio interview said the club was small time with only a real support of a about 10k fans, the rest are customers. Ssshhh. That doesn't fit the agenda on here man.

Wigan Athletic vs Newcastle United - 14/12/16 @ 19:45 - Live on Sky
Wallsendmag replied to 54's topic in Football
Can barely think of a semi competent refereeing performance this season so we've got to expect whoever's in charge to get the big decisions wrong. Just got to make sure we're not relying on him by playing to a level Wigan can't compete with and beat them comfortably. -
Pardew haters Vs Mackem haters we need a referendum Pointless. The people on here wouldn't accept the result anyway.
-
More than happy to see him going head to head with Yedlin for the right back spot. Still wouldn't be comfortable with him as a CM, especially in the Premier League.
-
That just echoes the feelings of the majority back then so not sure what you're trying to prove with that. Nice that you remembered it though and have spent most your morning trying to find it I know loads of people who've chucked it for a variety of reasons over the last 10 years. Football isn't the same now. The fact that Lansbury was given player of the month after the FA basically admitted he's a cheat shows this.
-
Yet you only had a pop when Pardew was mentioned. NUFC fans on here have been getting stick for a while and been accused of being obsessed about Sunderland for posting about them on the Sunderland thread, which incidently only gets a fraction of the traffic the Pardew thread gets. Why didn't you see fit to mention that people can talk about what they want then?
-
I wouldn't like. Being promoted is worth more than any £20m to us and from what I've seen of Grant Hanley, and even Mbemba this season, losing Lascelles wouldn't do us any favours. Wouldn't sell any of the regular 16 or so 1st teamers in January. Should try to keep the squad together until the summer than thank those who aren't good enough for the PL and allow them to move on.

The Alan Pardew thread on here must be the most embarrassing thing on the Internet. It's probably on about its 4th incarnation now after constantly hitting 1,000 pages. Sad thing is it generates far more interest than the Rafa Benitez thread, our current manager, whereas Pardew has been gone for 2 years and is currently making a pigs ear out of it at another club, which certainly isn't our problem. I dont really give a s*** what Pardew does but I sure as hell understand why people have this so called "obsession" for him. He ruined the love of football for many people, he consistently chastised the fans, spouted s***, and made people want the club to lose, to want to see that t*** fail is normal. As for the "most embarrassing thing on the internet" tag, have you seen Reddit? At the end of the day talking about our local Rivals (Just not RTG links every other post) and an ex manager is completely fine. The only thing that annoys me personally is that people seem to like to use attendance figures as a justification for slating an entire fan base, and acting like Newcastle fans are superior, when most definitely are not. We should start up a Graeme Souness thread whilst we're at it then. He did far more damage than Pardew did, especially considering his starting position of having a Champions League quality squad to work with. Pardew has gone, he's been gone for 2 years. His name being constantly at the top of this messageboard is an embarrassment. Are you just being ignorant for s***s and giggles? So you seriously don't see why people would want to talk about a manager that almost destroyed there love for football? And actively made them want the club to lose? Get a grip man you big daft tart The majority of people on here don't even go to the matches anyway so the worst he did was make them turn their streams off in the huff. Destroyed their love for football ffs man You couldn't have been watching NUFC all that long if Alan Pardew did all that to you. I didn't like the bloke, I'll admit it, but he's been gone for 2 years now and we now have one of the worlds great mangers running our club which is why Pardew isn't even worthy of a mention anymore. I used that terminology because thats what people on here, people btw who had been supporting Newcastle for 40+ years. But thats it, name call all you like All I was trying to say, is that understandable why people would want to discuss him. Thats all, nothing less nothing more. You started with the name calling. Don't start crying if you get a bit back. If you've been following NUFC for over 40 years you've seen far, far worse than Alan Pardew then which makes your obsession even more strange.

Exactly. We haven't won a domestic trophy for over 60 years. We haven't won a league title in almost 90 years, yet here we are playing in the 2nd tier of English football and constantly selling out a 52,000 stadium every week. Based on those facts I've mentioned, I'm fairly sure there's not a club in World football that could manage that. If we didnt have the bounce of Rafa, do you guys think we will be selling out in the Championship? If another club akin to Everton were to have the exact same bounce, you honestly think that they wouldnt have a similar uptake? The thing that pisses me off the most in this conversation, is that you guys are acting like its fact, when it most certainly is not. History shows we have a bigger support than Everton. That is despite a lot of our history being in the 2nd division whilst they've been a top flight club for something like 100 consecutive seasons. Certainly more than any other club in the country.

What isn't normal is the most popular topic on the forum being about an ex manager who departed 2 years ago, when we have a World class manager in Rafa Benitez at the helm to discuss/lavish praise on.

Played well on Saturday, as he usually does when he plays at right back. I'd be happy for the club to retain him as a back up for that position.
-
They finished in the bottom half 7 seasons out of 8 from 96 to 04 and their average attendance was always in the mid to high 30000s Go back a couple of seasons before that and Goodison wasn't even half full most of the time. I remember our 1st season in the Premier League back in 1993 (Mike Hooper nearly scored for us) and we played them just before Xmas. They gave us the full stand behind the goal (6,000 seats) and the crowd was still only 25,000 which was one of their biggest crowds of the season.
-
Pretty sure he got booed off against Norwich. Then again he was having his 10th lie down of the game at the time Aye he did and it was 100% justified as well. The lack of effort that night from him that night was there for all to see and when he lost the ball and didn't bother tracking back which led to their 3rd goal he was always going to get stick. Tbf to him he's more or less admitted he hasn't been putting the effort in since he joined but on Saturday he was immense, especially 1st half. That's what he's capable of and if he can start producing that on a regular basis we'll have a cracking player on our hands.

Newcastle United vs Birmingham City - 10/12/16 @ 15:00 - No TV
Wallsendmag replied to 54's topic in Football
Even the corner has been pretty quiet this season. It seems a lot of people have moved there to be in amongst the atmosphere but are not prepared to contribute to it. The Leazes End is a lost cause but the Gallowgate is also getting worse for whinging bast*rds I've noticed. Don't know if anything can be done about it now. I just think it's what our support is these days. Incredible numbers but most of them don't get behind the players at all. Worse than that but there's a growing minority who don't offer any vocal backing and you only hear them when they're getting on certain players backs.
